There we go, make it a toggle that increases damage, but the negative is a loss of some defense/resist.

I think it's probably because SS is the only set that has Rage...
[/ QUOTE ]
I think i should have a second cup of caffeine before posting.
The SS/Rage thing was obvious and i spent time going through the pages looking. Definitely blonde moment.
Doesn't change the analysis though. UP the damage of SS, and make rage truly situational. Everyone wins. and then this thread can stop. -
It looks to me, reading the posts, that the biggest users of Rage are SS tanks. That seems to be because we don't do enough damage without it.
So, it seems that a reasonable fix would be to just increase SS damage, and leave Rage the way it is, or nerf it even a bit more, making it non-perma. That would seem to solve most of the issues.
1: SS tanks wouldn't have to try and run it perma as our damage would now be equal to SS+Rage.
2: It would become a situational power like the devs wanted.
Any comments? And if it seems like this ends up being a good idea why haven't the devs considered it? -

Once again, I find myself agreeing 100% with Goldie.
Just take out Rage and replace it with Build Up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Build up sucks as well. and isn't really effective for an SS tank. since we don't really have AoE powers its build up doesn't last long enough to really do damage.
Rage, when its on, makes me comparable in damage to the fire tankers i hang with. without it i'm a second class citizen.
Why do the devs think it needs a negative effect? I can see if they raised SS damage to be equal to battleaxe or fire tankers and made rage a + bonus beyond that with a nerf at the end. Currently i see SS as a second class tank. I had fun with him. and made it work to the end. But with the current changes i am not happy at all, and probably won't play him much. -
there is a new version of rage on test. when i used it my end dropped from 105 to 85. a 20 point loss. So it doesn't seem to be a percentage loss, not on my tank anyway, but a straight up point loss.
I still question why there needs to be ANY loss at all. I would ask for someone at NCsoft to explain that to me. but since they don't seem to like to answer questions I guess i won't ask. -

I had thought that Rage would be fixed/tweaked with today's update...

I think we all were expecting a fix. Sad really...
[/ QUOTE ]
Whats sad is that the programmers can't even seem to figure out how to rollback the changes. Wonder if it was outsourced. -

Personally, at this point I believe they are watching how Rage is used in it's current form and will make a decision based on that data. It wouldn't surprise me if they announced either a) "Never mind, we decided the old version was fine afterall." or b) "Nevermind, we decided the new version was fine afterall."

I posted this in another thread as well, but why does rage have to have a negative? Since all it does is give SS the same damage as other tank types shouldn't it be penalty free? -
[ QUOTE ]
SS is a dead horse and its amazing with all of the complaints that the devs thought an end burn would be an wise penalty change?
[/ QUOTE ]
I posted this in another thread, but i was curious how many people are still playing their SS tanks.
I have shelved mine and started a scrapper instead. (actually tried a defender ,god to i suck at that). -
I just think its funny that rage is so hard to fix.
who would have thought that a simple multiplier stat would be so hard. I would have thought that in the age of modular code it would have been easy to swap one rage module for another rage module.
Maybe its not the programmers fault, but the associated manager. Any manager worth their pay should make sure that coding is modular and easily fixed/rolled back.
So, the length of time taken to get a fix out leads me to believe that either the programmer is incompetent, or the manager is incompetent. Or, they just don't care to fix it.
Take your pick.
But that is just my opinion. -
Did you notice there is a new patch on the test server. fixes a cape issue and adds some cool water effects.
It looks like they assigned the programmers that went to the "Sally Struthers School of Programming and VCR repair" to the rage fix and everyone else got the good ones. -

Overall, can we just leave tanks alone for a while? Can we stop this recent and endless tinkering? I have a feeling there are a lot of tanks who are running out of respecs trying to keep up w/ all of this.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree whole heartedly with the "leave tanks alone for a while" thought.
As far as respecs go I still have 3 left, and i'm level 50. I made it to level 50, never using a respec. I just planned out what powers i wanted, and how i wanted to take them. I did the respec TF's for the badge and the respec, but i really never planned on using them. With proper planning, and the test server, you can realy design your character well without making mistakes. So, i used the one free respec when I3 came out, thinking it was all well and good and i would be done changing my character. I spent close to a week testing different combos out on test trying to get my character just right.
So, now that all invulnerability and SS have been changed from my original character concept i was wondering if I could trade in all of my current respecs, for a SuperRespec that will allow me to change my powers. I'm not too sure i like inv/ss with the current changes. Or maybe you could develop a level 50 tf that will lets you get a superrespec that modifies not just the slots in the powers, but the types of powers themselves. Rebuilding from scratch.
I mean a high level dose of radiation could have the effect of scrambling my current powers and giving me others couldn't it? -

Until then we have to make due.
[/ QUOTE ]
Make due? I made due when they made the changes to invul before. I made due when i lost perma unstop, i respeced it out. I made due when i had to spend almost a solid day on test figuring out how to mix certain powers to make my invul/ss tank playable, not just at 50, but also at lower levels when i exemped down to help out my SG mates. Now i have to make due again?
I have never seen devs screw [censored] up like they do here. I used to play a game called "the realm" cheesy little MMOG. The devs there screwed up a lot too. finally everyone left as it wasn't any fun anymore. I'm not saying they are all bad because they do add some cool things. Winterlord being one of them. but the fact that I have to completely relearn a character evrytime a patch comes out is insane. I have 6 slotted hasten and 2 slotted rage. I died 3 times in a mission fighting level 52 mobsters. First 2 times were because i wasnt' paying attention and when my end dropped to 0 and all of my toggles dropped i thought I had been mezzed somehow. so i took it on the chin. The third time i noticed what happened and was in shock. i had to open a browser and go read the changes. I agree with the dude that said that such a severe change should have been put in the login screen.
So, now my tank has to adapt to another play style. one where LT's, Bosses, and AV's have more health, and i do LESS damage. I was already the lowest damage tank out there.
Ok, enough of my rant.
Is it going to be fixed? if so, when? If not then those of you that want to start a guild on EQ2 send me email. Id rather give my money to devs that aren't screwing me.
