Actually BP, I think they're just letting us in on the 18th to reserve our names. We don't actually get to play the pre-order head start till the 20th.

Out of curiosity what servers have you picked? I went with what the people in the Aion group suggested for open beta. Israphel for Elyos characters and Nezeken for Asmodeans. The global chat on both servers was... horrid. But from what I had head, it was pretty much the same on every server. Every internet comedian grabbed a free open beta trial and went to down spewing their garbage constantly. That and constant requests to find the same two quest items, no matter how many times the question was answered. (At least for the Elyos).

I'm not really tied to those servers, but it might be a good idea to have one east and one west coast server (like those two are). That way, if one server location goes down I can still play. After all, this is NCSoft. They love doing that with City of...

I was talking about Friday night again Fedor. When we were to have the static team. With all the confusion and apparent technical problems with just seeing people who are online, I'm starting to wonder if it's worth bothering. So far it's just been a big source of aggravation and nothing else.

Rad and I were at the docks. I had my friends list open with everyone's character names they had given me, but I didn't see anyone else, despite people saying they were there. So I don't know what's up with that.

I don't know puppy. I added your character to my friends list and had it open, but I didn't see you come online. Oddly enough, it didn't get me a listing for your class and level either, like it normally does. First name is just Cien, right? Even if you were in another area or a different instance of an area I should still see people when the are on the server. No cross server communication or globals like with COX, unfortunately.

Well, after waiting an hour and nobody else showing, decided to call it a no-go for this week. I didn't want us to get ahead to far of the brand new characters other people had. So we'll all meet up next Saturday, 'kay?

Rad and I are in game, and I have everyone's characters in my friends list, but so far I don't see anybody. It's 7:20, we're on Cannith Server and waiting by the docks in Harbor-3. If you get online, just send a tell to Dorica, if I don't see you first.

I've added your and BP's characters to my friends list already. I haven't got the others yet. But I'll be heading into game soonish, and people can whisper me when they get on. You just use the first name when sending tells and such by the way.

We're meeting on the docks right where you exit from Korthos island, in Stormreach itself. You can do some of the quests on Korthos about saving them from a Devourer cult and pick up some nice quest rewards, or leave for Stormreach at any time by talking to the first mate on the docks of the island.

We'll be meeting at 7pm eastern. Probably knock out a couple of the longer level 2 group quests like Butcher's Path.

In other news, Dorica is at the docks in Stormreach ready for tonight.

Well, a large part of the slow download speeds is going to be the fact that it's just gone free, and a lot of people are trying to get a copy. I have no doubt their FTP server is absolutely pounded.

Of course, this also leads to the problem that the general channels are an absolute cesspit of trolling and stupidity right now. And a lot of people who clearly didn't RTFM. Asking the most basic, simple questions showing they didn't pay attention during or skipped over the tutorial and are now shocked they don't know how to do anything.

Getting the same problem with Aion right now, in open beta. A lot of people really seem to be just logging in to talk trash about the game or troll about any and everything, or asking the same questions over and over again, no matter how many times it's answered. It's like a non stop annoying hum just loud enough that you can't ignore it. I've often taken to the point of just shutting off the public channels, like the old WoW Barrens Chat. What little useful info you might get is completely buried under tons of drek.

It can't be just that you downloaded it. Plenty other people have without problem. You can download the hi res version and see if that works, just leave it running over night...

I honestly don't know if I'll even be through all the Korthos Island quests by tomorrow night either. I can always cut it short and leave before finishing. Well, either way, I'll be there.

I think tomorrow won't be a great time, because some people are just now getting the game. I'm not saying you have to skip the starting stuff, just that you can if you want to get right into it. I've never actually skipped it myself, so I'm not sure how, but I seem to remember one of the talk options being that I could leave early. I know you could in the old tutorial. I would kind of recommend that people do the tutorial/Korthos Island stuff at least once, because it does set you up with some nice gear. But if someone was in a hurry, they could skip it.

As far as time goes, how is 7pm EST for people on Saturday? Those that do have characters ready can meet tomorrow at the docks and we can do something. There's no harm in repeating quests after all.
