Quote:This is kinda special for me...although it's not of him. I have very very close friend he'd be a brother if weren't for that pesky genes things.
Ahywho he's in a wheel chair and I think he would get a kick out of this.
your art is amazing LJ
Thank you, originally when I got the commission, I had no idea it would be non COH. The description of the character was that he had messy blonde hair, wore a tank top, workout pants and sneakers, was well built and in a wheelchair. I was asked by the client to look at previous depictions, and many of them were so good, I wasn't sure what I could add.
This was my first sketch... which was going to have a steampunk feel.
But the more I thought about it, I realized I had focused on the chair and not the person. So I did the new sketch after reading the background story which had mentioned the character was from a family of Magic.
I did the partial profile and the outstretched arm, trying to channel my inner Ironfist, and the rest of the sketch just flowed. Thankfully this version made my client happier. As I said earlier I was completed surprised by this request, if it hasn't been mentioned before I believe my client as well is in a wheelchair, and I wanted to do him justice.
I was extremely proud to have done this piece, because the character is all about NOT being handicapped. I was sent a link to look at Martial Artists in wheelchairs, and from there I found several of my own. I wanted to incorporate the energy these incredible people have...
And I think I got close... this was definitely a challenge. How to make a hero, heroic when they weren't wearing symbols or costumes or fighting crime. But as we know, real life heroes are better than anything we can make up.
I hope your friend likes it as well. -
Quote:I've got a new commission in the works, and I'd really like some helpful critique on it. If some of you could oblige, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
I think the bottom foot on him looks too rounded. Perhaps if you showed both feet together. My other suggestion was to draw one leg out and bent under the girl, but that would ruin your silhouette... love the hand outstretched by the way...
I was going to say move his arms, but that would ruin your entire composition. Her head seems a little large though, I would lasso that in Photoshop, make sure you have a white layer under it, and then hit ctrl + T, hold shift and size her down just a touch. -
Glad you like him, JG... he was a challenge this morning, for the life of me I couldn't get started right, and I did 2 versions with complete mistakes everywhere... sorry didn't save them, finally I said, f-it, I'm gonna start over... and the rest is history.

Pencil Sketch is HERE...
Apologies Chris, but I am exhausted, and my eye has been blood red for 24 hours... my hand is cramping, and I believe this is a good sign to call it quits for the night.
I did finish your sketch though, and will color her up first thing tomorrow at 8am... Gonna push the snake envelope with her. And I'll have to take some armor screens to get that pattern right, what I threw on there was to give me a breakdown of what to include.
Anyway bright and early tomorrow!
Also taking a day off after Chloe to do one of the other Summer Sale commissions, but will be back on Sunday with another 2, hopefully 3...
Night folks...

Here's my latest request one... it's larger than full size 600 x 120, but then the owner can reduce it how he likes, I'm just showing it off here. Hey you cut out 8 toons, you want them to be seen... I have a version with full bodies, but they wouldn't be very recognizable in a reduced version.

Quote:lol same way you'd have the regular picture in there. I just used the image tags on my signature while editing it.
I wanna maybe center it and have a photo link on either side of it if i can...
I know i saw somewhere how to do that...
So the banner is already animated, and you just linked it... *places TA in chair for requestioning...* once again, HOW, did you animate the banner?! TELL US!!! -
