"'Fraid not." Jake stated clearly, knocking the Nemesis staff away with a force bolt and ordered his minions to unleash their full force on him. Shots of plasma, incindiary missiles, lasers, and proton grenades headed straight for Nemesis, and considering his already poor condition, it should do quite a bit of damage.
-
"Damn, man..." Jake muttered as the blast washed over him, seeming completely oblivious to his existance. "I've really gotta take up some of this arcane stuff sometime..." He smirked peeked around his Assault Bot, checking to see the damage before he decided to relax.
(My bad Devious. >.> -
"Again. Prob'ly not gonna happen." Jake said as he put the grenade in a detention field, rendering it all but useless. "And stop dodging my fire, you freak." He said, smirking. "It's very rude." He then fired a force bolt at the man, aiming to have him stop just short of falling off the building, and then following up with a tsunami of heated elements.
-----
Wirespike was relatively useless at this point. Sure, he had a few close combat weapons, but with the thirty second cool down and re-heat cycle he had to go through every time he shot his weapon, he was better off just hanging back and shooting from afar. After all, he designed this weapon for sniping. -
"Ah, crap..." Jake muttered as the Proton Volley loomed ever closer to him, not caring much for his desire to live. Doing what he did best in these situations, he threw up a Personal Forcefield and bore through it, trusting that his shield would hold up to the blast.
-
"Yeah... no..." Jake nonchalantly said as he threw up a shield on himself, refracting the shot's path to just breeze by his head. "Sorry, but a..." He stopped for a short moment, counting his fingers for emphasis, "Nine to one fight doesn't sit well for you." He smirked and ordered his minions to open fire on the man, telling them to give him deadly force.
-----
Wirespike casually threw up yet another shield on himself, again refracting the shot to the point where it missed him entirely. He then raised both his hands and muttered one small obscenity.
"You [censored]."
He then fired two streams of plasma at the man Soul called 'Pops' aiming to kill the man with two perfect holes in his head. -
Jake was at first confused by Penny's sudden departure, however, pieced much of it together when the exlosion happened, overwhelming some of his bots internal balancing systems and forcing them to crash to the floor, at least one of them on his arm.
Gritting his teeth to fight back the pain, Jake quickly put up a Personal Forcefield strength shield up around the individual bot maintaining the atmosphere in this room. If anything, that was the top priority. Otherwise, pretty much everyone in that room was utterly screwed.
After that, his minions having already recovered from their fall, he ordered them to continue their onslaught on the undefended Nemesis while he checked the damage to his arm. He winced as he realized his forearm was broken, making a mental note to ask for a sling as soon as the situation allowed. -
Jake simply smirked as Nemesis put up his barrier. "Oh no you don't, you don't seem to know I practically wrote the book on these suckers." Throwing his gloved hand up in the general direction of Nemesis, a green glow suddenly emitted from it, and at the same time, the opaqueness of Nemesis's shield seemed to fade more and more until it finally became nonexistant.
"I've canceled out his PFF, ((Pronounced Pee Eff Eff)) now's the time to attack!"
His bots, if they could've felt emotion, were obvious displeased with his blocking of their first onslaught, and intended to make up for it with a second wave... -
Jake hopped over from the adjacent building, his bots following suit and stopping about ten feet behind him. He smirked at the old man's comment about Soul Striker being dead, even going so far as to chuckle a bit. "Well well," he said, "Seems one of us is more skilled than the other, aye?" He enjoyed this small moment of victory, seeming almost insensitive to the reality of death.
Well, excluding what happened a few minutes ago...
He cleared his throat. "Anyway..." He started.

"But it doesn't have to end that way! I can convince the Masters to let you join them, all three of you! We can all be safe that way, you guys would do it right? Wirespike, I know you would, you used to work for Arachnos according to our database, surely you'd want to join the guys on winning side, right?"
[/ QUOTE ]
"Hell no!" Was the resounding response from both Wirespike and Jake alike, oddly enough coming at the same time. Taking but a moment to look at each other and exchange looks about it, Wirespike spoke first.
"Years ago, when the Masters first took over, they offered positions of power to all of the Chosen Ones, offering them lavish riches, power over the masses, and unimagineable privilege. Many agreed, of course, but my mind was still altered to a state of loyalty to Arachnos. So I gave them resounding '[censored] no!', flipped them the bird, and escaped before I was executed. To go back now would be suicide."
He finished, letting the information sink in for a second or two before continuing.
"By the way, how'd you figure out my identity? I created the alias Wirespike specifically to keep my name hidden."
-----
At this, Jake released a sigh of relief. "Thank God, he didn't create the name voluntarily..." -
Jake had basically been doing what he was good at up until the WarHorse had decided to throw a little radioactivity their way, which, Jake, being a biological lifeform and all, wasn't all that thrilled with.
Damn! He thought, immediately getting his bots to drop what they were doing immediately and get in front of him in a semi circle formation, with his Assault Bot directly in front of him, his Proctector Bots to his sides, and his Battle Drones filling the gaps.
He breathed a sigh of relief as he emerged relatively unharmed from the radiation blast, observing the damage to his minions in the upperhand corner of his goggle's UI. He grumbled as he dismissed all three fo his destroyed Battle Drones and replaced them with brand new ones, seeming only slightly peeved that he had to resummon at all.
Finding that he himself was relatively OK, he decided to check on Penny, opening up a comm link and just about to speak when Ineffable pulled out a device and triggered what was obviously a bomb. Penny received a rather loud obscenity rather than a concerned question. Jake threw up his Personal Forcefield and squeezed his eyes shut, waiting for the inevitable.
The inevitable didn't come.
Instead, a newcomer seemed to have teleported the object away, giving Jake free reign to put down his ultimate defense and relax for a small moment.
Read miniscule.
It was then that his attention was turned to the room in which Lady Grey resided which revealed an automaton Dark Watcher and the Arch-king of Automatons himself.
"Oh you're kidding me..." He muttered.
"Penny!" He shouted into his comm link, "Go for Nemesis, these readings I'm getting are telling me that either Nemesis can alter my goggles at will, or this is the real thing. We may not get another chance like this."
With that, his minions opened fire like a dam bursting, releasing a tidal wave of plasma, lasers, grenades and explosions, if nothing else, dazing the Brass King. -
"I'd suggest you take the gun away from the kid." Wirespike said, phasing into the visual spectrum right behind the assailant with his arm outstretched, the exit barrel for the plasma not two inches from the man's head. "Otherwise, well, things may get..." He chuckled. "Messy."
-----------
Jake stood atop an adjacent building, his bots already fully summoned and taking their aim at what he identified as a hostile. He realized that what he was doing was most probably unnecessary, but you had to be prepared for every scenario. -
((Eh... Que? How do I respond to that? >.>
)
-
"Right..." He muttereed, ordering his minions to immediately start focusing fire on the hottest point on the thing, AKA, the spot that was burning white hot.
Damn. She's right. He thought as he positioned himself at a similar angle. He sighed. "Oh well, more for the slaughter." He smirked nad pulled out a few more devices identical to the one he had tossed to Penny. -
Jake's bots, naturally, followed suit, taking up their position in the line and constantly shooting lasers and hot plasma at the horse.
This isn't working. This thing can take physical damage like nobody's business. What we need to do is to deactivate the thing.
"Penny!" He suddenly shouted, hoping that it could miraculously rise above the cacophony. "We can't beat this by physical means! Take this!" With that, he tossed a small device, not dissimilar in appearance to the devices he used to teleport in his 'bots.
This served a much different purpose however. This device was completely magnetic, allowing it to stick to the horse without much trouble. Now that alone wouldn't do much, but this was designed to release a fairly large amount of electricity upon being attached.
"It'll hopefully short the thing! Hurry!" He shouted as he pumped out forcefields onto people, hoping they'd realize how they should adjust their aim for the alteration in trajectory. -
Jake's face took on a fusion of supressed anger and forced dignity as he heard Soul's response, crossing his arms and making a quarter turn to the right. "Yeah... well..." He started to say, trailing off.

Soul Striker looked around at the unconcious or dead mayhem bodies, and said now, with a hint of urgency, "Look, is it a good idea for us to hang around here much longer? Mayhem soldiers could come back at any minute if those guys who ambushed you reported their location before attacking."
[/ QUOTE ]
"Um... yeah! Sounds good. That's probably the case, so we should get moving." Jake quickly unsummoned his minions and impatiently waited for his comrades to hurry up.
------------
Wirespike chuckled at duel of words between himself and Soul Striker, reducing it to a smirk when he saw Jake was genuinely insulted. "Anyway, we should probably-" He was cut off by Soul Striker stating his idea first, pointing out the obvious with brilliant observation. "Yeah, pretty much what he said." He finished, folding his arms across his chest and looking to Soul Striker to indicate that he was ready. -

Don't answer Grey! For the love of all that is holy, don't answer! -
"Well, as you so tactly put it," Jake said, adjusting his goggles with his right hand. "I spent months working on these, and I'm fairly certain Bane spiders don't have something like this."
"And that stealth may conceal your location visually" Wirespike added, "But armor isn't exactly the most silent thing you could wear. I heard you as soon as you took that first step."
Jake smirked. "Anyway, were you tailing me? I don't really see how else you could've come so quickly." -
Jake's goggles allowed him to see through Soul's stealth quite easily, making him feel a little more comfortable about his current situation. And with comfort comes a level head.
Jake was quickly recovering from his near-death scare, gaining his wits back quite speedily. Calming himself down and slowing his breathing rate, he took his first analytical look at the man. His power armor was something that he himself had been pondering about. Its weaponry used the same tech as his Assault Bot, in that it took in air, super heated it, and shot out plasma, however, this suit managed to shoot it in a beam rather than just a blast.
Next was the man's face, which was completely exposed due to his lack of a helmet. His hair was a dark brown, nearly a black, and he had allowed it to grow rather long, but most notable was what he was wearing over his eyes.
A single pair of blast goggles.
Jake was bright enough to piece together what was going on and who this man was. Taking a deep final breath, he slowly let the air out of his lungs and chuckled, pushing himself up and ordering the bots to cease their fire.
"I get it." He said, giving Soul a subtle sign to stop his advance. "I know who you are. What I don't get is why you're following me. Wouldn't our meeting create a sort of time paradox?"
"You'd think that, wouldn't you?" Wirespike replied, smirking and adjusting his arms' positions. "But if I hadn't stepped in, you wouldn't be here, and that's a paradox in and of itself. So, it's sort of a no brainer as to which paradox you'd prefer."
Jake chuckled. "Suppose so..."
"Oh, one more thing..." Wirespike added. "Tell your friend to turn off his stealth and count me as a friendly, kay?" -
"Right." He muttered, tossing his devices on the ground and porting six battle ready robots into the room. He heard some groans from people who had been pushed back by the summon. Chuckling, he gave an in-sincere 'Sorry.' And proceded to put forcefields around them.
"Hey, Penny, can your bots account for the trajectory alteration my forcefields will give them? Otherwise, they'll be protected, but utterly useless." -
((Last posted edited for completion. ^_^))
-
"Always, Penny." Jake replied, smirking and pulling out several of his teleporting devices, getting ready to activate them at a moment's notice. "Do we have a clear image of it, yet?"
Jake, for obvious reasons, wasn't exactly at the front of the group, let alone had taken a peek around the corner. All he knew of the situation was what Ineffable had said and Penny's warning. -
"Ah, damn..." He muttered, quickly throwing up a personal forcefield around himself. He had to sit down, his head was throbbing and he felt just a tad dizzy, however, he realized that immobilization meant death.
Jake had but a few moments to recover before a barrage of mace blasts shorted out his forcefield and left him out in the open. Obviously, he wasn't going to sit around to get blasted, so, smirking, he gave a vocal command to focus fire on the higher ranked soldier.
Nothing happened.
Jake bit his lip as he rolled out of the way at the last second and spared a glance at his minions, seeing that all of them were encased in detention fields.
Dammit! Guess they finally implemented my forcefield tech. Crap. I'm screwed.
The soldiers had him surrounded now, there wasn't a place he could run to, and he certainly couldn't fight, not with the pain in his head getting worse every second. The only thing he could possibly do was surrender himself.
But he knew how that would turn out. That first guy was aiming to kill, there was no way these guys were under seperate orders.
He figuratively pulled out his hair and came to a realization.
I'm going to die here...
---------------------
Roughly twenty five yards to the west and five stories above this conflict crouched a man in his late, late twenties. Perhaps his early thirties, although he appeared to be slightly older than that. Dressed in a black power suit, it was obvious he hadn't been simply taking a stroll when he came across this little skirmish. Indeed, he had actually been trailing Jake for quite some time.
He had watched the fight with intrigue, applauding intelligent manuevers by Jake and scorning those made by the Mayhem soldiers until, at last, Jake was in a fatal position.
Time to step in, I suppose... He thought, lifting his arm and firing a stream of plasma at the upper ranked soldier's head, piercing the armor and pretty much incinerating the inside of his skull.
Within a matter of thirty seconds, most of the other soldiers had suffered the same fate, only two of them even realizing what was going on before being taken down.
((Gah! I'm not done! Nuuu!
>.> Actually, I'm being forced off right now. Other part of the post to come later.))
Edit: The man hopped down, slightly peeved that his presence was forced to have been revealed, while Jake was both relieved and cautious.
Well, perhaps cautious isn't the right word...
"Stay the Hell away!" He shouted as loud as he possibly could, using his bots' new-found freedom to his advantage and quickly ordering them all to take aim at the newcomer.
The man wasn't phased, continuing to walk forward, and even when Jake opened fire, he continued to walk, the clearing smoke revealing a shimmering bubble around him.
"W-... Who the Hell are you?" Jake asked, still shaken from his near death experience.
"Well, most people call me Wirespike, but you can call me Jake..." -
((>.> That was my narration. How'd Penny hear me? <.<
)
Jake literally smacked himself in the forehead with his open palm when he heard Penny's first comment. "Oh come on!" He said in a loud whisper, however, still managing to only have Penny hear it. "How freakin' transparent am I?" He sighed as he listened to her threat to interrupt his plans and waved it off, adding in a 'Yeah, yeah...' in a disregarding tone.
"Don't worry about me, alright? Whatever I've gotten myself into by accepting this mission, I can handle it. You've seen yourself just how resourceful I can be when I want to."

Still watching to make sure no one was listening, she leaned her head in close to him, and whispered, "Can you even summon your bots here, when we are a zillion miles from home and the only nearby extra dimensional portal is... shall we say, wonky?"
[/ QUOTE ]
"Huh? Oh!" He said, his eyes lighting up at the change in subject. "Yeah, I changed my method of teleporting just last week. See, I visited a friend of mine, Technician Naylor, you've heard of him, right? Anyway, he and I figured out a way to get those CoT ((He pronounced it See Oh Tee)) portals to not only reduce in size so that they can be crammed into one of these things," He said, pulling out one of his teleporting devices, "But also to get them to popup almost anywhere, and with other side of the portal recently being installed in my bots, it'll allow for teleportation anywhere, even across dimensions." He grinned at what he thought was a genius solution. The portals didn't even require a power source, and even though arcane wasn't his forte, even he understood their mechanics. -
Jake had just re-entered a crouching run as the Mayhem soldier's body slammed into his, throwing his face, among other things, into the asphalt. Despite being completely dazed and ignoring a throbbing pain in his head, Jake managed to use the soldier's momentum to throw him off, in the process only barely dodging the next soldier's mace.
Jake was not what you'd call a fighter. Aside from a Green belt he had earned in Tae Kwon Doe when he was eleven, there was absolutely nothing he could do in a fight.
Which was why he was classified as a mastermind.
Whilst still rolling across the ground, Jake let all six of his teleporting devices roll out as well as switching to a thermal vision mode, letting loose the full force of his squad, the Battle Drones spewing out hundreds of lasers per second into the both of them, the Protector Bots throwing Proton Grenades at them at an alarming rate, and the Assault Bot sending hot plasma at the both of them.
To put it frankly, unless the soldiers had some incredible armor, they'd be dead within a few seconds. -

((O.o Buh?)) -
"Fine by me..." Jake half-muttered as he heard Grey volunteer himself to go ahead. It really didn't matter to him much whether the tank or the stalker went first. Truly, it didn't concern him. He was more preoccupied with his mission from Arachnos and the matter of getting some alone time to listen to it.
He took note of Ineffable and Grey's little debate and chuckled at the disagreements between the two. He could definately figure out a few ways to take advantage of the tension between the two, and most likely would, however, now wasn't the time. Now was the time to blindly follow the leader, simply waiting for the perfect oppurtunity to slip away...
