Including yours, 5 seconds after it was posted.

Woot! Gotta love the General forum. I love getting you guys all riled up.

To be honest, I'm suprised Nozy can even read a good 98% of the forums at this point.

    [/ QUOTE ]

LOL well, 2% is about the percent of it that is worth reading.

    Because Statesman is human?

Hell, I've been calling Nozy a douchehat since issue 3. I'm surprised it took him this long to join in on the fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mmmm marvelouse conclusion there I always suspected that contrary to some of his detractors he was also human.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And of course unlike my earlier post, I've never regretted having Taser on ignore. Not sure I could stand the smell of having my head that far up States' backside.
  4. Wow, a post from States' that isn't condescending. Been a while since we'e seen that. Thanks.

My point continues to be: ED and I5 haven't created a ghost town out of City of Heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And, you're right there. It started before that. Rounds about I4 is when I started to notice a significant increase in the number of people from friends lists and SG rosters that showed OFFLINE.

I5 and ED aren't the way to bring them back either. If you guys are perfectly content just doing enough to maintain your current numbers not much I can do to persuade you otherwise.

I can only hope I7 is BIG, because we sure as heck need it to be. I suspect though that PvP is going to have another round of large "tweaks" to powers and mechanincs coming our way.

Been almost two years now and no new Melee or Defense sets, no Skills, no power customization, no end game activities, no fixes for lots of stuff that has been broken since beta (damn disorient bugs), no weapon customization, only 1 Epic AT, no sprucing up of the old zones or missions or TF's, the list goes on and on.

That is the kind of stuff that is going to bring players back/keep them here. If indeed the numbers coming in are growing just imagine what your subscription numbers would be if you guys worked a bit more on keeping players rather than driving them off.

Yep, here we are...sitting a blip above Toontown Online and lightyears away from WoW or Lineage. It's

Just to compare: we haven't launched in Asia.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is that the only point in my post you feel needs addressed? *shrug* Okay, fine. If you think you can gain 3 million in Asia to catch up go for it.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
So -- let's discuss the actual numbers here, rather than snapping at Stateman's heels.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sure. Let's first make note of the fact that the # Concurrent Users stat, the one Statesman was nice enough to mention, is the ONLY one that is on the rise, and very well could have a statistical anomoly.

Aside from that we have a Drop in daily access and a Drop in Monthly Access. Hmmm....wonder why Statesman picked the Concurrent Number Stat to throw out at us?

What's great is that people have been saying we're ddddoooommmeeedd since launch, and yet surprisingly, here we are.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep, here we are...sitting a blip above Toontown Online and lightyears away from WoW or Lineage. It's one thing to be happy about an early success, it's another to be complacent with that success and feel you can do whatever the heck you want to the game.

It's great that CoH was such a hit at the start. Truly. But barely maintaining your subscription numbers after releasing your fist major expansion isn't something to tout at your next Ops meeting with NCSoft as a major success.

I would personally love to see CoH/V numbers rise to the top, it means more people on to play with, more resources coming in that will hopefully be diverted into new content, which means more for me to do in game, but I don't think we are on that track. Jack get your head out of the clouds and come back to earth here. You guys have a lot to do to make this game a really big success.

No Patch note is an oversight, nothing more.

Amazing how often you see this exact same thing posted. Over and Over and Over.

Now that you have two half finished games how about we fill them out and make them as robust as most people would expect an MMO to be before we go and get carried away with the next City of....

[/ QUOTE ] You do realise that 'finished' and 'MMO' really go together very, very, very rarely. Actually, I'm completely unable to think of one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Way to completely miss the point of what I said. Well done, you should be a dev.

Personally, I'm a fan of shadows.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here like you did with CoV. Instead of finishing the first game you guys went straight into developing the next. Now that you have two half finished games how about we fill them out and make them as robust as most people would expect an MMO to be before we go and get carried away with the next City of....
  11. Sorry Jack, but what you are saying simply doesn't match what I see when I log in. Back around I2/I3 you couldn't turn a corner without running into a group of heroes, you could throw together a TF in minutes. Now? I can spend an entire evening streetsweeping in Bricks or IP and never see more than a handful of other heroes. Trying to start a Respec or other TF is all but impossible without a dedicated group. I've seen two formerly full and active SG's become totally disbanded.

Are all these players you speak of coming into the game on that Magical Internal Server you guys use, too? You should know by now that thing is borked.

Inf has been in overabundance for quite some time, so simply using inf for the currency with bases would have been disastrous.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lets not get carried away now. Disastrous? Hardly. Would it have allowed people to actually be able to afford to build bases and pay the rent? Sure, but letting people actually get a chance to experience bases is hardly disastrous. It seems more like a lame attempt to create an end game type activity. Go, Hunt, Farm Prestige.

I can't think of a reason why the devs would want to "avoid" having level 50's generate extra prestige. It sounds like a perfect reward for maxing out your character, to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why would you want anything other than level 50's in your SG then?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well mainly so that the SG thirives and continues as the 50s drop. But another reason is that so you have someone of various level so that they can begin the TFs that the 50s want to do in order to get more prestige since the auto-exemp feature wont allow a group of 50s to actually start the TF. There are plenty of reasons to keep your SG with members of various levels and the majority of groups realize that. Sure there will be the few that say if we have all 50s we have more Prestige but I sincerely think they will be the minimum and it wont be a large group.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, this as with everything else, is balanced around the min/max model. "What would the 5% l33t groups do?" That is what the devs have in mind, not "What would be a nice way to reward the regular 95% of the playerbase?".

Unfortunately something we forget....those street slime are superpowered as well....so as super heros we are taking on hordes of super powered street slime.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really? They are? I mean aside from the times when my disoient attacks give them super speed and super jump abilities. If they are so super why is their first instinct to run right up beside me and cycle through using brawl? I mean heores have all sorts of amazing abilities we use, but the foes we fight rely on brawl, pistols, and the occasional debuff.

Maybe part of the problem people have in accepting the one hero = three minion rule is the fact that the mobs are not the least bit imposing. For the most part their superpowers are non existant, the enitre way mobs are presented shows no sign that they should be a threat to a super hero.

Now if the mobs were all hovering around firing blasts of energy or hitting KO Blow or something like that it would be a bit easier to accept. But when 90% of the mobs default to brawl the instant combat is started I don't really perceive them as being super powered.

Paragon Protectors and Rularru are good examples of the type of power selection all mobs should have. It is very easy to suspend your disbelief into thinking you are actually fighting another super powered foe. A Malta operative or nemesis minion running up beside me and trying to brawl my tanker to death though isn't exactly what I would imagine super powered combat to be.
