Wow, I LOVE her black and white stuff... gotta try some of that. Welcome to the forum, and welcome your sister for us. I am sure she will be flooded very soon.

What if you know the artist works relatively fast, but you somehow keep getting pushed back? Do you expect the artist to be as consistent time wise for your piece, because of their reputation, or do you still only care that your commission be given its own time frame towards a satisfactory conclusion?
-
I'll do it, but you have to sing the entire Death to Smoochy soundtrack...
-
3 figures minimum for an actual mailed "painting", that is both worth it to the collector and worth it to the artist.
As for unfinished, sometimes that style can work. Black and White ink work is some of the most amazing art there is... not to mention great pencils.
The collector usually gets what they pay for when it comes to non-professional work, sometimes and luckier for them, they get something they would have paid a fortune for...
My personal work ethic is that 4 hours a day doing one of the stages, pencil, ink, or color is my limit. I can sometimes work longer but then I become irritable, and must have my Crunch Berries. -

Illustrator is to ink pens and markers as Photoshop is to brushes and paints.

Excellent, now please complete the essay question:
The shiny spandex boo-tay and how to make it pop using 4 colors only. You may take the full hour. -

Hmmm, I never thought of flatting closed shape in Illustrator... not very intuitive, but I suppose it could be saved as a separate layer. You can get a painted look in Illustrator but it would require wire meshing, AND would take DAYS to do it well. Think of a human body made up of 4,000 squares, and you having to "water drop" color into each square, and then relate that color with every touching square. I wouldn't even attempt it without a lobotomy.

NICE NICE NICE transparency use Bass! Sweet work. And the flash stuff looks ready for animation. I dabbled in Flash, and liked it a lot, but it was a different learning curve for me. I'd love to use it more, but I already have 3 programs that drive me nuts, not sure I have time for flash as well... but I do love it.
As to the differences, what everyone else said, and better than I could have... -
Gonna finish this up for you... be back later! Then I will send you all of it.
Cheers,

I got my Commission of States from Juggy, and I Love it.

Fess up Juggy, YOU are the original artist! And it's "difficult" to reach you because you live in Asia somewhere...Sorry to drag you into it, again!

okay this is starting to get ugly. and yer english translation site is really bad. I withdraw my request for an art trade, there ARE too many holes here to make me comfortable. EVERY artist is unhappy with his work in some way, but the person you describe sounds either schizophrenic, manic depressive or bordering on depression. I don't understand how an artist of this caliber would have any doubts, so I find it hard to believe your story. thank you bayani for getting to the truth or at least trying to... Juggy can you vouch for this person?

Ah so they are teaching you vectors, got it. Yeah I don't use Illustrator for how it's meant to be used, but then Photoshop was never meant for comic coloring, it was "innovated" to do so. It was created for photo correction and manipulation, but the talent I see daily on DA tells me a whole new generation is growing up learning it the comic way, which I think is excellent.
Do a search for " Illustrator " brushes on DA, some are just shapes, but some are fun lines. I would send you my own, but they're set to my specifics and would probably throw you off as I work unnaturally large on the artboard.
I look forward to more of your growth. -
Yer only skimming the surface of the water Wassy... DIVE IN!!!
Check out these brushes, they are pressure sensitive if your Wacom has 1,024 levels of sensitivity. They may work on a Bamboo/Fun or Graphire, but it's been a while so not sure...
In the future I would check the settings on these and make my own, he says in his description that the white versions come out pink... not sure how he managed that? Also you know you can vary your stroke line from .25 to waaaay huge like 40 pt. and more.
I think that set is made from the calligraphy setting, so you can get a thick to thin in one stroke with pen pressure. I use to ink with "tapered" point brushes, but they have their place and aren't always smooth and clean.
Anyway regardless, the piece came out great! -

So I just tried out Illustrator for my inking for the first time (I'm taking a digital illustration course this semester that uses Illustrator)....
.... *dies and goes to heaven*
My GOD this is going to save me a hell of a lot of time. After messing until I got some brushes that I liked, I couldn't believe how much better it made the transition from the tablet to the screen.

EXACTLY!!! Don't forget the wonders of laying white on top of black, I sometimes do it on it's own layer to save me worry that I will touch the black lines I put down.
Can't wait to see what you come up with, can we see a before and after? -
...Sorry it's not finished... but it's Sunday night, and I shouldn't even be working, but I couldn't help myself. I hope you like it. The actual piece is HUGE, let me know where to send it if you want it...

I actually had YOU in my spot, but the final "Dynamic Duo" covered so much, that you and a certain 70s diva got shut out... So I switched places with your spot, which is why the "Burned to Death" label is ironic, considering LJ is immune to fire.... and um yer not.
Check out this
earlier version of the background poster...

Edit: Nothing against all the other great stuff you've done, and nothing against the other commission-ers, but I think this has to be your best one that I've seen yet.

I'm not offended.

I thought of putting Bats up front, but the commission was for a COH character and so she had to be in the lead...
LOL yeah I had fun coming up with those... anyone see the 2 guest COH people in the back? Here's a hint, one is obvious, the other girl had the title, "B**** got Smoked!" but it didn't make the final...
Edit: oh and technically I think Wherrlwynd has all of Superman's powers... so Bats HAS to take a back seat, though I really enjoyed drawing him, in fact I did the poster head before the final. -
Issue #1
References: here and here.
Details: Inks here and Colors here.
Okies I am off for some game time, I think I earned it...

My wife has the same mind, she meshes photorealistically... I would rather shoot myself then attempt to color and draw this way... I did it for 3 months before she told me to uncheck that box, something she thought I knew! Grrrrrr, can you imagine having to draw this way for 3 months on purpose!!!
Anyway I'm glad you enjoy it, it is not for me.
