tl;dr
Heroes: 1134 -or- 1173 Incarnate
Villains: 919 -or- 958 Incarnate
According to my research, on the Live server with Issue 23 there are...
437* Hero badges (earnable by heroes-only and/or in hero zones)
222 Villain badges (earnable by villains-only and/or in villain zones)
590** Mixed badges (earnable by both heroes and villains)
1 Vigilante-only badge ("Fearsome": earnable by maintaining a Vigilante alignment for 7 days)
1 Rogue-only badge ("Trickster": earnable by maintaining a Rogue alignment for 7 days)
107 Praetorian badges (earnable by heroes and villains in Praetorian zones)
3 Praetorian-only badges (earnable only by starting a character in Praetoria, specifically: "Moral High Ground", "Resistance Member", "Loyalist")
39 Incarnate badges (earnable by level 50+ VIP only)
Total: 1400 badges
* Does not include the nine badges "Once the Victor" through "Nine times the Victor" which are replaced by "Ten times the Victor"
** Does not count "Trusting" separately since it is replaced by "Arriviste" and vice versa
Also, these numbers DO include time restricted badges such as the Anniversary badges and holiday Event badges. -
Quote:We were in the "avoiding work by looking busy" department.Stagehands?
But which department? Lighting, Audio, Rigging, Sound, Video, Carpentry, etc?
Thankfully we got away with it. Mostly because others with no costume also attended the party wearing all black and so joined the "Stagehand" crew. -
Link to the archived Twitch session that just ended. Thank you for hosting a last chat for us, Hit Streak!
Lots of rednames stopped by for the tangent fest. Sorry, no summary, it was pretty much non-stop grins for an hour. Waaaaaaay too much to highlight. It was a great celebration of our fantastic Paragon Studios team.
My favorite, the part that made my cheeks hurt from laughing, was learning about the office pranks.
What was your favorite part? -
My household dressed all in black as "Stage Hands".
All right, all right, it was a cop out. But I have a good reason! I was saving money for Real World Hero in November.
Back on topic, I know some players have done great cosplay of their characters over the years. Such as Statesman at Comic Con.
Anyone want to share pictures of those as well as costumes from this year? -

Quote:Wait, now I'm confused. I thought one of the last things the devs did was to open the Beta server for everyone. Is it still only VIP access? Have you tried to download and access the Beta server since 9/1, QuarriosSoul?I'd be more excited for the SSA if I was actually subbed come announcement. I'm sure that it's a good one, though!
I really hope you can log on to see SSA 2 Part 5, and anything else you wanted to try in i24! -
All three emails have been sent. Enjoy!

*** Spoilers for SSA2 ***
So I finally got on Beta today to run SSA 2 part 5. After completely clearing out the first mission I tried to enter City Hall to personally assure Mayor Morales that the coast was clear of all Nemesis assailants...
Closeup:
Hehe, oops!
Probably the first and only time I wish there had been a Ruin Mage around to take out. -
Someone was asking about viewing the original City Of Heroes comics. They are still available online.
Top Cow Issue 4 - 6 was used for the Twilight's Son Task Force.
The only thing I don't see there, or anywhere else online, is the Fanzine Issue #0 and Fanzine Issue #1. -
Thank you for letting me bring my bot brothers along tonight for the fun!
Taking down Lusca to start was an extra treat. Unfortunately I got the screenshot two seconds too late.
Then Team Vortex finished a few minutes after Team Luna (sorry, can't remember who the other team lead was), a time 38:26; defeats not tracked.
Thanks again and see you around, Freedom Horde! ;-> -

Would anyone else like something? -

Still gaming, which means rebuilding a stash of Reward Merits. I would like to share them with you, the loyal community who have given me some of the best years of my life.
Since I can't email them directly, I will use them to buy whatever one tradable item you want that can be purchased via the Merit Vendors.
There are a few thousand Reward Merits to spend and the offer is open until the merits are gone.

Remember to:

Let the gifting begin! -
Think tonight I'll bring along Robubbles (Robot/FF MM), she and her boys could use some good play time.
PS Texarkana, check your in-game email. ;-> -

The CoH YouTube channel hasn't been updated with the Twitch community chats since 9/5/2012.
But the videos are still archived at Twitch TV. Here are direct links to the chats Hit Streak has graciously hosted since Zwillinger left:
September 26th
October 3rd
October 10th
October 17th
and yesterday October 24th, with his mention of Samuraiko's movie.
Back on topic: Thank you again for how you have enriched the community with your videos, Samuraiko. Videos, yours and ones like them, are one of my favorite CoH treasures to keep after 11/30 turns the rest of the game dark.
May you always find fulfillment in your creations! -
We're back! Real World Hero 2012:
Thanks to TovyV's announcement, I tuned in to the BacktoBasicsRadio interview with the Wentworths.
There I learned that Real World Hero is back for 2012! WHOOHOO!
The Auction is happening November 1 through November 10. There promises to be a lot of goodies and last-chance CoH collector items up for grabs.
Hope to see you at the opening celebrations on Friday night, November 2!

Sorry if it seemed like I had abandoned this project. Quite the opposite, I've been hard at work over the last month trying to save the forum stories.
At the rate I was going I figured only about 20% would get done before the forums went Poof. So I switched tactics to only downloading files.
I am pleased to report that today I finished going through all the Roleplaying threads one-by-one. I also searched for all the keywords I could think of in the other For Fun! and Server forums to locate stories, for I don't have the energy to manually dig through those forums, too. Must have done something right, for I refound the ones jwbullfrog linked to.
The nested folders at http://tiny.cc/cohrp have been updated to require two fewer clicks for reading stories. These browsable converted files will stay up until I am done reading them. Or longer, if anyone requests they remain.
The Download folders have been removed, since I get the impression no one cared about them. Going to only upload converted stories from now on. If anyone would like copies of the original, non-converted files please let me know.
Of note, I think vast number of stories under the name Ex_Libris were not all done by that one redname community rep. Especially because of some OOC threads where several posts in a row had the Ex_Libris user name, but had different writing voices and differing opinions. Also there are many posts attributed to that use name which are prior to the July 2005 forum join date of Ex_Libris. I suspect what happened is that some usernames were lost over time, perhaps during a forum transfer/upgrade, and Ex_Libris became a default filler name.
Next up for me: Sort and upload the 3,700+ files of saved stories. Starting with...

Sadly, there are not any after November 5th.
Like SSA 2 (Pandora's Box) Part 4 and Part 5, the Weekly Strike Targets were pre-loaded on live a few months in advance.
There is no one left at Paragon Studios who can load more WST on live. -
That was fun! I know most people don't like Synapse, but on runs like tonight I find it a lot of fun.
Team Thunder finished in 1:38:02 and met its 5 Defeats goal.
And this time both our team and Luna's team spawned a Babbage, with all defeating him (it?) both times.
Thank you for continuing to let me tag along, Freedom Horde! -

For me personally, Blondeshell encapsulated the answer to this question in their thread: What made City of Heroes unique for you?
Short answer: The ability to be uniquely customize the experience on every level, to have many secondary options that are not required for functional gameplay (enhancements, market, badges, souvenirs, etc), to have a story environment that centers around heroism, and to capable of fully unrestricted and untimed flight.
Okay, on the last one CoH technically has warwalls and an invisible ceiling, but I have the ability of continuous 3-dimensional flight through dozens of interesting environments for as long as I am inclined. Sometimes for literally hours at a time. Such flight was one of my biggest hooks in City Of Heroes.
Something that developers cannot code but is equally important is a cooperative community. Then again, something about playing a hero does bring out the best in us, thus leading to a player base that is supportive and encouraging.
