  1. Rogue Isles Hamidon Raid in the Abyss.

Saturday, January 15th, 3 PM Pacific (4 PM Mountain, 5 PM Central, 6 PM Eastern).

kidengineer will be leading the raid/coordinating the teams.

    A few points to remember:
    * The Abyss is restricted to level 45+ Vigilantes, Villains, and Rogues.
    * Warburg Biological Mutagen warheads/nukes greatly help. If you can, please acquire one for the raid.
    * A small supply of Essence of the Earth (known as EoE) inspirations is useful (but not absolutely necessary).
    * The raid team leaders will use the Request channel to coordinate the teams. Please monitor the channel for instructions, but do not use it unless you are one of the raid team leaders
    * It will hold 50 Vigilantes, Villains, and Rogues. If the Abyss fills up, do not leave the zone, there is no guarantee you'll get back into that instance.
    * There is a medical bay in the Abyss if you should fall in combat and a rez/awaken is not immediately available.
    * The Hamidon will spawn (bloom) 3 sets of Mitos at (75%, 50%, and 25%), in addition to the mitos that initially spawn with him.
    * After Hamidon is defeated you will have the option of selecting 53 Reward Merits or a random Hamidon Origin Enhancement if you are level 47+, or 4 Incarnate Shards if you have the Alpha Slot unlocked.
  2. Once again Hamidon popped up just to get beat down in under an hour!

Thanks and congratulations to everyone who came out and made this coordinated, multi-team effort possible and successful.

Sadly, his fall is not yet complete...

He is well on his way down the path... to the darkside.
  8. Paragon City Hamidon Raid, in the Hive.

  9. *checks watch*

    *taps foot impatiently*
  10. Hamidon spawned a little earlier than we would have liked, so we didn't get as many EoEs as we would have preferred. But after a little EoE sharing and we re-introduced him to a little thing we like to call a Protector-style-smackdown.

Congratulations! Way to start off the new year!

If you can, please acquire Biological Mutagen warhead/nuke from Warburg prior to the raid. They help tremendously.

We may attempt a completely evac-less raid, depending on attendance.

Bamboozled. Blindsided. Cheated. Conned. Deceived. Defrauded. Deluded. Hoodwinked. Misled. Outsmarted. Swindled.
  14. Hunter has the power to heal her wound, but he won't be able to, because he inhaled toxin from the woman he would try to save.

    A circularly tragic situation.

Good thing Junk and Spider are there.
  15. I think you forgot to close the tag... </rp>
  16. I compare this story to that of Anakin Skywalker. However, instead of the rapid transition from hero to villain that we were unmercifully exposed to, this one is far more gradual. And in my opinion, all that much better for it.

Ruadh doesn't suddenly decide to be evil: he is enticed (by Sadb/Na'rul's persona), seduced (by Ciara's magic), traumatized (beaten by the devils), and then emotionally traumatized (seeing Sadb's brutalized form). But all that doesn't break him; it moves him to the tipping point and sets up the fall. Finally, just as he is looking over the precipice, and he turns his back on the brink (he was ready to accept the judgement of his peers), a final act (the destruction of the momento) causes him to choose to jump off the cliff with defiance.

But even this doesn't make him fully villainous... it only frees him of his responsibilities and allows him to follow his heart as a vigilante motivated by an untrue fabricated event and driven by vengeance, unencumbered by the rules of the Host.

The tale is masterfully twisted and tragic... and it isn't done yet.
  17. I caught a couple of pieces that related this story to the existing universe, for example...

    Quote:
He dreamed of a far-off place, a place filled with light-skinned people with hair of all colors and houses that went up so far that they threatened to touch the sky itself. He dreamed he was there, stalking the high places and watching over those peculiar people in their peculiar world. There, in the world of his dreams, it was his job to aid them, and aid them he did: he brought his strength into battle, and the gods followed with him.
As you added a great deal of information about Aztec history, it lead me to believe that this was the back-story of a hero that was destined to make it to Paragon (and his dreams were visions of the future). I read it and concluded that this tale was to give us a glimpse into how he came to be and how his personality was shaped.

Apparently, my interpretation was not what you intended.

Now that I think about it a little more, was this actually the reverse? Was this story the dream of a hero who is already in Paragon City?

  19. Let me take another crack at it...

The child is supposed to go into the pool, but she is to go alone. It is not his place to go with her. The desire she had for him to come with her was the child's fear of the unknown and the need for a companion on her journey into the water.

Matlactli's responsibility was to get her safely to that destination. He was not to go with her, and the Jaguar's action is to prevent him from following the child's path; it is not his destiny to go with her.
  20. I am now confused, but I suspect the confusion will be explained in the next part of the story.

The girl wanted him to enter the pool with him, and she is a special child, blessed with gifts from the gods, if I understood correctly.

On the other hand (no pun intended), the jaguar which had been following them for the entire story, seems to be an agent of the gods to ensure that he is successful in his journey with the child, does not want him to go into the pool with her.

    Interesting...
