Hmm, well being able to run in windows mode helped... a bit.. slightly.. But not enough to actually play. It took a long time to get to the login screen, and longer than usual to get to character select. That seemed fine though, swapping between characters. Then I tried to log into a character and it took so long to load up that I timed out and was disconnected due to inactivity when the progress bar was about 1/3 the way across.

Wait, servers are down? *facepalm* I thought it was just my problems... though it still could be the problems, but at least in windowed mode I can see the background screen now. It just... takes... forever... to... load... Then when I signed in it crashed on me. Well, try again later when the servers are up.

Oooh, ice cream. Thanks Rooky. It's looking to be a scorcher again today, that's for sure. Though honestly, it hasn't been as bad this year as the last couple of years. Even the Yellow Devil seems to be in remission, I didn't have to dose myself silly in alergy medicine this year to get through.

Hello Emerald and Dave. I wonder who that was lurking back there in the shadows. Thank you for your words of support, and you're always welcome here, same as everybody else. I don't think the 'start a new thread to be more accessable to newcomers' was ever in the charter or anything. (Wait.. we have a charter?) But it is one of those things that is observable. It's a lot harder to break into something that's been going on for a long time. But by starting new every day, that lowers the accessability bar by a lot, making it a more welcoming place. And that definetly is in the charter. If we have one.

Important detail about the social group: It's not public. I know, that may seem obvious, but it flies in the Rookery. tradition of being open to anyone. A number of good friends have been made because they show up one day, like the wackiness and keep coming back. If we were shoved into the back corner where we could be ignored, most of those people wouldn't show up, and it would become the cliquish group we've occasionally been accused of being. And as you said, it wouldn't stop the haters from hating, so go slinking off like we're doing something wrong when we aren't just to satisfy a loudly complaining minority?

Yup. Looking forward to i16. Ironically, I'm kinda starting to not look forward to September because tons of new games and stuff will be made available in that month... So much to do and buy, so little time and money...

Happy to have Windows 7 too. Just wish I could get COX to work with it. Everything else I've tried does, and COX did too, before the i15 patch. But now even using all the fixes they've posted in the tech forums it just refuses to run. Starts up and hangs up at a black screen with the music playing. Has to be something with my video card, windows 7 and COX, but rolling back to old drivers like they suggest doesn't help.

Well, I logged in and was hit in the face with a five minute warning they were bringing down the server. Seems the new patch screwed things up (surprise surprise) and they're bringing all the servers down for "Two Hours" to roll back the last version. So much for the group tonight then. And the boards are slow as crap right now too.
