    Cloak of Fear

    [ QUOTE ]
Your build looks pretty good to me. A couple of comments you might want to consider. Firstly, DA is still pretty End heavy and toggle management is a pain at times, especially high game where the baddies have multiple attack types and you can't de-toggle. Having said that, dark consumption is a great power and should cover your end needs. 2 end reducers may be overkill in your armours, but definitely keep at least two in death shroud and cloak of fear.

Unless you want cloak of darkness for concept reasons, I'd drop it as combat jumping will be enough immob resistance.

I'd have a recharge in dark regen rather than health. if you're fighting 3 mobs or more, it'll fill up your bar 100% and if you are fighting 3 or more, you'll want it up again quickly. You might consider dropping siphon life too, in my opinion the heal is too small and the damage is too little to warrant taking it, but others love it.

Cloak of fear and touch of fear stack on bosses, so I'd definitely recommend CoF for a dm/da despite it's end use.

Finally, seek out larger teams. Soul drain is an awesome power and you really want to max out the mobs it hits (think 7 is the most). With soul drain you'll become a boss killing, lieutenant smiting damage animal. All the better if you fear the boss first so he's quaking in his boots as you open your can of whoop [censored]!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok thx for your help. To be honest Siphon Life was taken to cover some heal until Dark Regeneration at lvl 16 (the scrapper is lvl 11 now) and will be probably respec'd later so I can use the slots to complete the toggles. Will probably take Air Superiority with just 1xAcc SO for filling the attack chain with a fast recharging / low end costing / good damage mitigating attack.
On the other hand, Cloak of Darkness is only there because I am a little too oriented to defence being my main scrappers all /SR, will probably try it and will also lose it in respec because I like to see my toon while playing, probably Hasten will substitute it or maybe Jump Kick also for low end, quick recharge and cool looks (the animation is loooong, the dmg is loooow, but I love how it looks, it's the kind of attack a super-powered dude would use).

Thanks very much for the advice

    Crazy SG idea?

Ouch, RL happened, I will of course still make it for Friday, but more towards 6:30 / 6:45, sorry about that

    Cloak of Fear

Mmmm this is the actual build I was planning although I will always need be full of blues I guess:

Then I guess if I manage to get a few HO's I could then put some extra endrdx in toggles and there is also further research to be done in the Invention System for further end recovery.

Any suggestions? Pls bear in mind that for concept I'd really like to try CoF and really like to go pure /DA

    Crazy SG idea?

Achoo already forgot how it felt to have a life hence will attend on Friday the 27th from 6:00 pm BST

    Crazy SG idea?

I also think we'd better propose a couple of days for SG teaming. One week day suitable for mishes and another suitable for either mishes ot TF's when in the mood for them.
I would suggest Tuesdays and Fridays from 6:00 GMT (or BST when applies). On Tuesdays we should be able to stay a little later if TF scheduled and on the other hand, on Tuesdays we could do regular mishes and focusing in lvling lower lvl toons to TF range if TF scheduled that week.
Another solution could be 2 weekdays (any day from 6:00 GMT suits me personally) and if in the mood for TF's then arrange them at a special 3rd day.
That would allow us to use the Men in Tights toon with full SG teams and also work on other alts for the rest of the week.
  7. Nightmarer

    Cloak of Fear

Ok thx for your comments. I will definitely use it on my DM/DA scrapper that will go pure /DA build for concept.

    Thx
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately I won't be able to make it either. Good luck with it

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey it's not fair, who's going to SB the PA team then?
  9. Nightmarer

    Cloak of Fear

    Heya,
I am working in a couple of /DA scrappers, a Claws/DA and a DM/DA which are fun to play so far. There's this power I was really willing to try, Cloak of Fear and after doing some research in the forums I have found out that nobody takes it and if anyone does then respecs it out as soon as possible. I guess it happens to a few powers in game and the devs should amend them somehow or replace them.
Anyway, my question is, is there actually a GOOD side that makes Cloak of Fear at least deserve a try?
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Oh, and good choice on Defiant

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course it's a good choice.
  11. Nightmarer

    Crazy SG idea?

    Yep, we could tell them:
"Listen man, you don't really have to do this. This ain't exactly the Mississipi. I'm in one side, I'm at the other side. I'm at the East Bank, I'm at the West Bank. It's not that critical"
  12. Nightmarer

    DM/Rgn PvE

    [ QUOTE ]
Build really goes to 32, I just can't work out the rest and slotting is up for change anyway. Plus at this point (41) I have 8 slots left.

    Thoughts on Tough?

Thoughts on Presence Pool for fears?

    Concealment?

    Leaping?

    That sort of thing...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not sure about Tough on a regen, however, on the DM side, although you have 2 fast rechargers (shadow punch and air superiority) you also have 2 very slow ones (soul drain and dark consumption) hence I would personally improve my attack chain with 1 SO recgharge in Shadow Maul and Midnight Grasp at least (if possible also Smite).
On the other hand, although I will try presence pool on a BS/Regen as an alternative to MoG, bear in mind that one of the Presence Powers can be substituted by Touch of Fear which is much better than Intimidate. It's single target hence not as good as Invoke Panic but it is immediately available. I would personally go for Touch of Fear and try the Presence Pool in any other regen rather than DM.
A sensible slotting for Touch of Fear would be 2xAcc and 3xToHitDebuff and if you have a spare slot wouldn't hurt to put here a Fear Duration, however that would imply one of your powers to choose to be something that can go away with just the base slot.
Regarding Tough, I am not that familiarised with Regen to recomend it or not.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Lingering Radiation has a 90 second recharge and a 30 second duration for a -100% regen.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This was fixed in December. From notes:

    [ QUOTE ]
Defender Lingering Radiation powers -Regen was operating at 1/5th the scale of the equivalent Corruptor or Controller version. The base scale now matches across all three Archetypes.

    [/ QUOTE ]
So it's now -500% which Dark won't be able to get to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I recall correctly, in the upcoming I9 there will be -regen resistances that will affect Lingering Radiation and Radiation Infection hence these figures may be provisional.

    Crazy SG idea?

    [ QUOTE ]
Hehe - I had the most excruciating experience on the Synapse TF on Friday last week - Bounty was 40xp short of levelling - but was way outside the level range for the TF, so I had to play for about 4 hours hovering just below levelling!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I remember, I was there and Viperfang dinged 21 during the 1st hour so I also was most f the TF without further XP. That is why I mentioned on my previous post "probably won't mind doing the TF without XP", we're used to it!
  15. [ QUOTE ]
but don't say we didn't warn you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Too late, I already told everyone in the office you never warned me
  16. Nightmarer

    Crazy SG idea?

I'm in. Today there's the Hami raid, but I'm definitely in for Wednesday - Thursday and Friday.
Providing everyone is at least lvl 10 and a few 15's we can offer SK.
The well known Task Force addicted (like myself and Aero) won't probably care of being 15 and not getting XP during TF. If someone thinks it's not worth doing a TF without getting XP the should probably stay on the 10-12 side and we'll offer SK
  17. [ QUOTE ]
No build up? You can get defeated for lacking damage output. As for accuracy i see foc acc + acc per attack which is ok for PVE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes you can but you can also get defeated for lack of dmg resistance.

    [ QUOTE ]
Med pool or tough...Med pool (replenish health versus any dam type and provide stimulant on the defender in team )

    [/ QUOTE ]
Agreed, i am just questioning the usefulness of Medicine pool at lvl 49-50

    [ QUOTE ]
Haste or Tough...Haste (better dps less fight duration)

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Hasten is in the build

    [ QUOTE ]
Fitness Pool or Tough...Fitness pool (lack of attack chains and end can hurt).

    [/ QUOTE ]
Fitness pool is in the build

    [ QUOTE ]
Half the damage you maybe subjected to can be avoided by positioning and assault. To be in the vicinity of AoEs aimed at someone else or not to be? To be in perception range of other extra mobs or not to be? To have build up and waste that guy faster before his next survivability peak and so be attacked less cos he is dead or not to have? Id get build up it also saves on end as you do more damage per end. My build up before stamina became a psuedo stamina

    [/ QUOTE ]
Got the point, still decided to go the other way and the positioning/assault tactic can be valid without Build Up.

    [ QUOTE ]
I couldnt do a BS/SR as the combo wouldnt gel to my liking in a way that i couldnt get enough powers that Id want to complete a scrapper with but a BS/Inv might.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Very tempted of swapping to BS/DA for a total challenge.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Fine, you win, I'm tired of banging my head against a wall, but don't say we didn't warn you.

Look, reread Shannon's post and for Pete's sake, take it in. You've had three people question this build, maybe, just maybe, we might have a point?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey, relax plz, I never said you don't have a point at all. In fact I think I mentioned many times the build is risky, may not be affordable on endurance terms and I kept all the posts printed and stored in case I have to change it. I just feel I have to give the build a go.
  19. Nightmarer

    Crazy SG idea?

    [ QUOTE ]
Btw, for the people planning builds, Flash arrow's tohit debuff is more than twice the defence buff of manoeuvres

    [/ QUOTE ]

Soz m8, just an Off-Topic question, was your signature previously quoting Deathdude? thx
  20. Well, I don't want to fall on the "will not work for you but works for me" thing. Let's say you have your playstile, I have mine. I see nothing wrong in dealing a good dmg but trying to put the tools for not to faceplant and that doesn't mean I want a tank. That remark as unfair as if I told you "well, what you want is a pure damage dealer, go roll a blapper, fire/energy will do for you".
  21. Well, at the end of the day it's a matter of choices. Don't get me wrong, I can see and understand the importance of Build Up, however my scrappers usually have defense first in mind, before dmg. I think Tough makes often the difference on a /SR scrapper, in this case is not only by previous experience, I also got that from the Arkana's guide that Firekitty quoted on previous post.
Of course I admit I may be stretching too mush in a BS as also Shannon pointed. On the other hand, other powersets with less dmg output than BS can make good scrappers (true, mainly PvE oriented).
I personally prefer to be last man standing than being the highest damage dealer (easy said than done of course) that's why I really want to give it a go, as I said on previous post, this may not happen on a broad sword, believe me i rellay keep your advice in mind.

    Hojem Hits 50

Yes, Hojem hit 50 a few minutes ago, Big Congratulations to her on the Big Ding. The Organization would also thank Mother Mayhem and her minions for their valuable contribution in the form of easy deaths to this happy event.

    Gratz and well done
  23. Mmmm that's an interesting question, my only TA/AR is only lvl 11, a few lvls ago i thought it wasn't required because of vigilance, however, in the SG we do mishes with full teams of TA/AR and we have noticed that, as the accuracy debuffs of flash arrow and other TA attacks stack nicely, we don't receive enough damage to keep vigilance fully working and our end bars get drained in no time, we have to rest more than a /DA scrapper. Specially my toon that has both maneuvers and assault (also the maneuvers stack prevents from taking dmg hence vigilance is not that effective).
Having the free respec coming with the anniversary, I would try without it and if later you find out you need it then use the respec.
Of course full TA/AR teams are not that ususal so you may find out that by teaming with different AT's who can receive more damage then your vigilance will be enough for you not to require stamina.
  24. Ok, now I think the build I am going to at least try on my BS/SR and the one I would advise to at least give a go is the following one:

    ---------------------------------------------

    Taking into consideration the following:

1.- For some reason I am obsessed in complementing SR with some damage resistance, hence Tough, yet to be seen if can be done in terms of endurance. As per the Build Planner it seems so, but if I recall correctly there are not many Build Planners updated. In fact, /SR is by far my favourite scrapper secondary pool and my experience on it showed me that Tough makes the heck of a difference on a /SR scrapper (preferibly complemented with Weave). Having said that, I also admit I never tried it with such a demanding primary as BS on the endurance side, my biggest fear now is that if I find out Tough can by no means maintained on the build I may delete the scrapper.

2.- Maybe Build Up is missing ,but choices had to be made and a this may also be interesting. Less powerful weapons than BS can also be effective, as much as it's a pity not to maximize the dmg of it, may be worth a go, although that, by taking Hasten at lvl 50, if already used to the BS recharging times then Build Up can be taken instead of Hasten. I am personally not inclined to it because I feel the dmg output of a BS is enough, but that's me.

3.- Still lacking a travel power, the combo hurdle-combat jumping-sprint and go jumping all the way, not being a proper travel power is sensibly faster than sprint-swift-quickness and might be enough, although there's always the option of respec if teammates annoyed and go for Hasten-Super Speed, bear in mind the availability of temp travel powers that if well dosified can last for a long time (you can get raptor pack in radio mishes in KR and Zero-G pack on radio mishes in Steel) so it can be an intermediate solution, if when these are extinguished a travel power is really required then the respec option. If you have the jump pack that comes with the Pocket D VIP Pass, that plus slotting hurdle and sprint with jump SO's will provide enough vertical movement for choosing superspeed taking advantage of Hasten.

4.- As pointed before by Firekitty, the 2.5% defence by 3 defbuff slotting passives is not to be missed.

5.- As per Steampunk comment on Whirling sword, I left it until lvl 44 when in order to go through AV's story-arc a team is a must, hence at these lvls is where to get the most of the attack since a scrapper can pretty mush reach the 40's soloing (not at all saying it's not helpful earlier if teaming most of the time).

6.- Medicine pool, that may be a HUGE mistake by my side to skip it, although it is helpful, to be taken at 49-50 may also be too late, if you made your way so far without needing it, may not be that useful now, on the other hand, the biggest problem in all the builds I tried was WHEN to allocate the powers so I couldn't come myself either with a better timing for medicine pool hence i decided to skip it.

7.- I have to admit Conserve power can by no means be skipped in this powersets combination

8.- Still think 2 Acc slots per attack is too much and unnecessary after Focused Accuracy, that's why I gave priority to recharge rate, although a compromise may be reached if more acc required before FA then some attacks can be slotted with a recrate to keep the chain a little faster and others with 2acc to improve accuracy if required, at the end of the day every lvl ()2 and ()7 new different enhancements can be put on slots anyway.

If Fire_B is willing to try the build I suggest (forget about the slotting lvls, I made it quickly) he should keep in mind (I will try it and will surely do) to keep a respec (there's a free one coming ) to be ready to take Medicine Pool or Build Up in case Tough is not affordable.

I already printed all the posts in this thread since, although I am going to try to give a go to this buid when time comes to my Union BS/SR, I learnt a lot here (and I hope so did Fire_B being the original poster and anyone reading the thread) and I want to keep the info handy in case the build cannot be maintained).

If I am in need of info about scrappers, I would be glad to have your assistance and your opinion to keep learning and hopefully improving my scrapping.

    Crazy SG idea?

11:30 GMT too late for me, I am sure my boss would be happy (and surprised) to see me getting to the office on time at least once a week.
Anyway, we'll catch up during the week
