i11 has been released! I've been looking forward to this all month! The first thing I did was build those vanguard claws that I can never correctly remember the name of!
Then... it sorta fell apart. My costume changes took 400k EACH, which would have been cut in half by the free tailor token, but someone goofed there. Understandable, and I can earn the inf back relatively quickly. However... the announcement of a free respec in addition to the respec recipes got me pretty excited, until I read Lighthouse's post that they're withholding said free respec until December 7th. Over a week away, with no explaination that I've seen!
LAME LAME LAME. I can't stress that enough... I've been waiting to respec my main for awhile now due to some pretty sorry power choices, yet now it'll cost me loads of inf or time to get one before the week is over, AND I'll have a free one sitting there unused afterward. Can we PLEASE get a good reason for this? I've not read one, and it would put my mind at ease if there was a reason for not handing out the respec now.

Hi Anonym,
Our apologies that you were inconvenienced by the timing of the free Tailor Tokens and Respec. With free respecs we've always given at least a good week's time for people to assess their options post release before making the respec available. That way, they can also make use of any respec they may already have (because the free ones do not stack). Also, it allows any new characters made (like the many in this issue made to play with the new power sets) the option to respec.
Hopefully you can understand our reasons for the timing on this respec.
[/ QUOTE ]
I knew the respec was coming on Dec. 7th and could guess why... however, I thought we were getting the free costume tokens immediately with Issue 11 going live. I mean, how could you not expect everyone to be rushing to the tailor to change their hairstyles, weapons, and other little details?
Unless that was the point... make us blow lots of influence on these items and give us the freebie tokens later. "Ooops, here ya go. Too bad about that influence/infamy, though. Guess you'd better get out and earn more."

All of those really big pie in the sky ideas that we've dreamed about for so long and couldn't do because there was no one who could implement them...that's all back on the table. The sky is literally the limit.

BAB sez we kan gets SKY PIE!!!

do not want!!
I want can has a cheeseburger, please. -
Let's not dwell on the negatives or talk about why its good or bad that Jack's no longer with the game. This is a happy time where we should be looking foward to the positive things to come...
...and be demanding that they give us details, details, details about those things to come...
...right now.
...or, at the very least, some sort of cheeseburger. -

The thing that has excited me most about this whole deal is that I can only see great things coming for all of you guys as the players of this game. And to me, that's what this is deal is all about. Making the game awesome for as many of you as we can. That was ultimately the biggest factor in my decision to leave Cryptic and join NCSoft. All of those things that we've had to push back or write off as taking too many resources to get done in the limited time frames and limited manpower.
[/ QUOTE ]
Does this include power customization? I know, I know... you can't and/or won't commit to an answer on that, but can you at least tell us whether or not this much-desired feature will at least go back on the table for consideration?? ...or is this one really just a lost cause?
[ QUOTE ]
All of the bugs or QoL issues that have been lingering for what seems like forever because the programmers were too busy fixing the major bugs. All of those really big pie in the sky ideas that we've dreamed about for so long and couldn't do because there was no one who could implement them...that's all back on the table. The sky is literally the limit. It's been really tough having to make decisions on what would be the 'best bang for the buck' and I'm really looking forward to having the recourses so that won't be such a deciding factor moving forward.
[/ QUOTE ]
I remember one of those big pie in the sky ideas of the past was the potential for a personal nemesis for our characters showing up in missions at times. Will there be any more consideration on this idea or is this another one of those "too much effort to even see talk of it anytime in the near future?
[ QUOTE ]
Of course, just putting more resources into the game wouldn't cut it by itself. We have a fantastic team that's been working 100% (or more in some cases) on CoH/CoV and every single one of us has made the move to stay with on this project and with this team. So now we've got a lot more recourses, the same fantastic team, the same great game to pour all our energies into, and the best bunch of players to create that content for. Personally, I've never heard of a situation like this in the game industry. It just doesn't happen.
[/ QUOTE ]
Here's the big question on my mind: Now that you guys are actually competition and not the same company with different teams working on similar projects, how do you feel about the potential competition of Cryptic's MUO game?? ...and no cop out answers about the two being different, we already got that from an interview with Jack. On a basic level, even though the two games are likely to be worlds apart (literally as well as figuratively), how do you feel about competing with their super hero genre MMO?
[ QUOTE ]
I am completely stoked. You guys should be too. We literally would not be here without you guys.
[/ QUOTE ]
And don't you forget it, buster!!
Seriously, though... in spite of any naysayers, I do have a very good feeling about all this.
[ QUOTE ]
There's going to be a period of transition as we move into the new studio, staff up, and train those new people in using our systems...but we're going to do our damnedest to make sure you guys don't notice and very shortly after that you will notice the results of this. I really wish I could talk about the things we have planned, but it's not my job...so I don't get that privilege.
[/ QUOTE ]
Uh-huh... period of quiet time, got it. In the mean time, push the other person out and tell them to get working on their job!! We want details. Also, I want a cheeseburger because I bought both CoH and CoV (twice, even) and I feel like I need to be compensated like so many others.
Cheeseburger now, please.
[ QUOTE ]
All of this is still bittersweet. I have nothing but good things to say about Cryptic, they're a fantastic studio who created a fantastic game and they're now moving on to create more fantastic games. I'm truly going to miss working with them. I'm sure this was a tough decision for them to give up the controlling share of the franchise, but one thing that probably helped make it easier is that they knew their creation was being passed into the absolute best of hands. There is no other group of people in the world who care about this game and it's players like we do.
[/ QUOTE ]
So much for that answer I was looking for about the Marvel MMO.
[ QUOTE ]
Looking forward to a very bright future for this game and all of you guys. We love you all of you. You drive us nuts sometimes, but we still love you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Honestly, if we didn't drive you nuts, you wouldn't cave and give us nearly as much stuff as we demand. Look forward to more nuts-driving. Can I say that?? "Nuts-driving"?? -
I want a cheeseburger, please.
Otherwise I feel gipped for paying for both CoH and CoV.
Cheeseburger... definitely cheeseburger.
(Will also accept couponz for free cheeseburger at any national franchise burger-type eatery.) -

There has been a fair amount of "I feel ripped off" "I lost money" etc, type stuff. Perhaps not from you, but its been somewhat widespread in the various threads.
[/ QUOTE ]Mostly because those people want to feel jipped or something. Anyone that feels ripped off or jipped, as it were, are delluding themselves on the highest level honestly. If you have been playing the game for any time period with both sides active for quite a qhile now then, you are not being ripped off or jipped. You have a long time up on people who did not have both sides.
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally, I would like some sort of compensation...
A cheeseburger would be nice. -

My concern is that it'll turn into SWG all over again.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am an optimist on this score. The industry saw the player reaction to the shenanigans with SWG and I hope that something was learned.
Also, my personal opinion is that if anything, CoX will not get that kind of changes, but will be used as a cash cow to set up the rest of the franchise - whether this is MMO/single player games in different styles or even a sequel, where they go to town with crazy ideas good and bad.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree 100% with spidermonster on this. Statesman left CoX over a year ago to help develop Marvell Online. Everyone else who has been working on CoX for the last (awesome) year is moving with the game to the new studio. Even grumpy, yet lovable BAB...
Any similarity between this news and SWG's "New Game Enhancement" debacle is, well, I just am not seeing it.
Cautiously optimistic...

Posi and I did want to make this the year where we gave fans what they've been asking for!
[/ QUOTE ]
Really, so you're giving brutes more weapon sets... some of the scrapper/tanker sets ported over?
Because, you know, we have been asking for that. A lot. -
My faith in them won't be justified until I see total power customization --not just weapons.

Thanks for the hard info, Doc!
EDIT: First post after redname... w00000!

Really, why is this such a big deal? Does this afford you some sense of self-importance? Is it really something to "w00000!" orabout?
Try following a red name and adding something useful to the conversation... and let someone else do the cheering for your words, not the time stamp on your message. -

So... bases aren't fun, but they made it into the game anyhow. But isn't that the reason why the big skills system never made it into the game, being cut before any players had a chance to see and test it --not fun?
[/ QUOTE ]
Bases were supposed to be fun, and in theory they are. The implication is that no version of the skill system they could come up with would be anywhere near as 'fun', even on paper.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, that is the implication, isn't it? However, I think he means that if they failed to realize this wouldn't be fun in practice, how do we know whether or not their judgement was off determining if the skill system would not increase the fun factor of the game?
As someone pointed out with bases, they justed assumed they knew what the players wanted and designed away. Had they asked first, things may have gone smoother. Maybe if they asked about the skills stuff, that could have worked out.
And Circeus, you liked the Enhancement Diversification change?? All I can say is, that takes away all credibility away from your statements in my eyes. Granted, the idea isn't too bad in theory, but the implementation is far too harsh. I think the diminished returns should be toned down a little... going from 3 enhancements giving roughly 95% and only adding about 20% for 3 more seems too drastic. -
The trouble is, I have like 18 alts and no mains... I would know which one to ask you to render.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but I've only recently started posting on these forums and 45 pages of this thread is an awful lot to catch up on.
One thing I've noticed that bugs me to no end is the glove option called "Sleeves" for females. This didn't used to happen to me when I played last year, but since reactivating my account a couple months ago I've noticed that the sleeves make a female hero's left arm look shorter than the right one.
Check out my screenies below. The inside of the right-hand sleeve has the color of the sleeve in it... but the left-hand sleeve has flesh color inside and creeeping outside the sleeve as well.
