    Architect Screen

    Hey there,
When I go into the Mission Architect, for some reason, the editing screen is too large for my window. Meaning that I only see 3/4 of the Architect screen. I have a slower computer, so I have my graphics set low, but it has never been a problem before. Is this just a glitch? Or is anyone else having this problem?
  2. Hello there everyone.
Just wondering if anyone has a good design for a Hero in a power suit, sort of like Iron Man or Positron.
I have played around in the Hero Creator, but haven't come up with a design that I really like. Especially the helmet...

Anyone have any characters like this for inspiration?

    All my Alts

Gargantuan characters with Black, Exo Proto Armor, shoulder length hair and battle kilts seem to be really popular on your account...

Please note not a criticism, as they are nice characters individually...and by all means, use the stuff you like. Just an observation that jumped out at me, especially since I often will only use a particular costume piece on one character unless there is a real need for it. (for example, I only have one character that has Exo Proto Armor. And only one that has a hood.)
  5. As for some design thoughts, one of the best things I ever did was to go into the designer with no intention of making a new character.
I just decided to see how things worked...try it it is a lot of fun.
Here are some things that I found/did during that experiment...

    1. Try all of the different emblem patterns (Circle, blend, diamond, etc.) with all of the different chest designs. See how they interact. Try making your design color the same as the chest color with a different emblem...(for example, the Medieval X pattern with a circle emblem creates a neat negative pattern)
    2. See what the chest designs look like with both colors selected as the same. Some designs become much bolder and make a great statement (I especailly see this in the raven)
    3. Run through the options from the back only. Armored pants with the Stealth straps can make it look like you are wearing overalls...might look great from the front, but...
    4. Keep the "Use these two colors" X marked...while it doesn't always work (and often doesn't) it is there for a reason...give it a chance once and a while.
    5. Play with the sliders. In the costume mode, not the initial setup screen with the green body. Shift things as you are looking at them in larger scale. You would be surprised at just how different it can make the characters.
    6. Hit Random...a lot...That is how I realized that a "Baggy" top on Sinister looks an awful lot like a Sweater...(Sweater and Jeans man is still a character I am considering making)
    7. Try to create an existing hero...DO NOT ACTUALLY CREATE THEM...but these characters are iconic for a reason. Getting a hold on how to create the Green Lantern symbol out of what is available to you can open a lot of doors.
    8. Design around one thing. Starting with a mask you like or particular boots can ground your design and let things grow from there.
    9. Don't be too dead set on one particular thing. Sometimes it just won't work. You need to cut your losses some times and try again.
    10. Character is evolving...sometimes you can let a random costume inspration drive your character's story. Have a Technology hero but want to use Tights and not armor? Maybe it is a futuristic suit sent back from the future with alien technology...Maybe the jewel on your belt has to be yellow because it brings in the power of the yellow sun...
  6. Here is a question...and please, I don't want this to become a big argument...there have already been enough of those so far...
But one of the major arguments regarding the use of Black in costumes is that everyone is doing it, and there is too much of it running around.
But every single design that I have seen on this post that have gotten accolades uses White. Isn't that just as bad? I mean sure, it allows for better views of texture, but most of the white is on Tights legs, or other pieces that don't have much texture to them in the first place.

Now I am a design professional, so I understand wanting to mix things up, but is using white all over the place the answer? Not discounting that White is a good color to use by any means, but do we really want just as many white costumes running around as Black ones?

One of my suggestions is to use the costume sets that are provided by Sexy Jay, such as the Exo-Proto and Justice sets, and then use colors that fit with the powers you've chosen.

Am I the only one who really wishes you could change the color of the straps on the ExoProto Armor and not just the background? This is a perfect opportunity to bring in 3 colors to something, but the selection isn't there..
If I have any complaints about the constume creator, it is that certain items should have 3 color options.
  8. Here is an example I did showing how you can use the existing pieces in different ways. It is really simple, but I have always liked the effect...
    Midnight Solstice
  9. Excellent guide...as has been said many times before...
I have a TA/A Defender who just made it to level 10 but it has been slow going and the Hospital and I have become very well acquainted (Which when you are doing the Hollows missions is quite a hike...)
My build (so far) is not that different than that of Dancing Hawk...the only real differences are Flash Arrow and Combat Leaping...
My issue is that I just don't seem to be avoiding damage very much. Give me a mob of melee fighters, and I am usually able to clean them up. But any real ranged mobs (Gunners) just take me out before I can do much about taking out the group. I am very successful when I slot the right inspirations (Helath and Luck mainly) but running back to a contact after every large encounter is pretty tiresome.

Now I have read things before that have basically said that levels 8-15 are just hard with this type of build. And that The Hollows would be a nightmare...but just wondering if there is any advice to help make it easier.

My general combat sequence is this:
Flash Arrow; Pull someone if I can; Take out the pulled and repeat till I aggro the group.
Then Glue Arrow; Flash Arrow if it has worn off; and then just start Snap Shot/Aimed Shot/Entangling Arrow on the gunners (I know that the Entangling arrow doesn't do much, but it fills the rotation) then branch out to the melee fighters. But my problem is that none of these attacks do a ton of damage, and by the time I have taken out the gunner, the melee guys have fought through the glue and are on me. Or my "toe to toe" fight with the gunner has him doing more damage to me, than I am to him.

    Thoughts? Tactics? Advice?
