Quote:My quibble is not with you. One or two missions, while not my preference, is your right. And, Yes we all have the right to level our toons as we see fit. What I have noticed is that there are many [IMHO] people in AE who are only in AE because they have no comprehension of the amount of content that is out there that is not boss farming. They know nothing of Steel Canyon, Talos, Founder's Falls. The Rikti War Zone is "What?". If you want to sit in AE and play mindless NPC bosses for hours and hours and never leave, that is your choice and all my discontent will do nothing, but the Dev's [IMHO] need to make sure that there is more to the game than that.No one said farming is fun. Efficient farming is like a chore. Tedious, boring, and repetitive. And that's the cost you pay for maximizing your rewards. That's why I don't do more than two runs per day, if I decide to farm for a day.
I like AE. I enjoy making my own arcs. I can't stand being in AE because the number of cronic-abusers outweighs people who are playing it for enjoyment. All I ask is that they find a new home, someplace other than Atlas Park.
My point about the sewers seems to have been lost so I will take this opportunity to attempt to bow out gracefully. All the finger pointing in the world between the AE supporters and AE haters won't change the fact that this is a game and we are all paying to have fun. We have multiple alts and many chances to explore it all. I just would hate for people to leave the game because they don't know that there is more to CoX than AE. Not as a matter of choice, but just because they don't know it even exists. -
Quote:If you had to choose today to change only one: AE or The Sewers, so that it can be enjoyed in a more responsible manner, which would you choose? That is the point of sewer teams. Fast leveling and easy rewards.
I'd be delusional if I thought we could stop the farming entirely. If they are driven enough, they will find some way and be joyous in exploiting the system. This is nothing new and it is evidenced not only in online games, but in everyday life.
The Sewers are not without their faults, but it has graces as well. I find The Sewers a far lesser evil than the AE farming that goes on. There is even a taskforce exclusively for the Sewers!
You don't get salvage in the lowbie Sewers. You do speed through the first 6-7 levels, but then you and you team get bored, die, or have other things to do, and leave to catch a real team in King's Row, usually to get a Raptor Pack. And you don't get tickets to buy recipies or salvage or enhancements without having to spend precious influence.
While I am sorry to offend, I still stand by my statement. I personally would far rather endorse The Sewers than AE. -
I think it would make sense to take AE out of Atlas, Galaxy and Kings. The first AE building should be in Skyway and Steel. Then, move the Skyway and Steel AE's to the far side of the zone by the green line train. Also, put a lvl 20 minimum floor on the participants. If you want to make an AE mission for anything lower, you can be Auto Exemplared like they do with Ouro missions.
Part of the AE problem is that people brand new to the game are getting bombared with invitaions to AE farm teams the second they land in Atlas. Seasoned players can divert to Galaxy City, but people who don't know land there and immediately get drawn in by fast leveling and easy ticket rewards. If you remove the AE option from those 3 zones, players brand new to the CoH experience will go back to Sewer Teams and Missions. Then, we would at least have the chance of helping new members. People who are accustomed to AE would have no choice but travel across the zones to get there. If you impose a lvl 20 minimum floor to participants, they will have no choice but to level the old fashioned way.
You could also put AE in its own zone, sort of like Pocket D. Zoning in would put you in the ground floor lobby, the 4 door options being Atlas, Galaxy, Kings, and Steel and the Top floor doors being replaced with just windows looking out into a Pocket D or Firebase Zulu Area. But put the entry level restrictions on it. That way, it is still welcoming but only if you earn the right to be there. That would also limit the number of people allowed in. Once 2 zones are "Full", then you just have to wait for an opening. Or have a "locked" zone, that you can only access if you earn a key, purchased with Reward Merits [[ The ones you get at the end of a Task Force ]].
Less likely but my favorite option would be to delete AE from all zones except one. Something like a new PI equivilant, with lvl 40+ mobs in the streets. No amenities, just the stuff AE already comes with [[ Inspirations, Hospital, and Store ]]. Put it in a zone all by itself so that farmers can spam and yell and generally be their obnoxious selves without ruining the game for the rest of us.
Regardless, AE should be a privledge of playing the game. -
Argh.I forgot about that.... But I also thought it was restricted to teleport, not Mission Transporter. I have done it successfully from there before.

Kudos to fixing the Mission Transporter icon/graphic. Only problem is that I tried to use the power [[ Going from Pocket D to Striga Isle, blueside. ]] and it failed. Not the normal, "Power Interrupted" fail, but total fail to the extent that it credited me as using the power and had to recharge, but I will still in Pocket D. Help?

*bump*
Thankfully, I haven't had any issues playing the glitched toon. It is kinda sad to say, I really don't want any of the stuff that came with the reward on that toon, just the badges. If it had been on any of my other toons, it probably would have been tempting, but I like her just as is. She needs to get to 50 and I need to start saving for enhancers, but otherwise, she is just about perfect. -
Hee hee. Thank you. That is far more detailed than my e-mail was so maybe I am just the last to know. *hugs*
And it is tempting to keep the presents. Wish I could have glitched all my toons! -
I have plenty of Alts. I have become a regular Alt-a-holic. I have found I am also a Badge-a-holic and Level-a-holic. The issue is that I just did a respec on that toon ( a tanker ) and I was hoping to get some by-proxy stress relief. I have her copied to the test server, but I can't copy my progress from the test back to regular play. I have another friend who has a toon close to her level and we were going to have weekly mission-dates until we both hit 50. This kinda kills that plan.
I am patient and I understand this is probably far more complicated than I am making it but between I14, I15, and Going Rogue, I really think this is taking a back burner. :sigh:
I am almost sorry to say that I am glad I am not alone anymore. I don't know anyone else who was effected by this and while I am sorry we are all SOL, I am glad I have people to grief with. -
I logged in to one character on my account (my very first toon) and she was awarded Vetrans Rewards for the next two years. I am a new player and haven't earned my 6th Month Badge yet, officially.
I already have a support ticket submitted but the notice that came out about 2/3 weeks ago said I shouldn't play my character until the glitch is fixed. I know you are working on it (and I want to thank the Dev's for all the awesome work!) But can I please play my toon in the meantime?
Also, how many other people are out there? Until they fix this, maybe we can compare notes and help them figure out what went wrong.
