I'm not going to touch the Wine vs. Cedega debate with a 10 foot pole.

I've been using Wine now for a few years to play COH. Until recently the experience has been pretty good. But...
Since I17 has come out I've run into more and more issues playing with Wine. Now I have to set -renderthreads to 0, limiting the use of this nice quad-core CPU, or the game never starts. The audio dies after a few moments of play, and I absolutely hate playing without sound. I only get a fraction of the capabilities of my Nvidia video card, and have the feeling that the video could be much better than I'm seeing now. Upgrading to Ubuntu 10.04 has only complicated the issue.
I've tried running a virtual copy of Windows XP using VirtualBox 3.1.6, but COH crashes hard as soon as it starts loading. Something in DirectX is dying (I suspect), but I haven't nailed it down yet.
So - will using Cedega fix all these issues for me? I'm willing to pay some if I can get the full game experience. How does Cedega work now that I17 is out? What can I expect to improve and what will I just have to live with? Will paying for Cedega provide me with technical support for issues which crop up when new issues come out or new Linux functions are released?
Thanks in advance, and have a wonderful night!
Nick
