  1. I have manually transferred the files to be sure, yes. As far as City of Heroes is concerned, all aspects of it are being run as Administrator.
  2. I sincerely hope that this is a known issue and only happened because of I15.

Earlier today I backed up all my custom content that I used in the Mission Architect. I uninstalled City of Heroes from my Toshiba Satellite Laptop that runs Vista, and re-installed CoH onto the secondary drive that my computer has. Everything except my custom MA stuff works, when I go into the AE Editor, my custom groups, characters, and locally saved missions do not show up. I've checked the part of the CoH file they're usually in, all my custom content is there. There's something keeping City of Heroes from being recognized through Mission Architect, anyone have any idea what that might be, and how to fix it?
  3. I love this idea, I had to copy-paste all the text from the contact when I ran an with my SG.
  4. The more I think about it, and speak with other people about it, the more I think... "The only reason these MA farms are more popular than standard PI farms, is the fact that you don't need mentors."

Other people have said the MA recieved a cutback in XP gain, and the xp is no longer as decent as regular gameplay or PI farms.

No. I don't farm, but the existence of the farming missions doesn't bother me. In fact, I don't currently have any arc slots occupied. I create personalized arcs for my characters, and publish and unpublish them as desired.

[/ QUOTE ]What about those who do not create personalized arcs for thier own characters, but rather, create arcs that are personalized by utilizing what the creator puts into them? I'm sure lots of people put hard work into thier story arcs, one of my arcs took a full month to get down before I chose to publish it. There are similar cases with other people, too.

Or take away the power the votes currently have, and make them only for honest opinion, not something you need for badges.

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, that would fix it, and I'm sure very few people would complain with that sort of fix.

I recommend continuing this discussion in the "Official Farming Discussion Thread" Located in the City Life OR in one of the Posi Letter threads located in the Developer's Corner section of the board as Mod8 is soon to come along soon and lock this one.

[/ QUOTE ]Ah, but this is a discussion/questions thread.

Taking this to the farming thread would no doubt start a flame war, and I can put money on that.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
How important is all the "wordy" stuff to you?

[/ QUOTE ]I read it all, descriptions on characters, clues, mission send off, and still busy dialogue, anything with dialogue. I even incorporated those ideals into my own story arcs, adding a new swing on it, and even putting in easter eggs into the missions.
  9. I'd like to see the Terra Volta map, I love that one.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
The issue is really having 90K people all posting their crappy missions. Thats why things are getting buried.

[/ QUOTE ]Why don't you compile a list of missions that you think are crappy and are not farms, and post them here? It's more constructive for you anyways. I'm sure it would better help you weed out the so-called "junk" in MA anyways.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Hos do Frams not have stories? or how is your story better. Mission giver sez a bunch of crap and thats the story. Every thing else is just killing everything that moves.

[/ QUOTE ]No one is saying my stories are better, I made it perfectly clear that this thread is not about me whining about my own stories. It's about everyone's stories which are rung out, and go unnoticed because of the heavy interest in the farms.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
I was not addressing that because it's clearly unrelated to the core idea.

'We'll solve X farming by renaming it Y' doesn't actually solve anything.

[/ QUOTE ]I'm trying to come up with workaround to this, you can't solve farming by leaving it alone, anyways.

If it won't solve anything, then do you have a solution? We'd like to hear some constructive feedback on this whole idea.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Saying 'if you're interested in story, then who needs XP' is a bit silly; if ALL I wanted was a story? I'd be off reading, not peeking at highly limited microprose.

[/ QUOTE ]Oh but that's not what I was saying at all, I even worked with another friend in-game, and came up with that idea of the tickets for xp. It's in one of the previous posts.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Instead your story arc will be unplayed because no one wants to run through an arc without rewards. You're lucky if you can get a non SG member to help you with Test mode for an arc.

[/ QUOTE ]I believe I covered this part in another post, please read through some of the other posts.

As for revenge voting, nothing is stopping that currently, either. The outlook is nigh currently if you're hoping to stop people from vote griefing.
  15. However, both my friends and myself recall seeing a guy trying his hardest over broadcast to find an 8 man team to help test his mission arc. It was really upsetting to watch as he fruitlessly tried, to no avail.

I'd imagine he could not get a team going for a few reasons, his friends probably were not on at the time, he's not in an SG or not in one with 8 currently on, and the resounding... Everyone is more interested in farming MA than playing user-created stories.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I understand your desire to improve the situation but I just don't think it's the change the system needs. What needs to happen is some categorization, new MA channels for the team spam and for something new to come out to get the new car scent out of the MA so it can find it's actual equilibrium in terms of use vs abuse so the gm team can do their job on regulating content.

[/ QUOTE ]I agree with this statement here, in fact, it's a better solution than that recent idea to create an MA that's solely to hold all farms. Just simply adding a button that can filter farms out of your search, but then that means people must flag thier own missions as farms (or the devs could do it) I imagine that the devs are already having a hard time with the farm filtering they have to keep up with, and you don't actually beleive someone would willingly flag thier mission farms as a farm? It's not likely to happen that way if left in the hands of the people's farms.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
People farm inf and prestige too. It is directly linked to the farming issue....just as much as tickets - which you don't bring up...

[/ QUOTE ]I did make a statement about the tickets in a post after that one, please take some time to read and consider it.

On the farming note... Why can't we have one MA that filters the farms out of all the other ones... Say the MA in Galaxy City (or one in PI) could be the regulator that filters the farms to it. In other words, if you want farming, you go to the Farming MA. However, the farming MA would still need to be regulated in order to prevent these huge exploitative god-farms we've been seeing.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I can guarantee you that if xp and rewards were removed many people would not play a player created mission, period.

I find it pointless to complain about your arcs not being played when you neglect to advertise your arc in your sig. Take advantage of what advertising you can, for free even, before complaining that the system isn't working.

    [/ QUOTE ]This is somewhat about my arcs, it's true. However, I am speaking on a scale of everyone. Not everyone uses these forums as regularily as you might, some don't even use them at all. A good friend has told me;

"The people who seem to get the most views on their stories are ones who've generated a lot of discussion, and/or have a large sg to help start."

I agree with what my good friend said.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Thats the crux of your bad attitude. No one wants to play your little mission.

[/ QUOTE ]This thread is for constructive feedback, we want to include you in our discussion.
  20. For all of you wondering, "But Mighty, what about the xp?" I believe I have a *somewhat* practical solution to that.

I recommend the Ticket system be utilized for XP gain, that's right. You would be earning your tickets to get xp as well, via the rewards NPCs in MA.

For example, 9k tickets would award you whatever the Dev's datamining determins is the time equivalant.

This would undoubtedly raise the question "Mighty, that will definetely kill xp farms, but won't it start TICKET farms?"

The answer is a resounding yes, if not done properly by the devs. They must be careful of how much to award with the tickets, and look closely at the datamined time equivalants.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
but why totally gimp MA because of some bad apples?

[/ QUOTE ]Positron even said that he disliked the idea of farming in MA, he stated that "MA was designed for users to create and share thier story ideas."

I hear what you're saying, I'd love them to fix the exploits and bugs as well. But that will come without saying, they'll get the bugs and exploits out, but the farming is the most immediate problem.
  22. Somehow, that still isn't stopping these people from getting to level 50 in under a day. Something is still not right with these farms, and to be honest, I don't care wether or not I get support for this.

It's a pathetic (or halfway decent) attempt at getting a developer to read this thread and say, "Hmm... Maybe that's a good idea."

Because it's so terrible that my arcs, and everyone else's are hidden under all the crappy farms. Like diamonds hidden under all the drab outer rocks.
  23. There's no greater feeling in this game, than legitimately earning level 50 via soloing your entire career. I could have joined a team for that, but I soloed my main to 50.

This MA farming thing is ridiculous, as I am sure a majority of you know. Atlas hasn't been the same ever since(joke)

My proposal is that you, the devs, remove experience gain from all missions EXCEPT Hall of Fame missions, and Dev's Choice. This will no doubt alleviate all the farming down with one foul swoop. I'm sure sifting through Hall of Fame missions for farms is a heck of a lot easier than sifting through ALL missions, anyways.

I want to be clear, this proposal of mine does NOT include infamy/influence, and prestige. In other words, all published missions would still be able to reward influence/infamy, and prestige if you're in SG mode. Just not experience points.

...And let's face it, for all of you out there that feel the same way as I do about these farms. Doesn't it suck to have all your mission arcs you worked hard on buried under all those farm missions?

    Arc Reviews

Hey, Venture. I've looked at a lot of ways the people have been reviewing Architect Missions, and I think your way would be the best for what I would like. I would like a fair and honest critique of my first Mission Arc.

    C-Virus Outbreak

    @Mighty Pencil
    Arc ID: 52269
    Length: Very Long
    Morality: Heroic
Mission 1: Unique map, level range 1-54. Contains Boss, Collection, A Destructible Object.
Mission 2: Large Size Map, level range 45-54. Contains Boss, Release Captive.
Mission 3: Unique map, level range 1-54. Contains Boss, Collection.
Mission 4: Unique map, level range 20-30. Contains Boss, A Destructible Object, Patrol, Release Captive.
Enemy Groups: Family, Custom Group, Slag Golems
Description: A mysterious outbreak has begun spreading in Paragon City, being the ever-vigilant types you are, you can't help but investigate this outbreak.

The mission is purely for comic value, the goal is to have fun and get a few laughs out of the experience. It is four missions long. I'd like a review so I can know how to make this arc better.

    Vehicles?

You can strafe on a hoverboard too.

In my opinion, if it pleases the court, a hoverboard is a VERY logical alt costume for Super Speed. You can get across water on it, it's pretty much all-terrain in all the sci-fi stuff. If you devs do anything, it should be a hoverboard.
