I'm hoping so Bill. The Fansite Portal has languished in disuse for over 2 years nowSo many new and active fansites (like Red Tomax and CoH at Wikia) that should be added, while many unused links should be cleared out.
As a guy who runs and SG site, I would like my SG in there too. I also know how trivial it can be to add and remove hyperlinks on a web page
But that's just the tip of the iceberg IMHO.
[/ QUOTE ]
It might not be as trivial as you think - most places like this require a review of the site before linking to it to make sure it doesn't have porn, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, I suppose that is a good point -

I reserve the right to harbor doubts until I get a) pointy ears back, b) the pirate shirt. That is all.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's fair enough -
Well, to be fair, they haven't announced much about I12 yet, so it may be that the things that you're waiting for (like base fixes, for example) are already in the works. Don't worry; many of us feel the same way. I know Ex started a bawse feedback thread in August, which would be right about the time they would start work on Issue 12 (that's all conjuncture admittedly, but based off of War Witch's WarCry interviews discussing development cycles).
I know what the event is like and can say that gobs of time wasn't spent on it. I don't want to give alot away, but besides the new costume pieces and the RP, it uses existing zones and such. So it probably didn't take way from the important stuff that many players are waiting for.
That's my 2 Inf anyhow. It's a wait and see mentality for sure, but I've been pretty good at guessing lately -

I just wish that sicne were paying for it, they could have gotten it in working fine or made it mroe customizable. The Inside of the Hair/Veil thing you can't color. The hair itself is the color of the veil. The Bridal pattern top you can have two different colors, which is kind of sad because you have this beautiful pattern you can highlight to match the skirt that you can.
If thats all to be changed, well i wish they could have gotten it right from the get go.
[/ QUOTE ]
Considering they were fixing a lot of bugs in the patch up until Tuesday, I'm nop surprised. Honestly, they were trying to pack too many changes in with the same patch as the V-Day content.
The veil thing's fixed on Test currently, and there are other work-arounds (like linking your colors, picking the right primary, and unlinking). That will be well and good for the event tomorrow, and will make it to Live soon thereafter I imagine.
I know Jay's working on some of the other bugs also, so although they might not be ready for tomorrow, they will get fixed. After having spoken tio him at the M&G, I have faith in The Sexy One. -

For $9.99, I'll /em slap anyone you wish. That's about equal to the value of this VD pack, no?

I will agree with you there sir; selling new animations is a but "funky", for lack of better words.
Admittedly, I am starting to enjoy our little debates. Just less snark, if you could. Thanks in advance. -

Oh NO! A game that gives us free expansion packs (which is not at all typical of the competition)
[/ QUOTE ]
1) There are no free expansion packs. We pay $15 a month for continued content development.
2) Every other successful MMO in current existence does this (releases new content periodically, for no cost beyond the monthly fee).
Conclusion: You failed.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not so sure of that conclusion:
EQ2 add-ons
SWO - Jump to Lightspeed
WoW - Burning Crusades
Add-on sales are still existing and viable sales models. The only real question is price per content. That's debatable for sure, but the concept of buying extra add-ons beyond the subscription fee is not foreign to other games, wether it's a digital key or a physical box. -

Don't forget, Cambios is the person that was upset NCSoft wasn't keeping City of on the 125% uptime standards of the telecommunications industry. Basically comparing a video game to 911 (or equiv) service.
[/ QUOTE ]
1) LOL @ you.
2) Please find and post a citation of this "125%" number.
3) Since NCSoft has taken over, they have proven me right on the issue of maintenance. They cut it from 5 days to 2, and they moved the time earlier. In other words, the two things I always said needed to be done, they've done.
That means on the issue of server maintenance, I won.
You can keep bringing it up, but honestly, that is an issue where "my side" won a glorious victory. NCSoft agreed with us, not you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Aren't you above personal assaults, lest a slapping contest ensue?
As far as maintenance goes, I don't thin anyone "won" per se. I think they got more efficient.
Besides, taking care of MMOs isn't easy. I don't know anything about it personally, but I found this article very enlightening. Considering the amount of infrastructure for games like EQ2 (and presumably CoX), yet alone something like WoW, I'm surprised more maintenance time isn't needed. -
[ QUOTE ]
I just want to know, how long will this update will be avaliable for purchase?
[/ QUOTE ]
Indefinitely. -
[ QUOTE ]
I enjoy the game, but the lack of variety in gameplay has always been its biggest flaw. To then try to SELL new content (however minimal it is) as an extra thing is really quite absurd.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's one perspective. IMHO, I don't mind paying for extra perks like the DVD items or the GvE stuff, but I'll admit (and have already posted as much) that compared to GvE, this was a little steep for price vs. content. Count me in with the crowd that thinks that $4.99 would have been a better deal for this "mini-pack".
There have been new tilesets, but I wouldn't mind more than just labs and warehouses. Would be cool if some of the newer tilesets were used more often, or if more CoV tilesets were used in CoH and vice versa. That would add at least more variety per game until more stuff could be created.
Systems? Inventions are a step in the right direction. I'm hoping (and almost betting) that the base system will get some attention real soon. But I've got to wait until Issue 12 to see where things are headed in that vein and other possibilities. -

I am not sure i understand. Can these new costumes also be earned by doing a special mission like the V-Day missions? Or they can only and only be earned by spending real money for them?

Pay or live without.

So what is it about Valentines day and CoX? For the last three years there has been something new introduced that seems specially tailored to annoy people.
This year: a $10 package with very little highly specialised emotes/costumes in it.
Last year: The Valentines day bug (which haunts us still today)
The year before that: Costume options were made avaialble for inviting x number of people to play. (They corrected this misstep last year)

You can still go to the wedding event without spending a dime
Other than that, it's a V-Day event for your alts.
Edit: the special add for this year's V-Day event is the wedding. The Wedding Pack will be available indefinitely - but it made sense to release it during the romantic season.

Outside of the Pocket D, and in conjunction with the live Wedding event, players will find new Hero and Villain contacts in Atlas ParkĀ and Mercy Island. One comment, Bow Tie (Shoulders) for males and Huge already exists. If it's now available for Female characters, that would be a new addition.
And a question to go with it: My first thought on seeing these was that the jackets would be in Trench Coats, to lock out capes, but apparently, they're plain Jackets, AND there's the Wedding Veil. Is it possible for Female characters to have the Veil, Wedding jacket, AND a Cape?
[/ QUOTE ]
I have both Coat and Back options on Obsidius (Huge model).
Flapping tux tails AND a cape?!?!?! TWO capes systems on the same character?!?!?! Jay, you rock!
[/ QUOTE ]
this may have been a bug, Female toons and now if what you say is correct Huge toons can do this, but male toons cannot. If this is a bug you better get all your back details with tux in asap before they fix it.
[/ QUOTE ]
... No it's not a bug, the only reason they can't say it's true for sure on males or Huge is that there is no veil part for the guys.
[/ QUOTE ]
True, but I could easily do a cape on my Huge character. None of the Back Options are locked. I have to wonder if that's a bug though. However, it's currently possible to do both a Cape and Tux on Huge or Female characters. But NOT a Cape and a Veil. -

In addition, having both a hero and a villain ready to attend the wedding event can be handy, since each instance will be 50 of each. If there are too many heroes, you can switch to your villain if you so desire, which might increase your chances of attendance (or vice versa).
That's my advice -

And to stay on-topic, I will re-iterate my position on the wedding pack: too little value for too much money. I won't be purchasing it for both of those reasons. I'm not going to act all outraged over it, though.

Now if it gave a sixth costume slot, then maybe.
[/ QUOTE ]
See, that's my only problem - I have to scrap an entire costume for this, and the Wedding Pack didn't even give me a costume change token, yet alone a new costume slot
[/ QUOTE ]
Dude, it's on TEST. What do you care? Copy yourself over anew, or whatever. Medi-Lad is only level 15 (I play him only very rarely), and has only one single costume slot. I over-wrote it - remember, this is on Test, not a Live server - without hesitation.

We want everyone possible to enjoy this event while we can. The live event will be running from 3:00 PM PST (6:00 PM EST) for only three hours, it will be repeated as often as we are able during that time.
[/ QUOTE ]
While I understand you need to keep it vague in order to keep expectations realistic, can you give us a rough idea on how long the ceremony might last? 20 or 30 minutes? Just trying to get an idea of my chances to get into one.
Thanks Ex!
[/ QUOTE ]
I won't speak for Ex, but during the Dress Rehearsal, each rehearsal lasted about 30 minutes. There's a bit of gathering before the event, and some fun afterwards. So although it will only allow 100 players at a time, one shouldn't have to wait terribly long before the next event.
Also, since heroes typically outnumber villains, you might have an easier time getting in if you attend as a villain if they decide to keep the two sides of the aisle even. You might even see me there as my villain Iron Reign.
Hoping to make it in time tomorrow Ex, I'll have to see how work goesOtherwise, cheers to the happy bride and groom!

If NCNC was really trying to find the pulse of add-on sales, they should start with additional server and costume slotsThey could sell TONS of those.

So just to verify:
The ushers in Atlas and Mercy: are they there only for the wedding and its repeats
does the mission they give offer a badge?
Just want to make sure
[/ QUOTE ]
The ushers are only an entryway to the zone in which the wedding occurs. They don't give out missions, and therefore no badges are associated. They're just a "door" to the wedding event, as it were.
Adversely, if the devs have to kick out unruly players, the ushers will not allow them to re-enter.
The only badges this year are the same ones from last year. The new thing this year is the live in-game wedding. -

*** ACTUALLY *** at their keyboards?
What in the heck. Are we supposed to swoon like these are rock stars or something? We know they are going to be firing off macros or slamming in scripted text. It isn't like there will be meaningful RP or anything actually interesting happening.
Watching two strangers get married is about as special as watching paint dry. Foisting this on us like it is "special" is insulting to our intelligence.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do whatever you want. It's an invitation, you can show up or not. If you feel insulted, I doubt it was the intention of the post. I'm sorry if you don't feel like part of the community.
They're not asking for any swooning; it's a social event. That's a basis for a lot of what an MMO is about. I'm sure Kleiburn might agreeYou don't have to be social if you don't want to, that's your choice as a player.

The veil locks out capes. However, you can have a cape or wings with the jacket... on females. But on males it locks out the back options again.
