I have a couple of empty character slots on every server, we need someone to setup a global channel for the Refs, and need to pick a name for the arena Referees. Should we start a new thread for it?
-
That would be kinda cool. Form an SG/VG sorta like the Taxibots and sit around in Pocket D answering questions about the Arenas. Make the SG outfit look like a referee's uniform. That'll give the PvP community a good rep with the rest of the Co* community if we keep it civil and friendly.
-
Frosty made a good point. There has always been this circular argument going all over the PvP boards about why Co* PvP is the way it is.

<Quick Reply>
What this sounds like is:
"Fix Fury for all the other ATs I don't play, and keep it broken for mine. I don't want it to change."
Whether or not you mean differently, when 8 out of 8 people say they aren't getting the meaning... you're aren't expressing it correctly. -
Last time I checked.. Claws/* were a threat to:
Dominators
Stalkers
Corruptors
Non-BG'ed Masterminds
Non-Stone/Invuln Brutes
So..... you are upset that you aren't a major "OMGRUN" threat to 1 AT and some Brute powersets?
Here is a drawing for you:

I've had a Claws/Regen scrapper, but didn't have the patience to get it to 40. Focus ftw?

In this case IMHO, it would be the bug fixes to Arena and Base raids/Iops/Iop trial.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I agree. Get them working first, then we can talk balance. -
I'd like to see them fix stuff and add new stuff, in equal parts. And I when I mean stuff, I mean the stuff they advertised -- ignoring the PvP and PvE party lines. Arenas, PPPs, Mayhem/Safeguard, etc.
-
ED was put in place for the future potential of Inventions. They probably have some ideas for balance in the next 6 months, we just get dead silence about what they are going to do about it.
-
I don't think the Arena terminals are there just for decoration.
OOPS, There = Pocket D -
Well.. 2 things of late:
Domination builds faster and gets a buff based on teammates.. not exactly a generally desired buff.. but a change without making numbers lower or less effective
Brutes -- okay.. not getting my hopes up -- _Castle_ at one point said paraphrased, we might have an answer, give us at least 2 weeks about Fury being busted in PvP.
Two positive things for Villains. I think they are to the point where they are at their lowest. Inventions has the potential to be a buff (unbalancing, definitely) but once again, not a decrease in numbers nor a diminishing on a self-effecting basis. -
RREEEAAAAR - Arena Fix Good FIRE BAAAD!!
Seriously, you can't base camp in the Arena.. Problem solved there.Definitely priority #1 should be Arena.. 'specially since the shiney new ones in Pocket D have been added.
-
Near the end of the event, it ended up with 30 heroes camping 5 villains in the base. I'm sure that had alot to do with souring the RV experience for Live... So did the pillbox swapping and folks getting virtiolic when hunting their badges. This is in addition, mind you, to the HvV imbalances, the exploits, base camping, droning, and all the other little flaws that aren't going to be approached by Crptic in time.. but according to Lighthouse, definitely not SOON(tm).
-
There ya go, drawing your own conclusions again. Kettle, this is pot, over. What we're arguing about here is people's opinions as to why they flooded RV, and you seem to think you are completely in tune with all 6k of their opinions.. which is "they attended the event because of a free 40 and didn't give a [censored] about the PvP."
-
I put in a suggestion on that section about cross-server PvP zones... hopefully they'll read it. For balancing out with PvE so they don't feel left out, I say cross-over Pocket D, Shadow Shard, and maybe a lowbie zone, too. I can't remember the song or group (Soul Asylum?) "Nothing draws a crowd - Like a crowd." You mush the servers together on certain connection points, you will have some extremely popular zones... PvP benefitting the most, for sure, but all-in-all -- everyone wins.
-
Solo, sure. I can see that.
Teamed, whole 'nother kettle of fish. -
I'm sorry, I should have specified names... It wasn't directly at you, Darq, it was a quick reply.
Test doesn't have high pop PvP zones because Test doesn't have high pop PvP zones. Folks don't go because other folks don't go. If there isn't anyone to fight, no one will stay and wait. When you get 15 zones worth of people, folks will want to fill that zone to get even more because there is (finally) opponents there... PvP zones are one of the cases where you *have* to have people in them, the inverse of the regular zones.
I think it is exactly why there were 30 RVs and not so much that folks 'got free 40s and free enhancements.' Although, it was a good chance for Alt'ers to see what a 40 is like, they would have at least *tried* to leave the zone if they abhorred PvP that much. Not a lot tried, though. -

Going down that road would PVPers maybe prefer that everyone have a limited number of inspiration slots, say one or two rows?
[/ QUOTE ] That won't do anything.. folks will just zone out more often to pickup more breakfrees. Maybe the inspirations you buy outside of the zone can't be used inside the zone, so you would have to cash in bounty or have the vendor charge prestige/10x infamy-influence to use the in-zone ones. -
There were 30 instances of RV, 3 instances of GV. 1/10th of the players left the PvP zone to look at their level 40 build in PvE.
*shrug* I really don't think this is going to convince you because you already have your bigotry in place, but I'm stating the obvious here. You'll only hear what you want to hear and draw only conclusions that you want to believe. -

I don't think the events attendance was in anyway a measure of the player audiences demand for PvP..
[/ QUOTE ]
The term is 'in any way, shape, or form' in which you have summarily shot yourself in the foot. You're in fact saying, that because a new PvP zone came out and that there were 30 instances of it, it was by no stretch of the imagination an indicator of the folks that were interested in PvP. This is like walking into a meth lab and saying that they don't make drugs here.
200 players per instance, 30 instances, 15$ a month, 2 years = $2,160,000.00. Unless that is your monthly salary, I think a little more than a few hours a week can justify that 'asset' to alot of people. -
We have more to complain about than badgers do. We also have to come up wtih 100% more workarounds than badgers do.
Freedom also has less than 40% of the amount of posts the PvP forums have. -
Folks have started Bug lists here, then they peter out because:
A) Some tool comes in and starts arguing that the devs shouldn't "waste their time on them"
B) Some other tool comes in and starts quoteblocking and counterpointing each person's suggestion and saying how stupid it is
C) Another tool starts blabbing.
D) --Rarely-- Dev comes in and says "Everything is fine, have a look at this shiney new badge" -
[ QUOTE ]
People will not quit the game because they didn't get that pair of gloves or that one extra badge they wanted added to the game. People will quit the game if the PvP problems are ignored by the devs.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT and entire SGs have left the game.. it wasn't over gloves. -
"I won't win 100% of the time, so nerf X before they make it fair"
-
[ QUOTE ]
Let's try and focus the discussion on things we can do under the current systems?
[/ QUOTE ]
Then there isn't anything to discuss. You can talk tactics all you want, but the Arena will still stay broken, imbalances will still exist, the Carebear community will still come to the PvP forums and [censored] in our backyard, and nothing will be done about it. We've gone over this [censored] a thousand times, what little is left of the PvP community can't do dick for the game anymore.
