Quote:I'm not sure this news means people should stop earning Incarnate salvage. If anything this news means we should start hording any salvage we do get to be ready to spend it wisely once we know what the new options are. Thanks for announcing this before I start another round of Incarnate considerations. I'll hold off on grinding any more raids until I see what's coming.

No you didn't. I'm just indirectly pointing out that there will probably -always- be some things in this game that will be "limited" within the confines of the holiday event system. I guess it's worth trying to see if they'll make it so that there's NO reason to play the game during the events to get all the holiday specific rewards, but I wouldn't count on it.
-
Quote:There are going to be a whole bunch of people re-raising the issue of being able to "respec" or "reassign" currently crafted Incarnate powers. I'll bet there are a lot of people in your relative position who won't want to have to build up to get the other new options. It'll be interesting to see how whiny people get about it this time.New Alpha, Destiny, Interface, and Judgement slots? ARGH! And I'm so close to having every available Tier 4 power!
-
Quote:I'd expect something like your "Extremely Rare" 5th tier before another Incarnate slot.I wonder what that last part means? Another Incarnate slot opening? (I'd have thought they would just come out and say that) or a new "Extremely Rare" tier added to each of the other slots?
Like you said if this was "opening one of the last 5 Incarnate slots" they would have said that more plainly. -
Quote:Personally I'm still expecting the Omega Incarnate power to be a "I win MoKeyes" button.excited to see more options for incarnate powers as well as new trials, although i hope the badges are about on par with the underground trial (please for the love of everything do not make badges like you did for keyes)
-
Quote:It's interesting that they are expanding the Incarnate slots we already have instead of opening up the top 5 we don't have yet. I guess they are really taking a very long view of the future of the game.

Now holding off on doing any new incarnate crafting until more info comes out about these...

I would consider the fact that the Bats aura is purchasable in the Paragon Market a friendly compromise between the two. Believe it or not there really is no law against the Devs providing us rewards that can only be gained during limited holiday events. *shrugs*

Quote:This is leading me to believe that the zombies in this show are not 100% mindless and may have a tiny bit of "instinct" leftover from when they were alive. For instance the zombies in the church may have been super devout people when they were alive and went to that church often. So once they became zombies they may still go through the motions of sitting in church because the surroundings were so familiar to them when they were alive.Agreed, but overall the chilling part for me was that it looked like the main zombie was grinning/smiling right up until he got his head smacked. Dude was probably sitting in church during a sermon grinning like a maniac before the zombapocalypse I suppose...crazy church people

I guess we'll see if that kind of thing gets established in the show. -
Quote:Of course there's the other point that most of these people are straightforward civilians who've probably never had NBC and/or hazmat training. Rick and Shane (as law enforcement officers) -might- have had that kind of training. But they don't have any of that kind of equipment to use regardless.Agreed and hollywood is hollywood...I was just saying the screaming and zombie fluids just seemed to jump out at me

Fanservice beat me to the the reponse about protective suits/goggles etc. Anyone here in the military knows about mandatory NBC training (chemical gear/protective mask); we used to try and make it not so tedious by doing an hour at a time geared up but playing sports. You realize how quickly you can overheat, masks fogging etc to know its not an easy deal.
Gotta be safe, but I cant imagine running from zombies in Georgia (105 degrees easily?) with anything more than a couple of layers of anything, but I probably would.
I'd rather just use a bit of "Hollywood suspension of disbelief" and just assume the Zombie virus in this show is not spread just by getting zombie blood on exposed skin.

Quote:You obviously didn't bother to read the next post I wrote directly after this post you're commenting on. No big deal.Actually the show and comic are not all that similar.....yes the show is based on the comic, however Kirkman has stated that the comic is not to be considered canon for the show. Besides what would be the point of watching a show that is panel for panel out of a comic? People would lose interest and the show would no longer be aired.......
Anyway like I've said I have not read the comic. Sure a TV show that was "panel for panel" identical to a comic might be boring to the relatively few people who've read it already. But trust me when I say there are far more people out there like me who have not read the comic yet and are experiencing this story for the first time via the TV show. I'm not saying this show should or must be "panel for panel" identical to the comic - I'm just saying there are a lot of people out there who wouldn't know the difference if it was.

Quote:I honestly don't think they'll get too religious/philosophical about it. I'm still guessing what we'll find out is that someone was hunting the deer and shot at it from a long distance away. From the angle we saw it basically looked like Carl was at the uniquely bad position of being directly opposite from where the shooter was. The idea that the shooter would have, on purpose, wanted to hit both the deer and the boy at the same time seems fairly unlikely all things considered. I'm almost sure we'll find out the shooter had no clue the boy was even there. As for the kid getting shot, I hope they don't go too deeply religious or philosophical. I suppose some mention of the fact he asked Jesus a favor and (assuming here) gets it by finding the girl but that it comes with such a high price... But I really hope the show doesn't start dwelling on such.
But the boy being shot will also give the girl's mother (sorry, I suck at names) more mental anguish to deal with, whether her daughter is found or not. She blamed the Sheriff, he continued the search because of that, he put his own son in danger and that danger was realized... That woman just cannot catch a break.
I don't think Rick is going to be shaking his fist up to the sky and shouting to God, "Was my boy getting shot my sign?!?". I still believe this will lead toward finding Sophia and ultimately be a pivotal moment, but it's not going to be an obvious one like a Burning Bush.

Quote:That's what happens when the latest updates of an online MMO gets shackled to the needs of an outdated print-based media.Per the PM, and I'm paraphrasing, it's because the magazine has exclusive rights to be the distributor of that content. If we want to see the images, we're supposed to buy the magazine. There's no problem reproducing those images elsewhere, it just can't be done on the main boards.

Quote:Sounds like they might be doing the same kind of thing here that they did with True Blood on HBO. During the four seasons that show has been on they've cherry picked various bits and pieces of the novels it's based on and re-arranged the plot points (with new material) to reformulate a new version of the story. What this means for Walking Dead is that there'll be side stories from the comics that aren't covered in the TV show and/or other parts that are revealed much earlier in the TV show than they were in the comic books. That, and we're missing the twins and their parents, which later on is a decent enough plot point. The Hispanics weren't in the comics, nor is Darryl/Dale/whatever his name is. They've also passed up Wiltshire Estates and that whole bit with Sophia running off is also new.
It looks like either way they're going to make an interesting show no matter how it turns out.

Quote:TSR had plenty of problems from a business point of view and probably should have failed years before it actually did. But as I implied earlier the fact that D&D could apparently only survive under the control of the likes of WotC was a bittersweet outcome at best. *shrugs*wouldn't knock WotC too hard. TSR was crashing and burning when WotC picked them up. so if not for them there wouldn't have been any other editions of DnD to gripe about.
Besides nothing stops me from playing 2nd Ed games today so the -need- for WotC to produce anything newer is questionable at best. -
No big deal. It's just that anytime we players suggest something the Devs are always going to look at it from the point of view of "how could this be exploited by players". Sadly your OP ideas would be very exploitable.

Anyway I would love to be able to get a "Sidekick Pet" as a cool new power. It could be behave like a Lore Incarnate pet with hardwired powers. The cool part would be that we could create a costume for it so that it could look like anything we wanted.
-
Quote:People who desperately want the parts but hate whatever content unlocks them have an alternate unlock route, with the bonus of getting the parts on every character. All I would say to this is that your collective definitions of "getting a character to look right" must be extremely limited if you're going to keep letting the fact that a tiny handful of costume items (out of the thousands that are available by default) are locked to starting characters bother you. Mountain, meet molehill.Quote:I agree with this completely. Let us purchase all unlockable costume pieces and weapons and price them accordingly. Then turn around and add all purchasable weapons and gear to some kind of in-game, per-character unlock so that those who don't want to pay can weight the value of their time vs. the value of their money.
-
Well your first suggestion would allow people to easily set up super-useful bots that would not need to be managed at all. That reason alone will keep it from ever happening. Your second suggestion again sounds like a method to allow for easier mass-farming, especially coupled with your first suggestion.
Basically I would not hold my breath for either of these happening anytime soon... -
Quote:Just as I don't want to "spoil" myself with anything the comics have in common with the TV show I likewise don't want to get bogged down with details that don't or can't match up either. There are still some pretty big differences. The CDC and any virus explanation or origins it would have/could have provided are more explanation than the comics have ever seen.
Like I said before I'll probably eventually read the comics to enjoy the differences. But since the TV show is my first experience with the story I'd rather watch it standalone for a while until I get curious enough to want to read the comics. -
Quote:That's exactly why I said earlier in this thread the Devs don't have to give us full-blown powersets or full costume sets every week to satisfy their claim of being able to give us "something new every week".Holy cow.... Even if they did 1 powerset a month, That'd be a TON of powersets... And costume packs... They have to have other stuff in their, now I'm very curious.
Sure we might get a few full sets here and there but most likely we'll get something simple like the firefighter helmet we got last week. Remember a "new item every week" could mean as little as a single new costume item per week.

Quote:I'm aware enough of the comics this show was based on to know that the plot of this show is so far "fairly similar" to what took place in the comics. That's exactly why I'm avoiding them for the time being so that I don't get spoiled too much.See...those of who have read the comics "know" what's coming, in broad terms. We might not know exactly how/when/what they are doing with the show, but those previews are pretty much what happened in the comics.
-
Quote:Are you referring to what I said? I've never read the comics this TV show is based on and I've actually actively avoided learning any more about them for now. I'll probably eventually read them, but for now anything I "guess" about the story here will be based on pure TV show knowledge without any inside info.Is it acceptable to reference stuff from the comics? Ya, it would be spoilers and all.

Quote:I'll admit seeing a zombified Sophia jump out of the trees to attack the deer would have been a pretty cool scene.Hmm, zombie kids vs. deer that shoot bullets from their chests? I'll take two tickets for that show!

But clearly the deer being in the right place at the right time put Rick in direct contact with whoever shot the deer so in that regard it was the "sign" that he prayed for. Obviously his son getting shot was a bad thing, but that event will likely lead them towards the next step in their journey of survival, the least of which will be finding Sophia unharmed. -
Quote:Oh no, it will be in the store. I was just surmising that they'd wait until the event was over before adding it.That's good. I just know a lot of people have been wanting this kind of pet for a long time for all sorts of character concepts. I personally never -needed- a pet like this, but I suspect I might end up retrofitting a few of my characters to use it if it's cool enough.Quote:Unless they have changed it since Friday, the wolf pet is not a reward for the Halloween trial.

Quote:The thing that bothered me about Andrea's gun was that you'd think she'd know at least a little bit about how it worked and how to put it back together already. Sure I don't expect her to be super-SWAT trained solider, but still if her father gave her that gun you'd think at some point she would have learned the absolute basics about it. It just struck me as odd that she'd be completely clueless when it was already established that she and her sister spent a lot of time with their father camping, fishing and doing other outdoorsy things. Of course they did establish that she didn't even know about the safety on that gun in the first season so it seems like the writers can't decide if she's completely clueless in this area or not.If her gun hadn't been disassembled, she'd have shot that walker in the RV and brought the whole herd down on her and Dale, and possibly the others. I think he was as much, if not more, concerned about that as he was about her killing herself.
I can accept the idea that it'd be a good idea for Rick/Shane to properly familiarize everyone with how to use different types of guns. But I do think they labored the whole "Andrea shouldn't get to have a gun" point a bit too much just to stress the whole attempted CDC suicide thing.
Apparently the zombie virus doesn't work to make every dead body a zombie. Even as early as the first episode we saw a whole bunch of dead people who weren't zombies. I imagine they'll start explaining it more as time goes on. It's probably even related to that "super secret" thing that Dr. Jenner whispered to Rick at the end of the first season.Quote:My question is, why weren't the dead bodies in the traffic jam zombified?
Likewise the virus apparently doesn't affect you unless it gets into the bloodstream so having zombie blood splash on you is just simply icky, not necessarily fatal.
They might kill off the kids at some point. But like I implied before I'll bet they both pull through out of this episode. Sophia will turn up with whoever shot the deer and I'll bet they be able to save Carl with some medical drama in the next episode.Quote:OBLIGATORY SPOILER ALERT:
I wasn't expecting the ending we got. I figured the dear would have been how they found the girl (Rick's answered prayer) or that a zombie would be lunging out of the bushes for the kid. Instead, the deer shot a bullet out of its chest!!
Seriously, though, the writers were going to have to resolve the issue of kids aging too fast. Killing them off is the easier solution.

Quote:Yeah threads like these usually become unavoidably spolier filled. Comes with the territory. At this point, the thread should be considered spoiler-full, even thought I can't change the title.

REDUNDANT SPOILER ALERT:
So, since I doubt we'll find Sophia in a non-dead or zombified state, they essentially wiped out both kids in the premiere! Yes, I know Carl will make it (for some amount of time, anyway), but still... DAMN.
Great opener though, and the helicopters in the "upcoming scenes" make me thing some kind of civilization survived somewhere in North America.
Also, can someone refresh my memory, how did Dale "take away" Andrea's decision? Was she going to stay in the CDC and he said he wouldn't leave without her or something? My memory is fuzzy on that. I do disagree with keeping her gun from her. As long as she's not a threat to the group, she entitled to a weapon (especially her OWN damn gun!) In fact, I was wondering why everyone wasn't armed as they scavenged the traffic pile-up. Except in the case of a huge zombie herd, it would have be much safer.
Anyway I think we'll find that whoever shot the deer (and apparently by accident Carl as well) managed to find Sophia in the woods and she'll still be alive. Whether the shooter turns out to be friendly or not remains to be seen.
As far as the helicopters in the "upcoming scenes" goes we already know Rick saw a helicopter flying over Atlanta in the first season so there's been a hint that some kind of civilization survived for a while now.
And basically when Andrea decided to commit suicide at the CDC Dale sat down with her and claimed he would not leave without her. In the last few seconds she decided she didn't want to be the reason Dale killed himself too so she ran out. Obviously she's still mad at him for "tricking" her like that.
