It says that Kefir is a fermented milk drink/heath food. How does it taste?
I've tried soy milk and threw up immediately (of course I'm also allergic to soy, but didn't know it till my Ex decided to turn me into a tofu guru).
Does Kefir taste like moldy jock straps, or is it tolerable? I tend to fear alot of the "Eastern Health Foods" because they end up tasting nasty. If Kefir is tolerable, I'd love to give it a shot. Reading on some of its benefits, I could use it.
(update here instead of Facebook: I haven't gone to a doctor. I don't have insurance and am having issues with the public health department's idea of a qualifying candidate. My blood glucose levels have been mid range. 95 when I woke up. 155 2 hours after a huge meal (Burger King Whopper, Med Onion Rings, and a Medium Dr. Pepper (not diet). That 155 is skewed though because I was drinking on that soda for 2 hours. Other tests are putting me around 120 after an hour and 45 minutes from the meal.
*yes I'm rationalizing and heavily in denial of specifics...*
I'm trying to find a way to afford to go get the tests. I just don't have insurance and a lot of doctors here won't take you without it.)

Highly tolerable in a smoothie, take some berries, h alf a banana and a titch of stevia powder with a cup of kefir, wizz i up in the blender. Voila.
By the way Stevia is an "herbal suppliment" that is very sweet. Up here in Canada it's known as a sweetener, but is not called such down in the USA due to big Sugar/HFC lobbies on the FDA so that's why it's not approved as a sweetener. It's a sweetener that does not affect blood glucose or insulin levels, and is approved for use with Diabetics up here in Canada. The protien in the Keifir will balance out the fruit in the smoothie for the insulin thing btw -

There's the science for Kefir vs Insulin levels -
Noire, it'll help LOWER your insulin levels! Just read the link I posted. It's really informative. Kefir is one of those little known superfoods.
Let's just say if Oprah ever tried it she'd be shouting it from the rooftops, like that acai berry thing. -
hehe. I just got done my Kefir smoothie.
Did you know that Kefir pro-biotics help lower the amounts of e-coli bacteria in your intestine? If you have too much e-coli in your gut, it produces an enzyme/toxin that is similar to insulin, and causes your body to react as such.
Crazy! (that info is in the link I posted about Kefir) -
Tomorrow is the South Beach Balsalmic chicken, the husband and kids will have mashed taters with it, I'm having cauliflower.
lol -
oh well. Today is Pork Katsu for supper over steamed japanese rice and some steamed asparagus
the carbs will fuel my swim after supper.
btw I'll be BAKING the Katsu intead of frying it. take a bit of olive oil, grease the pan, more oil and spritz it on the top..Bake it at high heat done, and not as fattening -
New meal diary up.

well I notice I'm toning up a bit so my pants are a bit looser. No real concrete weight loss as of yet. But eventually I'll be out of my size 16 jeans and back into my 12's!!!!

btw Noire, Here's a little blurb about Kefir, you can find the solid facts a little ways down
http://forum.lowcarber.org/archive/i...p/t-60936.html
apparently it helps in insulin stuffs
btw there are several books cited along with the ISBN numbers for you to look up the fact the person is talking about yourself.
Kefir is sooo good.
Strawberry kefir smoothie with a titch of Stevia to ward off the sourness. -
Most of it was water weight though. I lost 1 solid lb from my efforts.
so 4lbs water and 1lb fat. Gonna hit the pool again tonight, tomorrow, Tues (yes even after grocery shopping, Adult lane swim is from 7-8 so I can make it) Weds, thurs and Fri. Take Sat off and go at it again.
Aquatic workouts give 3x the workout as land based. The resistance is 3 dimensional, but the buoyancy lessens the impact on your joints, and also allows your heart to pump more efficiently with less effort so it works more efficiently per beat because it's not working against gravity, so your muscles get more oxygen, more oxygen = more fat burnt.
Swimming and Aquafit also helps develop lean muscle, as opposed to bulk muscle you get from weight lifting. Lean muscle is the key to burning fat, and looking slim and sleek instead of like...Chyna from the WWE >.> (minus the girlpeen) -

Boy am I sore, 90mins in the pool last night! GO ME -
Funny thing, I'm tracking my calories and I really don't eat that much. I eat till I'm full. I'm not deliberately starving myself. I'm really honest to goodness full after a 200or so calorie meal!
I just need to work out more. I think after supper I'll run right to the gym, do some circuits, then hit the pool after that for an hour.
Right now, I'm plenty satisfied hunger wise on 1000-1200 calories a day, 1400 on a a Tuesday (when we eat out) -
tonight we're having this:
http://www.recipezaar.com/Baked-Sals...n-Breast-33843
With some brown thai jasmine rice
and a Feta-cheese-less greek salad. I HATE FETA. *and olive free too* -
BTW Noire: Here's the recipe for the roll ups, and YES it fits in your plan too
Serves 2
4 slices of turkey breast
4 Med Boston Lettuce leaves (I use Red leaf lettuce for more iron)
4 scallions
4 red bell pepper strips.
Cilantro Mayo:
3/4 cup reduced fat mayo
3/4 cup loosely packed cilantro leaves
1tbsp fresh lime juice
1tsp light soy sauce
1sm clove garlic
Wizz all this up in a blender/food processor and stuff in a container in your fridge.
Now on to the roll ups.
Spread some cilantro mayo on the lettuce leaf, then place one piece of turkey on it, add 1 scallion and 1 pepper strip. Fold into a tight cigar like roll.
Per Serving (2 rolls) 10g protein 2g carbs, 1g fat, 0 saturated, 604mg sodium, 17mg cholesterol, and 1g fiber. -
Well that's easy.
lol.
Breakfast Strawberry and Banana Smoothie, Lunch: South Beach Turkey/lettuce roll ups with Cilantro mayo. Supper, Balsalmic and Salsa chicken with BROWN Thai Jasmine rice. Not to mention my snacks of Froots n Veggies! Apples, and broccoli and carrots and Cauliflower!
