Quick way to turn the 22nd amendment into the 20th: Eliminate Prohibition and the repeal.
[/ QUOTE ]
And the reason for Prohibition was....?
Perhaps the reason never rose it's head.
[/ QUOTE ]I'm guessing typo in the article. Same as with Mrs. Liberty. -
[ QUOTE ]
Um...OK...whatever happened to the rule where you cant be elected president more than twice? I am pretty sure they made this a rule at some point in time. Secondly I cant believe that is Manticore or Recluse. Something is up with this.
[/ QUOTE ]They reference that in the article. The Rogue Isle aren't United States in EITHER time line, and as such are not subject to American law. -
Why is everyone thinking Aeon needs help time traveling?
-
I wouldn't rely too heavily on the Arachnos Rising Plaques, either. Those seem to me to be heavily slanted 'history' plaques, as in that's the Lord Recluse version of history.
-
Uh for those talking about the 5th, that was referencing WWII, not modern day. The Council take over could have still happened, just not for several decades.
I want them back too, seeing as I missed them first time around, but remember this was just referring to the Presinator whooping tail half a century ago. -
Actually This clears a lot of stuff up, given that in mentions Dr. Aeon DIRECTLY as the source of El Presidente's power.
-
Turner can't catch a break in ANY dimension, can he?

“Manticore was one of the few men in the world I trusted with my life. Now he is one of the two men I would take it away from.” - Statesman
Whoa. Harsh words form blue-boy. -
So, Dr Aeon is making his move, huh? I wonder if this was what Dr Echo told him to do.
-
Erm, not actually reporting a new chapter or anything, but 'A Broken Man' is now hosted on w00tstudio's new Fiction Depot.

Here's the thing with the Zig story, though. If it is Breakout, THE Breakout, and not one of the latter returns to Ziggursky to bust out more villains, why is it happening two years later for them than it did for us?
There is a presumption that the CoH and CoV storylines are contemporaneous. I'm not sure that really plays, but there it is.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll admit I had to look up contemporaneous, but if that's true, that means that the breakout attempt in the article is now four years off of the "original" time line. -

For us the first breakout happened at a little more than two years after Outbreak hit. The articles put it closer to four, unless this is just another attempt.
If that's true, then Jenkins could have given out the general plan after he had been captured in the first one. It would also give time for the Ballista to get set up, and would give a reason for Recluse to be there. All the other plans haven't worked, time for the personal touch, which still flubbed. -

i skipped a few pages but has anyone mentioned the villain side to this? the fact that recluse was reported to possibly be seen AT the zig? doing what? Could Lord Recluse have gone back in time and stop you from escaping prison? Conspiracy alignment with longbow and arachnos to keep you from escaping? to keep you from being the "destined one"? to keep you from going into the future and defeating him? (as done on the last mission of every patron arc). We know there is time travel devices in the hands of arachnos and Lord Recluse has access to them at all time
[/ QUOTE ]
I think if he's been trying to break open the Zig for almost two years now with no success it's time to bring the heavy artillery. Namely, his own Incarnate self. -

I hope the Golden Roller contact is replaced with a tricked out Delorean. The souveneir for finishing his arc would be a "Flux Capacitor".
Biff could be an EB...
[/ QUOTE ]
Full. Of. Win.
[/ QUOTE ]
Biff IS an EB. He's the lead Arachnoid you face in Dobb's arc. -

Hmm, alternate reality OR time travel paradox?
[...]
You know what I find really interesting? No mention of the Rikti.
[/ QUOTE ]
Alternate reality. Rikti earth invaded our reality, not theirs.
[/ QUOTE ]But if this is Time Travel, then this IS our reality, just missing a few important details. Of course, I'm not sure which it is, I'm just saying we don't need to write this off as a different place.
High_Beam: The Circle DO have history with time travel. Whatever happened with that old tower and Diviner Maros. -
[ QUOTE ]
What confuses me is why the paper put them in with the Outbreak victims. In 'the world without you' Katie clearly died from the Red Caps, Ernesto's trechery gets found out by the Council, and Sara Moore is left in the Shadow Shard with a loosed and rampaging Ruladak.
In the "world without you", none of those people lived long enough to fall victim to the events portrayed in the proper timeline....
[/ QUOTE ]Actually, looking back at the article, it seems like it's just a list of fallen, not specifically to the virus-drug. Either way, they dead. -
[ QUOTE ]
Keep in mind that CoH has quite a few redundant contacts - there are several different ones that offer the same story arcs, as I recall (and you randomly get one of them with any given character). They could just be thinning the herd, so to speak.
I'm curious about the TF-related ones, though (Katie Hannon, Ernesto Hess, and Sara Moore). They have taken out TF contacts before, so there is some precedent for it...

Also, folks need to remember, this isn't the real past we're reading about. It's the wrong past that we're going to have to prevent. -

I always thought that the 'second tower' wasn't built yet. He seems to be referencing an Oranbegan effort, not an Arachnos one.
EDIT: Found the text I was looking for(emphasis mine): [ QUOTE ]
I was part of it all when we first tried to build a tower to the heavens. When it happens again, what will become of me afterwards?
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but put it in the context of his other quotes. He references Recluse's Victory not being yours, and Recluse's tower contains the time portal to that victory, and is definitely a "tower to the heavens" that's still not done being built (listen to the Arachnos Bane Spiders welding on the tops of it).
That and "when it happens again" doesn't clearly imply that the next such tower has to be built by the Oranbegans.
[/ QUOTE ]
That is an interesting thought. But I was under the impression that Recluse's purpose for the tower was nothing more than the antenna for his Web device. Of course, that's not to say the Circle around the Island can't try something with it, like with Aeon's PTS. Then again, with the main devices broken, maybe Recluse does have a 'Plan B' installed.
Gah, there's still so much to go over. -

Not quite. The 5th are Nazis, hence they go back to mid 1940's. Nemesis made his first big American* push in the 1920's.
[/ QUOTE ]
I mean the Fifth have been trying to alter history for longer than anyone else. Does Nemesis try to change the past?
[/ QUOTE ]
Caught that after I posted, sorry. -
[ QUOTE ]
1. The Fifth Column have the longest history of any group in the game of messing around with changing time. Case in point, Ubelmann the Unknown.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not quite. The 5th are Nazis, hence they go back to mid 1940's. Nemesis made his first big American* push in the 1920's.
*even then his name had already been shortened from Nemesis of the Nobility, already a well established Villain.
EDIT: whoops, just noticed the bit in there about time travel. I concede this point. However, in matters of Time manipulation, the 5th are still not the oldest. That goes to the Circle, and what ever the tower was supposed to do that cause Maros' condition. -
[ QUOTE ]
Alternately, it could be Dr Aeon making his own play to rewrite history. After all, he's heavily involved with time travel already, and it could be that he wants to take some extra steps to ensure that the future he has seen never has a chance to come to pass.. with or without you.
[/ QUOTE ]
The way I understand it is like this; Dr Aeon comes from the future to assassinate our villains. He's stopped by Echo in the conversation we interrupt in our teens. (Echo is talking to Aeon of the future, not the one of today, Echo is from further along the time stream) Now what he tells Aeon? to do, aside from not killing the players is open to suggestion as they BOTH time hop out of there after the fight.
[ QUOTE ]
Or maybe Requiem is tired of playing second fiddle to some ancient Italian man in a funny hat, and decided to bring the 5th back with style
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope. Already confirmed that the Return of the 5th will be led by Reichman, not Requiem. -

Circle of Thorns. Think about it, crazy/psychotic cultists who aim to become "all powerful", mess with the timeline to kill of millions...maybe I'm the only one who sees this.

Said this in the other thread. Two words. Diviner Maros. -

Wait wait wait, if it is mystic in origin, now I'm thinking Diviner Maros and his towers.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would love for that to tie in somehow. The clues I am seeing just to seem to link to that in any way, though. He really seems to be talking about Recluse's tower as the second one.

That was my reaction reading this.

I thought we took care of that in Faultline. The only way that could be used to get rid of us is if we weren't here to need to be gotten rid of.
