3 little words will solve this issue right away:

    IT'S
A <---(technically not a word, its a letter but in this situtation it IS a word)
    GAME

[/ QUOTE ]A when used in that context is an adjective, therefore a real word.

    Anyway,
    *big breath*
    DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

That too, but it is still four words. It's is a contraction of it and is.

(( counts on her fingers ))

    yes. four words

    Yeah, we really do...

    I'll take that bet.

    You'll lose.

Well. If losing that bet means we get those nifty hats, I will gladly lose the bet

And amongst my ancestors they WERE regarded as dieties.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um, how would you know? Have you spoken to your ancestors lately?

With all respect to your personal beliefs, there simply is no record of what people believed back then, and it's mere conjecture that the Tuatha de Danaan might have been gods re-rendered as heroes. Check out any half-decent history book on the subject. 'The Pagan Religions of the Early British Isles' is excellent.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have not read this book in particular but logic dictates that those mythologies originated from tales told of the bronze age invasion of Ireland where the then dominant tribe was wiped out by the invaders, with the survivors fleeing for the wilds or being enslaved (they did that kind of things in those days you know )
Anyway, in the typical drinking-hole bragging style the tales of victories got taller the more time passed, and what better way to show how great you are by attributing mythological powers to the enemies you defeated? Makes for more popular stories to tell a couple of generations down the line. Then, in the typical fashion of oral traditions, the historical narrative got mixed up with the mythologies, both original and imported from the defeated trieds. Add in christianisation that added its own unique flavour to (what could be told of) the stories and you end up with a situation where 1500 or more years after the original events nobody knows what is truth, fiction and wishful thinking.

Of course, that is a bit too cold and harsh, and personally I prefer the more mythical interpretation

That said, I would have prefered it if the Tuatha de Danaan were protrayed as tall, beautiful and immensely powerful humanoid beings rather than the 'cloven-hoof' pseudo-devil from that one screenshot.

Although it would be nice if my own culture, beyond ninjas and anime, was well represented, creating a zone based on Momotaro seems impractical, at best. If they had made a zone with shaggy monsters, and called them Japanese shaggy monsters, heck, that would have been cool with me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey, you already got the tentacle monster and the matching schoolgirl outfits.
Even if it was not called a japanese tentacle monster.
A Kitsune showing up in some missions would be way cool though. Especially if you could not know if it was going to help or annoy you

No what makes it hard to group and enjoy missions is the fact that grouping is simply not as profitable as soloing. The reason people are pl'ing is because the investment in running missions in terms of advancement is laughable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It seems to me is that this is the difference in attitude that is at the root of this particular argument. (I would hesitate to call this thread a discussion anymore)

If the aim is to gain levels as quickly as possible then, yes, herding and mission resetting and farming are the obvious techniques to apply to that particular problem.
Others are more inclined to see doing missions and grouping to be the aim. There really is not much to argue about, since these are philosophical differences almost, much like taste in food, art and music.

I agree Stateman and his Carebear crew telling us what is fun is uncalled for.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now that is not the smartest thing to do. Insulting the man responsible for making this game. Not really called for either.
Not to mention that the insult itself misses all ground in relation to the decisions being ranted at in this thread.

    [ QUOTE ]
Many of us played our main from 1-50 with all missions, did all the TF's all the Trials and spent 1000 hours doing so.

Many of use even spent 500+ hours on toon # 2 getting it to what ever level.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is not meant as a personal attack, but ... why bother? I mean you complain that spending thousands of hours on playing the game gets boring. I assume you started an alt because there is nothing else to do once you reach level 50, so why bother to try to get it to level 50 as quickly as possible? You already know there is nothing to do at that level, and unless you are the tanker doing the herding it has to be the most boring activity in any game I can think of: sitting in an out of the way corner and, well, read a book or something.
Of course I may be entirely off here, but from the way wolf herding has been described that is what it amounts to when it is used for powerleveling? And all that only to get another character that has nothing else to do?

    slightly silly diatribe snipped

    [ QUOTE ]

Now for us going on toon #3 or 4 (even #7), the "fun" of killing the av for the 100th time, going into that cave the 100th time, killing 10000 monkeys for the 100th time is OVER.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We got that already yes. The question remains is: why do you insist on going through it yet another time. knowing there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?
Getting your seventh alt was clearly no fun for you. Having a level 50 character was not fun either. I am honestly confused why you insist on creating an 8th character and then use the quickest, least involved, play style to make that character not fun to play also?

Personally, I have no stake in this. I do not play remotely often enough to get even close to these praetorian missions, and frankly this whole discussion only confuses me. Both the intensity of the powerleveling is good and of the powerleveling is bad arguments. But I can not help being curious after the why of it.

...perhaps a sit pose that I can use without flashing the room...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hehe... try /em yoga it's not much but it is somthing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually /em kneel is marginally better, but both are still making me sit down like a guy would, and are still making me flash the room.

Devs, if you are by any chance reading this ... when girls sit down there is no risk of anything getting wedged in, so in general we tend to sit down with our legs closed. Especially so if we're wearing a skirt shorter than knee length... I am sure this is an extremely minor change that could be made to the one or two sit poses.
Pretty please? *making extra big, cute girly anime style eyes*

Well Statesman's already confirmed that theres no trenchcoat that its still in the que.

I begin to wonder what "latest styles from all around the world" really means. First they say "anime inspired costume options", then they say "latest styles from all around the world"...and then they say "no trenchcoat, still in the que."

Uh okay. So this update is basically all anime then.

    [/ QUOTE ]

(bold in the original post applied by me)

I have to admit being unable to following your logic.
The statements regarding the new clothes options so far are:

there's going to be hundreds of new options from styles all around the world.
there's going to be a sizeable selection of anime inspired clothes to chose from
there is not going to be any trenchcoats in this update.

I fail to see how statement number three translates into: there's only going to be anime costumes.
Nobody even said there is going to be anime costumes. It is likely but so far we only know for sure that some of the new options are going to be inspired by anime. And we still have to wait before we can find out which anime.
Is it going to be Sailor Moon? Vampire Hunter D? Gundam? Any of the thousands of other anime titles?

Also, how do you come to the conclusion that everybody not in Japan wears trenchcoats? Because that is what you are effectively saying when you make that rather impressive jump to your conclusion.

Personally? I would like to see skirts, but do not expect them because that would require extensive modeling with all the fight animations that would have to be redone.
I also would like to see more street clothes, and a better selection of comfortable women's shoes. And perhaps a sit pose that I can use without flashing the room.
However, I will wait to see what actually is in the next update and realise that anything that is added is a gift from the developers, not something I am somehow entitled to because I would like to see it. Other games charge for the privelege of new 'races', new customisation and new zones and stories to explore. Here you get them for free because the developers are just that nice. Not having some options we would like to see in no way diminishes our playing this game. Perhaps it is time we all stop acting as if it does.
