Oh yes, one other thought.
For Castle to comment on this being a noticeable problem in PvP tells me it happens more than the random occasion as seen in PvE teams where multiple players have and fire vengeance at about the same time.
Sounds like third party software to me! Betcha somebody's using some nice little program to take control of the team's attacks, just like targeting binds, and firing off vengeance for the team. Otherwise even using TS or Vent wouldn't cause it due to the lag differential and connection speeds.
Wouldn't your time be better spent looking for that than trying to solve what's normally a rarity? Last time I checked you still can't click to get on trams everytime the doors are open. Why not clear up that little ditty, since it's much more annoying? -
Whew!
Thanks for taking care of this hideous abuse!
Naturally you'll be eliminating the same abhorrent situation for the Nemesis on PvE right?????
Because otherwise, your motives would be highly questionable. I mean if stacked vengeance is wrong, it's wrong both for players and the AI of Nemesis. Feel free to announce that stacked veng has been wiped out for them and you'll be a hero for sure. -
I'm with you about MoG's basic issues. Since I rolled my first regen back in I2, I couldn't understand why the top tier power in a set devoted to taking all damage from any source and healing it would suddenly flip around, shut off all healing and become defensive.
It just doesn't make sense! The top tier power for a regeneration set should offer top tier regeneration. It's been said repeatedly that IH is really the tier 9 for regen. I'd go along with that but now with it set to being a click power and reduced regen rate hero stats has it as boosting regen...about 1/2 the amount as rest. I have a little trouble claiming that my uber heal is 50% the heal of anybody's lvl 2 power (even if I can attack and move while it's on).
#1: Does anybody else find it odd that a moment of glory lasts longer than instant healing? Last I heard a moment was a pretty brief period of time.
#2: If it's going to be a "moment" why not make it make sense with the set? Ever try to kill a scrapper with Elude running? How about unstoppable? Why not follow that route instead, it seems common knowledge that MoG kills you fast in PvP (yes, I'm sure somebody will post "no way! mine is teh uberest"). Why not have activation give you a full heal, good damage mitigation for its run time and the usual crash at the end? I say good mitigation because it would be out of balance with other top tier powers to have their same lvl of mitigation + boosted regen. Everything has its kryptonite, slows and -regen all cut /regen off at the knees anyway. Hell, why not make MoG like IH and a good def or resist buff? Still prolly wouldnt' be as strong as a tank on unstopp or granite with roots but has the achilles heal of -regen to drop it in PvP or PvE. -
So you have a brute of an unkown primary / secondary and you SAY you can solo it in less than 30 minutes.
will you complain as much if your build gets nerfed to the point that you no longer can solo missions let alone TFs?
If the median player is able to complete a TF with difficulty, in a reasonable amount of time we should expect the devs to feel it's performing "as intended".
Statistically there are always outliers. This includes people such as you claim to be and people who have never completed a TF or respec (and yes, they do exist).
If you are such an excellent player, you have a few options to make the game more challenging. I suggest you role a man build, slide that difficulty bar all the way up and enjoy a challenging game. This will reduce the time you need to take out of your day crowing about how overpowered you are. It will also help balance your particular abilities with the median players.
Enjoy tough guy! -
How about this:
If you have your toon set to "Looking for any team" don't complain about the team that invited you, or quit with no comment seconds after accepting the invitation.
If you think you know a better strategy for playing an AT, take the extra 3 seconds and phrase it constructively. Saying "wth, you suxk" is not going to get you a "Thank God! Someone who knows how to play my toon, what should I do?" response. Unless there's a /sarcasm in front of it.
Maybe this is petty, but I see a lot of folks posting "I only play with teams +2 to my level". To me, if I am +2 this translates into "I'm trying to level quickly and want to suck up xp without being able to contribute as well as if we were on the same lvl"
Finally: If you post "no blind invites" and I take the time to inform you of what the team or objectives are and what we would like your role in the team to be, please take the same time to respond!I understand if you're in the middle of a fight and have to wait a minute or two, that's cool, but at least fire back a tell when things clear up.

ok, I've read about 6 pages in this thread and I just have to stop. It's depressing the heck out of me. I5 went live, I logged on a couple of my 50 melee toons and haven't used them since other than to transfer some inf. I was all happy and stuff building trollers (which I never made before) and trying out the sonic def set simply because I had no frame of reference pre-I5 with the builds and was able to have fun with them.
I too am saddened by so many friends and excellent players that have moved on to other games. It seems clear that the future success of CoH is really based in successful marketing to new groups that have no Pre-I5 experience. Not sure how many others noticed but in I4 it was common to see 2 or even 3 bubs on the server activity status when logging in, now Freedom is the only server that occasionally has 2 bubs and I haven't seen 3 bubs once. The Nerfers that be may not notice it, but CoH is a business and it is assured that SOMEBODY is noticing.
I'm going to stick this out for a few more months just to see where it ends up. Anybody remember "New Coke"? That was the bright idea that almost sunk the CocaCola corporation in the 80's. Perhaps portions of I5 are the New Coke of CoH. -

Wanted to explain the reasons for changing Burn...
It became apparent that Burn was the trump power...with it, a Tanker needed to do nothing else. He could lay down a Burn patch and Taunt foes in and out of it. The damage was so great that the Burn patch itself would do the defeating; the Tanker only needed to hit Taunt.
The question has come up - "what's the point of Burn now?" Well, it still offers Immobilization defense (we're actually going to increase that duration). And Burn does do a lot of damage. Taunt alone might not bring mobs into Burn continually, but stunning, holding, immobilizing mobs in Burn is just plain devastating.

It would appear yet again that the current vision of tanks is that they all REQUIRE assistance in order to function. Far as I know stun, hold, immob are not tanker powers. Does the mean that an I5 tanker must carefully choose who to team with and exclude others so that those necessary hold, immob etc. powers are there?
Additionally there is the AI question of why the fear on burn in the first place. When using other powers the enemy only occasionally runs away from a fight when taking damage. Why should damage from burn be much different per opponent than damage from Greater Fire Sword, or any other attack by any AT? In fact, since the start of punchvoke, tank attacks generally have an element of provoke in them, not fear.
Perhaps the issue here is the DPS of burn as a power. If DPS is the problem then wouldn't the logical solution be to simply lower the damage done per burn cycle? Tanker primaries are typically all about defense with elements of taunt thrown in. Fire is unusual because it uses fire as its taunt which means that damage dealing is inherent in it.
If change is required for burn because it is just too much damage for the AT why not simply scale back its damage so that instead of 11-13s it is only dealing out 2-4s? Leave the cycle time alone, strengthen its KB protection time so that it is more in line with Tanker Defenses (right now you MUST pick accrobatics if you don't want to be a tank-pinball).
Better yet, instead of the added Fear, you could put in some taunt so that it works like a tanker power should!
IMO a much better solution and MUCH more in line with the rest of the AT expectations. -
First: Good Luck to your brother, may he do his tour and come home safe and sound!
maybe he can say Hi to 2 of my nieces and 1 nephew that are currently over there.
Second: I appreciate your honesty States! If you've ever read my posts they are usually full of passion and probably could use a little polish, so fair's fair on that one. In fact I'd rather get the truth of how you feel than some PR BS line. Since we're all full of honesty now, can we talk about this I5 thing? maybe even some I4 stuff?????
