Personally, I feel that one of the best parts of the celestial thing is that it's rather ambiguous- it could apply to the angelic (Sky) the alien (The aliens) the mystical (Crystal), or simply anybody who was called upon as part of the group.
However, I do think we ought to determine things like a group symbol, if any, and whether we're arcane or tech or what, before we get into the name debate, just because I feel it's an issue that takes more thought and consideration- and may affect our choice of name.
i do think that our group, much like the JLA, should be arcane, and tech, and natural, and whatever else. =) our group should be generally inclusive, and i think our symbol and themes should reflect that. -

GB's ties to a "celestial" background/origin will be a stretch, as in only his costume is of a higher power. His backstory is kinda a cross between The Greatest American Hero and Green Lantern. As in he got lucky to have the suit (GAH) which grants him all these cool powers, but also those who bestowed the suit upon him chosehim for a reason. (GL)
also, let's not forget that Earth is, like, in space.
humans are all aliens to, well, aliens. so we're a totally valid planet for selections in anything celestial as much as any other planet. just like GL joining the corp.

For AVs, in general, I try not to give them their mez protection powers, since the triangles are annoying enough for mezzers to have to deal with. Tier 9s I weigh heavily, and any +Regen I'm likely to throw straight out.

In seriousness, I don't know how I feel about the Alien focus. I think it seems far more plausible that the Aliens gathered from across the galaxy to face whatever impending threat it is. Rikti and Lost aren't really in the "Holy war" category- most Religious archetypes would be more interested in healing and saving them than in smiting them with holy glowy smitingness.
Personally, I'm seeing something along the lines of an impending doom, possibly one of which the characters are only vaguely aware. (Related to the Coming Storm, perhaps, or possibly something to do with maintaining timelines or dimensions or whatnot?)
hehe, i was simply stating that i think God is a being that i would qualify as having "galactic power" (at least!) =)
i guess there was thinking that a variety of cosmic powers had gathered their chosen champions and brought them together to face a coming threat (and journey together and grow together.) though we don't really know that (though sky might since she would be the one with the closest contact to her "power".) -

That many aliens isn't a big problem at all. If you look at the animated Justice League, J'onn J'onz, Superman, and Hawkgirl are all aliens, Batman is another natural (or maybe tech), GL and Flash are science, and Wonder Woman is Magic.
Another question to ask is what role (outside of archetypes) do people see their character's taking in the party? I see Crystal as being the heart of the team. The ultimate optimist, and team mom, for lack of a better term.
that's a really good question i hadn't considered. i don't rightly know what role Unaitus will play, but i imagine it will be strict and disciplined.

i actually like the simplicity of GB's story, Philly. it has a certain classic feel to it. a feel i, too, was trying to capture in my Zod/Superman inspired bg.
well, my only concern about going the alien route is that, what about the non-aliens among us? i wouldn't want them to feel left out.
i was actually surprised by how many of us were aliens. =) it's like the Galactic Congress over here.
it was an awesome first night, everyone! i look forward to next week! so are we planning to do the whole Hollows mission tree? i'd like to. i've never completed the whole thing. -
ok. i'm thinking, Unaitus arrives here in, say 2007. He spends a few years trying to acclimate to his new life on Earth, learning the language and culture.
He eventually gets a job at a power plant with his new earth identity and now, feeling settled yet seeing the need on the battlefield of Paragon, decides it's time to start giving back a little more. he decides to sign up as a registered hero.
Looking over the paperwork he notices a checkbox. "Would you like to be matched to a team? The team selection process is very thorough and designed to match compatibility over 100 parameters to ensure an optimal and complimentary fit."
Knowing that a warrior is only as good as the squad he fights with, he checks... Y.

Ok I just figured as heroes, we would want to stop all kinds of crime. And, btw, right now we are the "up and coming" heroes. So there.
So we won't clean up the street crimes that are below our lvl, but we surely can fight baddies that are at least conning blue to us?
i'm fine with the occasional street sweep during the low levels, but i don't really want an expectation of sweeping from mission to mission. that'll take a lot of time. missions can sometimes be a mile away, or in another zone. not to mention that often team members have different ideas about how best to get to a mission, we have different travel powers, some people want to sell or take care of salvage storage. we're not always together between missions.
personally, i prefer to spend most of my time in missions and doing content. but that's not to say i won't occasionally try and clean up an area around the mission door while i'm waiting for the team to gather.
i'm more inclined to let things flow naturally than try and make it a rule. -

how do Super Reflexes and Energy Aura hold up in the hands of an AV? workable or useless?
Will an AV be too easy if I go with a set like, say, Poison instead of a Defensive set?
and, correct me if i'm wrong, but we still have to pick sets, right? i can't, say, mix a little from poison, spines, energy melee, etc., right? -

as fun as that may seem in *concept*, in practice i don't really want to stop every 50 feet to beat a grey con. my time is limited and precious.
and the JLA generally has more important, immediate world-shattering missions to attend to and can leave the purse snatching to the up-and-coming heroes. hey, ya gotta prioritize.
