((Oh hell, that was a really elaborate, well-typed out death scene (or knocked unconcious moment!) Let's see if Grahn notices... -snickers- And HEY! I actually enjoyed reading Doomtastic's romps through the streets!))
-
After the cataphract fell down, Breaker riding it all the way to the ground, the Assault Bot stood up, blocking the shot of the hypercannon aimed at Dr. Mechan.
-The cannon fired, and Breaker heard it, looking right into the blast...-
His massive body absorbed every ounce of energy that was fired from the cannon; his circuits overloading from the sudden influx; his optics popping out of their sockets with loud, popping and fizzing sounds. Breaker's explosion rocked the room, but it didn't stop Mechan's Warbots, nor the Doctor himself.
The Warbot trio didn't hesitate, charging forward at full speed after Breaker took one for the team. They would approach one Longbow Mech, tear out its knees, and smash the rest of it into a giant bundle of junk.
Fixer and Functionary simply changed targets, sniping the bombs first, then aiming for the Mechs.
Dr. Mechan extended the shielding, blanketing the other two Masterminds in the room with a giant bubble. The tear-gas canister and the twin cannon blasts simply pinged off the shields.
Dr. Mechan then tapped into his wrist pad. "Accessing C:\\mainframe\droids\Assault" flashed across the tiny screen. "Breaker, get your pistons back over here pronto," the Doctor ordered. With that, a giant box suddenly dropped in, right next to Mechan. The box would seem to unfold to the rest of the group when it actually transformed into the massive Assault Bot called Breaker. After the box had changed into Breaker, Dr. Mechan tapped the wrist pad a couple more times, Breaker getting his standard field upgrades.
The newly arrived Breaker procured his own upgrades from the battle field remains, picking up a rod that slid out of a piston from the cataphract's remains. "I'm gonna BREAK EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM." the electronic voice boomed, echoing throughout the room. -

"Probably." Nightshade's voice came over the comm channel. "We're on our way to reinforce your position now, the device was not in our section of the building. Tag anything important before it can be damaged and then terminate all hostiles."
And the 'probably' turned into a 'yes.' The command to open the door had apparently ben very short, and Dr. Mechan's drones, while able to react instantly, found their long-range weapons to be less instantaeous. The Spec-Ops fell, finger trailing against the last button as the blast door opened. A cataphract stepped from the darkness, and suddenly the drones found an air bomb heading their way, and Dr. Mechan was looking down the wrong end of the machine's massive back-hyper blast cannon.
[/ QUOTE ]
Dr. Mechan seen the most massive, incredibly powerful cannon on the back of this robot that he had seen ... ever.
"Breaker! Blast that cannon off its back!" the Doctor roared across the channel dedicated to his robots.
Without missing a beat, Breaker immediately let loose another salvo of missiles, again with the dual-plasma blasts following behind. Neverminding the cannon just now exploding, Breaker leapt forward, plotting the trajectory as he went, attempting to land on the things shoulder.
Functionary and Fixer both had lock ons on the robot, firing repeatedely, no matter if it did damage or not, they were more probing for weak points in the giant robots armor. Functionary let out two seeker drones, while Fixer, still taking a knee, kept firing with the heavy laser, blasting away.
Mechanoid, Mechaloid, and Mechazoid scrambled, diving out of the bomb's way. Their shielding was up, but they still didn't want to test it's limits from a direct blast.
Dr. Mechan's shielding absorbs the majority of the blast, while his mechanized armor, somewhat limited at the moment, protects the rest. The infinitesimally small picobots that run through his body would repair any other damage, while slightly larger nanobots would assist in repairs and add armoring to the Doctor's mechanical body.
Dr. Mechan quickly ran over to the generator, tagging it for a teleport lock on.
"Let's see if this really IS the source of this thing's power," Mechan mumbled. "Warbots! Tear out this things KNEES, NOW!" he shouted again over the dedicated frequency. -
Just as Dr. Mechan finished telling Breaker to leave the generator alone, he spotted the Spec Ops solider decloak, heading for a terminal by the massive blast doors.
"Breaker, please kill him," the Doctor ordered of the Assault Bot. "I'll see about getting you the generator."
Breaker's optics went wide as the Doctor said this, turning his head around and targetting the Spec Ops soldier.
The Warbots spotted the Spec Ops guy as well, each one of them falling back, laser rifles in hand, and opening fire.
Breaker simply let loose a volley of swarm missiles, then incendiary missiles, followed up with a one-two punch of double plasma bursts. Then, he closed to melee range should the Spec Ops have survived that onslaught, ready to smash the man's head in.
Dr. Mechan got back on the comms. "We're dealing with a Longbow tapping at some terminal, next to some bay doors," he reported. "Giant robot behind those doors, I assume?"
Fixer took a knee, again his shoulder mounted heavy laser rising up out of its hidden compartment, letting loose its energy blasts, as Functionary kept the repairs going, his repair-arm staying lit green. -
[ QUOTE ]
"Leave the generator intact, we don't want anymore attention while we're here. Just search the room for any large and bulky machines. Anything bigger than a computer terminal." Nightshade's voice said.
That's also when the Longbow Spec-Ops decloaked as he rapidly tapped on the controls for the giant blast door set into the right-most wall...
[/ QUOTE ]
((OOC: Are the Longbow Spec Ops decloaking in the lab with Dr. Mechan, or wherever Nightshade and Mechanomorphic are? Wasn't all too sure with that, which is why I ask...))
Dr. Mechan ordered his bots to begin the search immediately, as Nightshade described what they were looking for. "Any type of machine larger than a computer terminal," Dr. Mechan's electronic voice crisp and clear as to the targets. "Tag anything useful with a transport beacon, the base will instantly teleport it away to safe storage."
The three Warbots saluted Dr. Mechan in unison, quickly beginning their search.
Fixer and Functionary kept the shields up on the group, staying close to Dr. Mechan.
Breaker was mesmerized by the giant generator, for some odd reason. "Boss, this is a machine," the Assault Bot quipped. "Let me tag it! PLEASE!" Breaker pleaded, throwing his arms down, almost to his mechanized knees. This was the closest Breaker ever got to downright begging. "This thing could power the base for ... centuries!"
Dr. Mechan smirked at Breaker's little 'tantrum-dance'. "Orders were clear, Breaker...leave the generator alone." -
Alright, that's it. I've had enough of this [censored]. Time to take over the WORLD! BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Hey, look! There's another flying hero! Shoot 'em down!
What? Arachnos is invading Paragon again? Not now, Springer's on. -
If you hop into a RP thread, make sure your character doesn't use out-of-character knowledge.
Use some form of bracketting such as ((OOC: OOC stuff here.)) if you need to discuss things out-of-character with the other players in the RP thread you're in.
Introducing your character, you can always use this time to describe your character's appearance.
You don't always have to describe your character while RPing, unless someone new shows up, which it might be polite to describe your character again.
Any backstory for your character, you can use depending upon the situations while RPing.
There are other general rules about roleplaying, which other people here can elaborate upon in greater detail than I can. -

Breaker stepped into the office/lab first.
"Doctor, there's equipment inside here," Breaker sent through his encrypted and secured comm-link with Dr. Mechan.
The rest of Dr. Mechan's fleet followed Breaker inside, swarming around the giant Assault Bot. Following them, Dr. Mechan stepped in, and then he received the comm message from Nightshade:
[ QUOTE ]
"Keep a look-out people, Longbow tried to spring some two-story robot on us in one of these rooms, we nailed them before they could activate it. This thing looks nasty, if there are more of them, be on the lookout for longbow trying to turn em on."
[/ QUOTE ]
Dr. Mechan sent back a reply, the monotone, electronic voice crystal clear with each word: "This is Mechan. Office space opening up into a lab here, with a giant generator in here. Some miscellaneous equipment off in an corner. Should we leave the generator intact or destroy it? Over," Dr. Mechan asked. -
As Fixer and Functionary finished repairs on Breaker and their three brethern, the Warbots, they repaired one another as Longbow mini-gunners ran out to replace the Ballistas.
Breaker simply fired a salvo of Swarm Missiles, to disorient and scatter the newly arriving forces of Longbow.
The Warbots took up positions in the hallway, firing their heavy laser blasts towards the incoming troops.
Fixer and Functionary renewed the shielding around Breaker and the Warbots, and Dr. Mechan stepped forward, applying several new shields to the Protector's variety. He wanted the Protectors to start firing as soon as possible.
((BTW - did Catsi's character really smash into the building where Dr. Mechan and Co. are? No clue. Also, if Dr. Mechan's bots are able, they will "eliminate" fallen targets every chance they get, before said targets medi-porters kick in. It's on auto ctrl+click))

The first ballista deftly avoided Breakers attacked and counter-attacked with a tank-cracker punch from the side.
The second had finally had too much, between being shot in the head and tossed around like a rag down he fell to the ground and whimpered, stunned.
[/ QUOTE ]
The second downed Ballista, being stunned, would be shown no mercy by the three Warbots, each of them retracting their claws, pulling out their heavy laser rifles, then encircling the doomed Ballista.
Dr. Mechan ordered the three Warbots: "Fire." The heavy laser bursts would incinerate the man's head.
Breaker had his own problems. The Ballista had dodged the hammer-slam, rearing back to take a shot at the massive Assault Bot. Breaker was in no position to retaliate, and at the exact moment the Ballista's fist slammed into Breaker, his chest compartant fired a single, plasma blast into the Ballista.
Unlike the man, Breaker kept his ground, retracting the hammer hands in order to unleash a dual plasma burst from his palms. Breaker would follow this up with a salvo of incendiary missiles, from his shoulder mounted missile rack.
Both Functionary and Fixer moved forward, lighting Breaker up with repairing beams of energy. -
Mysterious! I LIKE it!
I'm not just saying that, either. I really do like it. -
((OH man, I just read some of the backstory for Paragon City... from what I've read on the historical plaques in-game, I knew that Dr. Webb broke through the dimensional barrier in 1988. Well, with what I've just read, I'm sitting here going -Whew!- Yeah, Portal Corp started around 1984, and then the whole 1988 thing...turns out, Dr. Webb's wife had the company tied up in court until 1998. Ok, date is all cool. Damn this might actually be complicated!
Anyway, more to follow.)) -

In the meantime, you can catch more action with Dr. Mechan in the Debunk((Open RP)) thread. I do need to add more to this story, because if you run over to the open RP, you'll be scratching your head! Update coming soon, hopefully either tomorrow or Tuesday, but I'm not making any promises!))
[u]Chapter One Voyages[u]
Graduation Night M.I.T
June 15th, 1999.
They looked at their son, a newly graduated doctor, of all things. He had walked off that stage, so proud, holding the doctorate in his hand as if it were an Olympic gold medal. They were happy for him, after all his hard work, all those late night study sessions. Not to mention the fact that he held down two jobs while achieving his dream. Finally, he had made it happen, and there he was now, walking towards them and the family car, ready to go home.
Elias Matthews strode towards his parents, very much relieved that it was finally over. They stood next to the car, waiting, smiles on their faces. Their eyes couldnt hide their relief, as he knew they didnt have to work so hard anymore. After achieving a doctorate from M.I.T in quantum mechanics, a whole new world had been opened to Elias. Just a few weeks before graduation, one of Elias many resumes had been picked up and looked over by the right person. He would be working at Portal Corps, a company based out of Paragon City, Rhode Island. It was the chance of a lifetime, one that he couldnt pass up for the world, and one that could change all their worlds. For now, though, he had time to spend with his family, and his friends time to catch up with his best friend, Doug, who had gone to community college, graduated, and was now working in civil service with a wife and a kid on the way.
The trip back home to Boston was, well, boring. His parents kept saying how proud they were, how excited they were for him about starting his new job. He kept reminding them that he was only just starting out, that he would have to work even harder to work up in the company, a better position just wasnt going to be handed to him. Still, no matter how boring the ride was, it was nice to be going home after all those years in college.
Finally. After Dad parked the car, Elias went in the house, and ran straight up to his room. The room was untouched, the mechanized models of his youthful imagination still littered the room, and one of them stood out from all the rest: His robot, which was actually running at the moment.
Bzzzt, hello, Elias, the tiny construct blipped out. Welcome home.
Hey! Shorty! Did I leave you turned on all these years? Elias asked the robot. Coulda swore I turned you off before I left. Did mom and dad take good care of you?
Beep, beep bzzzt, yes Elias. They took good care of me, the robot held up his arm, the piston raising the frame up for Elias to inspect. They shined me bzzzt bzzt up, and turned me back on before they left to pick you up.
Oh, hey, yeah they did a good job on that, Elias said, inspecting the shined up arm. I really need to give you a shell to protect all your parts, Shorty! See this smudge here? Youve been climbing on things again, havent you Shorty?
Breep, bzzzt yep, sure have, the electronic voice chirped out. Ya caught me, breep, bzzzt! Just wanted to get a good look out the window.
Well, ok then, Elias amusingly replied. Hey, I know, how bout I fix that little glitch in your vocal processors before I do anything else?
Beep! That would be great! the tiny robot almost seemed excited at this prospect.
Elias knelt down, dragging out his old toolkit from beneath his bed. Its amazing the rooms untouched,- he thought, as he dug through the toolkit, examining its contents. Surely his dad wouldve borrowed a tool or few while he had been gone, but amazingly, everything was still inside. He pulled out the ol soldering iron, and remembered the day he had completed Shorty
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The tiny robot buzzed to life, the gears whirring as it stood up from its hunched over, resting position. Its tiny arm raised up, the piston giving a slight hissing sound as it extended the arm up to offer the hand in greeting to Elias. Elias shook the robots hand, smiling as he did so.
Greetings, Elias, the mechanical being said. Activation complete.
Good, good, the young boy said. Now, follow me to the kitchen. I gotta show you to Mom!
Elias walked over to the door, opening it up. The robots legs thumped a little heavier on the ground then his feet did, but not enough to shake anything. The boy kept a slow, deliberate pace to the stairs, making sure the robot followed him. The newly created robot followed, its feet functioning just fine, although the pistons for his joints still let out slight hissing sounds (almost as if Elias had taken the closing pistons off several storm doors to use for the robot.) The boy walked down the stairs, one step at a time, still making sure the robot could follow him, which it did with flying colors. As the bot made it down the stairs, the boy took off full steam towards the kitchen, knowing his new creation would make it there just fine.
He barreled into the kitchen, hollering, Mom! Mom! HEY MOM! as he entered. You gotta see this!
Mrs. Helen Matthews stood in the kitchen, on the phone, when Elias bolted into the room. Elias! Cant you see Im on the phone? her voice was flustered as she responded to the child.
Elias was stopped dead in his tracks at this. Sorry Mom! he apologized to her, looking back to see how far the robot had come. He looked back into the kitchen after seeing the robot wasnt even halfway to the room, as she grabbed the sprayer at the sink and began washing some dishes.
Yeah, so you know, Elias just came running in here, nearly made me jump right out of my shoes, she said to the person at the other end of the phone. I dont know! He said something about looking at something. Maybe hes made a new gadget thatll do these dishes for me! Her statement put a thought into Elias head. Hey, I need to find something to waterproof EM-7 with! This thought then prompted Elias with, Hey, I need to give EM-7 a better name!
The boy had, by this time, walked into the kitchen, sitting on a stool at the island counter in the room. His mom kept chatting on the phone, not paying much attention to Elias.
Then, the tiny, mechanical construct of the boys imagination and mechanical skills walked into the room.
Greetings, Mrs. Matthews, the robot said, as it walked around the counter towards the woman at the sink. Oh, youre on the phone, excu .. before the robot could finish the sentence, Mrs. Matthews began screaming, finally hearing someone else in the room, thinking it may be an intruder. As she turned around to confront her imaginary attacker, sprayer still in hand, water from the sprayer hit the unprotected circuits of the robots speech and vocal processors, shorting out some of the pathways. [i]Bzzzt, beep, blip! Blip blip blip![i] came from the robot simultaneously with MOM! NOOOOO! Turn the water off, Mom! Elias yelled out at his mom.
Sorry, sorry! No, were all ok. I think. I need to let you go, Mrs. Matthews said. She quickly turned off the water as she hung up the phone. Oh sweetie! I am SOOO sorry, she said, looking over at her son, her eyes tearing up. I thought someone was sneaking up on me! her explanation did little to smooth things over with Elias.
Jeez, Mom, I worked very hard on EM-7 here! the boy nearly screamed out at his mom. He looked over the tiny robot, seeing that only the circuit boards for speech and voice seemed to be damaged. The boy began to calm down a little bit now. EM-7, respond, the boy commanded the robot.
Bzzzt, breep, blip blip EM-7 is breep blip functional Elias BZZT!
Ok, good, the boy sighed in relief. Mom, this is EM-7. See! Isnt it amazing! the boy smiled widely, his teeth clenched together tightly. I made a robot, Mom! Oh, and since I was just thinking about it, thanks Mom! I can give him a better name than EM-7!
Oh, really? his mom asked, a little bit puzzled. So, what is its new name? now she was smiling.
Well, when a circuit gets hit by water, it gets damaged! Well, EM-7 here, his new name is Shorty, because some of his circuits have been shorted out. EM-7, accept new designation: Shorty, the boy once again commanded the robot.
Breep, blip! Blip, blip Designation inputted, blip blip! Processing. Designation, breep, bleep! changed from: EM-7 to Shorty, brzzzzt, updating systems. Systems, blip blip, updated! Designation bleep, breep change successful!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Elias put the soldering iron down, chuckling; the memory of his moms first encounter with Shorty was a bit amusing. -
When the Ballista heading straight towards Breaker got within range, and just a little too close for Breaker's own taste, the massive Assault Drone's pistoned arms kicked into high-gear, bringing the hammer hands around, in a bashing attempt on the Ballista - should the Ballista be caught by the hammer blows, there would be a thunderous clap from the whole thing.
Dr. Mechan ordered Fixer to fry the head off the fallen Ballista, then order Mechazoid, Mechaloid, and Mechanoid to attack the 3rd Ballista. The three Warbots each took their turns swiping at the agent of Longbow, and then, Mechaloid got popped square in the optic sensors.
"Hey! OW! Damn you, Longbow!" Mechaloid hollered, then dropping back towards Dr. Mechan and Functionary.
Functionary took the shot at the Ballista that had punched Mechaloid, the heavy laser blast aimed at the man's head. -
As the Ballista turned on a repulsion field and moved in, trying to bear hug Breaker, the massive Assault Bot slung his arms to the sides, as if spreading his wings and just waited for the man to get too close.
Fixer's shields had been penetrated, the crazed Ballista still flying, so the Protector bot did the next best thing he could think of - extending his gun hand to the point that the barrel of the laser pistol would be resting square between the Longbow's eyes and squeezing the trigger all in one smooth motion.
Mechazoid kept slashing at the leaping Ballista, inputting the word "Crazy" in a file in its memory banks. Mechazoid then stopped his attack after Fixer fired at point blank range at the man. Since the Drone was still standing, and not leaping like this man was, he grabbed the man by both feet, and slung him towards the opposite wall.
Mechanoid and Mechaloid closed in on the blinded Ballista as the man was blinded, slashing and stabbing with precision and speed, knocking him around like he was some sort of play toy.
Dr. Mechan decided to step forward, the repulsion field still active, pushing away the two Ballista that had closed to melee range. Fixer got up from his kneeling position and rejoined the Doctor inside the field, next to Functionary, and the two Protector bots resumed firing with their heavy lasers. -
Mechanoid and Mechaloid would be getting back up by now, they, too having some claws extending from their fingertips, to engage in CQC with the Ballista charging the repulsion field.
-
((BTW - nice edit! Now it seems all the Longbow are getting hit.))
Fixer just kept firing relentlessy at the Ballista that was trying to lunge for his throat, not caring if the man's hands got a hold of him...
Functionary watched as Mechan's detention field fizzled, due to dispersion bubbles popping up from the two Ballista. On the plus side, the man's head was rocked violently backwards, meaning his shot was dead on. "Hey guys! Did you see that" Functionary's electronic voice cracked out. The Protector bot kept his eyes locked on the Ballista, however, taking note that the man was now heading straight for him.
Mechazoid's claws would sink deep into the sides of the Ballista going for Fixer, as the man was now focused squarely on the Protector bot. The dispersion field these guys threw up would take away some of the Warbots momentum, but he struck, nonetheless...pulling the claws out, he would simply keep slashing at the man until his chest no longer raised up and down...
Breaker would've been happy if he was capable of any emotion. The Ballista could almost make out a twisted, metal smile on the Assault Bot's face were the robot capable of smiling. Instead, as the Ballista threw up the dispersion field and charged for the massive, metal hunk of weaponry, Breaker's hands retracted, and two, giant hammers zipped out in their place. "Come get broken," the Assault Bot actually jeered.
Dr. Mechan actually did smile, seeing the dispersion fields nullifying his detention field, allowing Functionary's shot to get through. He almost broke out into laughter as his repulsion field DID go up, though, and the Ballista with the head-wound charged straight for the sniper-like Protector. -
((Also, the detention field went up AFTER Fixer fired his shot at the one Ballista closing to melee range, so only Functionary would waste his "sniper shot".))
-
((Detention field went around the non-dazed Ballista that Fixer had fired at, not the one Breaker was firing at. And damn, that means Functionary just wasted his shot...hahaha. Oh well, you need to fix your previous post.))
