... just a single character maybe set in an alleyway background with maybe thug shadows casting on the ground in front of the character. I wouldn't think that would be ALL too difficult to do for most artists seeing some of the work being done on the internet. I suppose the only problem is time.

Two things:
First, there is so much to consider even in a single figure piece. Does the client want it to be run of the mill, does the client want the artist's input? Is this piece going to be a cookie cutter of something the client saw... used for a logo, a screensaver, an avatar. Many clients "ask" for the those privileges, they are not implied.
Second, how does the internet come into play on the artist's skill level? We are not machines, copy places or photographers. If you want a photo-manipulation, there are some very good ones, and some really shoddy ones. Time is a problem, and we're not paid for our time, we're paid for a final finished commission. If you take that $50 commission and spread it out over 25 hours, the artist just got paid $2 an hour for their "time"...
Neither of these statements are intended by me to be a personal attack on you, just something for you to consider... there is a very good sticky at the top of this forum on how to request fan art... my main suggestion whenever these threads come up, is to always include a screenshot of the toon you want drawn, just in case the artist is feeling generous.
Good luck in getting your pieces done. Xmas is coming and I believe many of the artists here will be having a sale.

I think that's gonna need a second click...

Hmmm gonna have to think about it... will get back to ya.

Are these scanned pencils or digital from the start ones?

*cough* SPIDER-WOMAN! *cough, wheeze*...

Okay now if Librarians really looked like that, I would have been better read...
-
yes I broke the laws of physics to include it... um maybe he just moved his leg, and the fin is a delayed time reaction... somehow I caught that!!!
-
Or actually all the versions of the same hero, the notorious...Wingman!
I met this player in game to take screens, and as he was showing me his costumes, I knew the Retro look would be the one I wanted to draw... I didn't know it would turn into a montage!
Full color to follow...

Yes, I'm afraid a few people not seeing it, is worth it to me versus getting an earful from my sister in law, who can be very forceful to say the least...
As for a clean version, I plan to mock one up soon... -
Sorry guys, I have DA filtering it as well, since I have nieces under 16 in Kansas who occasionally look at my work... and while this piece is nothing to be ashamed about, I have no control over what the blocker blocks... just that it does. All you missed were some tan lines around very bright mammary glands...

Okay double checked, it's in your Options menu, under Keymapping, scroll down to the bottom, where it starts under the Other heading, and find Toggle Screenshot UI, set some button to that, and should take the screen while you have your personal ID open on one side of your toon... I usually just set the button to hide the UI, since I want reference shots without type...
Hope that helps... -
ah didn't realize this was you... nice costume, even nicer art!
-
saweet! more beta pics please!
-
Would love to show my latest piece... but it's a bit NSFW, and I don't have that 2 click ability... so DO NOT click my Commision Info and then go to my main page... Don't do that!

Thank you all, fins were fixed as per client point out...

, he just loves the Batman cover it was inspired by.
[/ QUOTE ]I'm not a big comic reader, but I do like Batman, and I /did/ actually recognize this, even if I didn't know why... Looks awesome LJ

Thanks G, you have a great memory. This is the cover the client wanted me to emulate...
I ended up switching the arms cause I wanted the chest insignia to show more, and that is our own Masked Shrike, in the background.
I figured if she was smaller in the distance he would stand out better. The Tsoo was also a client request, but I chose that particular one since I thought his costume would help the composition.
Thanks for all the kind words everyone, up next, 2 more Heris...
