This portion of the mission has been brought to you by KY JELLY!
-
I'd like to add a little editorial comment:
Some Blasters will have "melee" secondaries. These Blasters are nicknamed "Blappers" due to their range/melee powers.
Blappers can experience Blapperlock...even if its not as effective as true scrapperlock, it's still cool as all hell. Just make sure the defender is spamming heals when the Blapper goes toe-to-toe with that +5 AV that you've finally reached. -
"You're the next contestant on The Price Is Right!"
-
The next mission entrance is in the blimp flying over Atlas Park.

One could argue that Inspiration use is both physical AND psychological.
Take, for instance, blue inspirations - during a fight, a character could be attacking soooo much, that said character begins to get tired - when suddenly, the opponent does something stupid, makes a mistake, leaves an opening the character takes notice of - and the character takes this opportunity to catch a breath...some sort of break in the action can also allow for this.
Physical objects such as gems/scrolls/potions/injectors can also explain the use of "Inspirations".
Either way, I'd have to say any "Inspiration" used in roleplay would be a)character-dependent and b)situational-dependent. -
Fixer and Functionary would approach the other two masterminds laying on the floor, offering assistance.
"We can mend your wounds," they both said, simultaneously.
Breaker watched as Valkyrie's mediporter kicked in and her fallen body was whisked away. "DAMMIT!" the Assault Mech bellowed.
The Warbot trio encircled Breaker, as if the four of them might find themselves in another battle incredibly soon.
All the while, Dr. Mechan had been using an improvised cutting laser built into his rifle to open the cell door the cat had led him to. -
Destroy Paragon, kill the Grand Pubah!
-
Dr. Mechan looked down at the cat, the furry creature pawing at the door now.
"Yeah, sounds like a buncha gibberish to me," he said, his auditory sensors capable of picking up the singing, clearly, even through such a cell door. It wasn't the only thing he picked up, either ... some psyonic mumbo-jumbo was going on in there too. "Well, so long as she understands," he says, pulling out his pulse rifle. "You might want to tell her to stand away from the door..." he lifts the rifle up, pointing it at the door, finger on the trigger and ready to blast away at it. -
Breaker dodges the beam, just barely enough to be a tad bit ticked off at the woman. The spear was it's source, which was quite odd.
Breaker swung his hammered hand back around, the hammer smashing into the woman's blade, still pointing at the robot. The clash of impervium upon whatever steel Valkyrie's blade is made of rings out through the hallway with a thunderous clash.
The force exerted by Breaker's arm was enough to send Valkyrie off balance, giving Breaker the time he needed to smash her in the back with his hammered fists. -
Dr. Mechan looked at the cat as it spoke. British accent. Captive in this building. A repayment of some sort. All these things clicked through the cybernetic beings neural net in instances too quick for the human mind to coherently comprehend.
All he knew was - whoever was being held in a cell in this place, definitely wasn't with Longbow or any other hero group. Said individual was definitely someone not to be trifled with, either. Freedom Corps and Longbow would consider such a person to be a most extreme threat. Before the cat could even lunge off the device, Dr. Mechan motioned at it.
"Since you can apparently pass through objects with relative ease," the Doctor's raspy, electronic voice began, "You will get to help us out as well. Whoever is being held within this cell of yours, is most definitely going to work off this debt."
He turned, following the cat into the hall, taking notice of Breaker and the crew dealing with Valkyrie in quite an amusing fashion. He wasn't holding his breath too long, though ... he knew things could go south in an instant.
"By the way," Dr. Mechan said to the cat, "Your friend is going to have a LOT of things to do before this debt will be considered repaid." -

The attacks launched at her simply splashed off or had no effect on her amazing armor and its accompanying nano-bots. She kicked Mechanomorphic in the gut, sending him into the wall while she turned to engage the new horde of enemies. She charged Breaker, sword drawn and glowing with a hellish amount of firepower. From the scene about, she had already ruined two mastermindsÂ’ days almost effortlessly, and the look on her face showed she expected a repeat performanceÂ…

Breaker didn't just stand there and watch Valkyrie charge him - his hands once again changing into those massive, impervium-hammers, swinging those massive arms to the sides - but instead of charging at the lady bound for Valhalla, he stood his ground, and waited for her.
As she got within range, no doubt about to swing her sword, the pistons within his arms gave out a hellish hissing sound, the Assault Bot's hands coming together, each hammer connecting with her sides, sending her crumpling to the floor.
"Go ahead, get back up so I can break you in proper," Breaker said, already swinging one hammer hand in an uppercut motion to send the warrior woman flying backwards. What she didn't see was the other hammer hand swinging downwards at the same time, bearing down on her head with an incredible, impacting, thudding sound.
Fixer, Functionary, and the Warbot trio kept their barrage of heavy laser blasts going, repeatedly firing at the woman, not letting up one bit. Fixer through out a couple of seeker drones before Breaker had engaged, giving them a very slight advantage at the moment, but he wasn't relying on that.
Functionary would throw out a couple more seeker drones mid-fire, when he could get a chance.
The Warbots, upon seeing Valkyrie crumple to the floor from Breaker's hammering blows, close into melee, each of them swiping with their claws, jabbing and stabbing at her.

The kitten strode past the battle in the hallway, bits of debris falling through it and wandered into the Lab. It looked briefly around the room before hopping on top of what seemed to be the center of some very intense scrutiny and simply said. "Hello there."
[/ QUOTE ]
Dr. Mechan looked at the top of the device, having heard something say hello. "O.K., odd, but not that strange," he said, rubbing his metallic chin with his mechanical claw hand. The scrapping noise would be horrific to anything with sensitive ears.
"Tell me you're not with Longbow, and you get to live," he simply said to the cat. "Make it quick, too, 'cause my robots are out there in that hallway right this very instance, fighting of all people, Valkyrie..." -
Mechazoid sent a message via commlink back to the Doctor.
"Breaker, Fixer, Functionary, you guys get out there now," he commanded of the rest of his bots. Before they took off, he made sure to shield them best he could.
The Doctor turned back to the device, studying it intensly. Any panels on it, he would find, and then proceed to open them up. He would also search for any form of monitor linked to the device, as well as some sort of input device like a keyboard or something even more ridiculous.
To hurry this up a bit, Doctor Mechan discovers a way to turn the machine off without causing any undue damage to the machine. He then blasts a piece of the floor away, the schematics helping him discern where not to fire at. So long as he could get under the flooring panels and unplug the device, they'd be good to go.
Out in the hallway, the Warbots, now shielded again upon the arrival of the Protectors, unleash their claws and keep Valkyrie targetted.
Breaker, also shielded once again thanks to the Doctor and the Protectors, had Valkyrie in his sights as soon as he arrived, and unleashed a swarm of missiles at the hero and her group, then another salvo of incendiary missiles. After the missiles are away, he raises his arms up, firing dual plasma bursts at the hero.
Fixer and Functionary fire upon any remaining Longbow troops that tagged along with Valkyrie, only targetting Val should the Longbow be detected as "passive" from their bioscanners. -
Dr. Mechan accessed Functionary's files of the building, with no apparent physical contact of the robotic minion.
The Doctor's own neural network had established a link with the Protector, pulling up the schematics instantly, his mind pouring over the documents. There'd be very little information, if any at all, stored on a public access terminal about this device. However, Dr. Mechan could discern some variations that would have to be made due to the size of the device.
((Now, does this device go beyond this floor, or is it just limited to this floor? UGH - I keep thinking we're not on the ground floor - but from all the posts, none of us have really gone up to even the second floor! Hahahaha. Oh well. There's still a basement, and if this thing is built INTO the ground ... well it could extend down into the basement...)) -
((Just so you know, I fixed the previous post.))
Functionary ran over to the Doctor, newly acquired information now stored in his neural net. Fixer had also just finished up with the last of the tags, what little they could scavenge from the site would have to do.
The Warbots entered the hallway, and rounded the corner... -
Dr. Mechan turned his head around in a three-hundred sixty degree turn, effectively facing Cassie now.
"I have no idea why he needs this device," Dr. Mechan told her. "However, it's our primary target, and the only reason why we're here. So, let's get to work!"
((OOC: Edited accordingly. Had to backtrack to the first post when I originally made this post, so I got a bit confused. Wasn't sure if your trio would've told anyone or not. Apparently not.)) -
This is a collection of interviews from a few of the Zig's more recent inhabitants. This first one is a video interview. The footage appears like what you would see on those cop shows, from a corner angle, peering down over a small table with a cop on one side and the suspect on the other.
"O.K., Miss Gina Wilkins, where were you on the night of June 2nd, 2007?"
"That day? I was in a Crey Laboratory. That night, I was back on the streets."
"How, exactly, did you get out of that Crey facility?"
"I killed every...single...one of them..."
"With what again, exactly?"
The woman places her hands on the table, the cuffs keeping them on her side of the table. An audible -SNIKT- is heard.
"With these..."
"How, again, did you get those claws?"
"I was born with them. Which is why I ended up in that Crey lab."
"Ok, Miss Wilkins, retract the claws now."
The woman doesn't move a muscle.
"Miss Wilkins, please retract the claws, or we'll do it for you."
The fuzzy, unfocused picture can't reveal the sneer on the woman's face.
"What're you doing? Miss Wilkins, you're making a ter.....URRGH! GAHHHHHHHH!"
The video shows Miss Gina Wilkins slashing the man's throat. Further forensics of the room and of the woman reveals Miss Wilkins had cut the chain clean in two, and the video clearly shows just when she did this - right before she had slit the man's throat open, she managed to A) Dislocate her wrist B) Turn her hand around, in order to slash the chain away, and C) Slash the man's throat.
Prisoner #897245AB - Miss Wilkins, Gina; a.k.a. Feral Sister, would later escape from the Zig during a daring Arachnos break-in of the facility. She is always armed and dangerous.
These next two are simple transcripts on paper.
"Look, meatcase, I dunno what you talkin' 'bout. I wasn't there. I didn't do nothin', hear me? Nothin'! All youse cops are the same. Nab the big guy and pin everything on 'im. Iffin' I had done somethin', youse guys woulda been cleanin' up a big huge mess. Whaddya goin' on 'bout now? I dunno those people. Get yer swine-[censored] face outta mine, before I rearrange it."
Prisoner #505293F - Mr. Carter, Greg; a.k.a. Interment. After this transcript was taken, Mr. Carter was placed into solitary confinement, per protocol. It would later be discovered that Mr. Carter had bashed down the wall of the confinement cell, the power nullifier of the cell apparently having no effect on Mr. Carter. It is assumed that Mr. Carter has fled to the Rogue Isles.
"Hey, look, I had to do something. I mean, they were beating up my friends, threatening my family, you know? Then my brother shows up - my brother! They shot him dead...you guys know this already, hell, you were THERE at the scene! I gutted them...filleted them like fish...they had no more right to live, in my mind! Wait for the cops? Are you kidding me? My brother was already dead! No way in hell was I waiting, man. Oh, now what? Hey, look, the cop was pointing his gun at me. Not like I killed him or anything, what with the police having their own mediport network. So he'll have a little scar now. Hey! No way man, no way! I didn't kill those little girls! No way in hell. One of your own did that man. Jewelry heist? Jeez, what is it with you people? Why would I go from killing, to suddenly robbing joints? You've got it all wrong, man..."
Prisoner #721989W - Mr. Jones, Samuel; a.k.a. Anzio. Mr. Jones has since hitched a ride on an Arachnos transport ship, during yet another one of their daring break-ins to the Zig. His whereabouts are currently unknown. -
Dr. Mechan looked at the two minions haphazardly trying to cut at the TMS (Acronyms! YAY!)
"Cease all actions," the Doctor bellowed out, at an incredibly high decible level (advantage of having a volume controlled voicebox!) "You're going to damage the device beyond repair if you continue. Anyone have any schematics on this building? We're going to have to deactivate and detach this device from its powersource, and quite possibly from the foundation of this building." he said this to Cassie and the General.
"Functionary, find an access terminal and pull up all schematics of this place. Fixer, tag whatever's left and get back over here. Warbots!" Again, his electronic voice shouted, but at a lower level. "There's been no comm activity from Nightshade or Mechanomorphic. Go out into the hallway and find out what's going on, immediately."
Each of Dr. Mechan's robots immediately began their duties, Breaker the only one returning to Dr. Mechan's side.
Dr. Mechan then looked over towards Cassie after she asked what the TMS was.
((Ok, Paradigm, what, exactly, is the TMS? Dr. Mechan is going to try and explain right ... now.))
"The Temporal Mapping System (TMS) is like a ... navigation system for the timeline. It can also be used to plot out the timeline in advance ... call it a future predicting machine, if you will."
((Of course, I the player am only speculating on this. However, Dr. Mechan, the character, would have a completely better grasp as to what this thing really is.)) -
((Dr. Mechan and Co. brought their own 'port taggers, but of course, these are for far smaller objects than the one in question.))
Breaker would be smiling right now if he could. He walked over to the massive generator, slapping one of the Doctor's teleport tags on it, and -WAZZAH- it was gone.
Fixer finally stood up, beginning to look around. "Dr. Mechan, over here," the Protector series bot motioned for the Doctor. "What, exactly, is a Temporal Mapping System?" it asked.
"That, Fixer, would be our main objective," Dr. Mechan said, his eyes widening upon seeing the device.
Dr. Mechan switched over to the team's frequency. "Objective is here. Might have a bit of problem extracting it, however," he sent out. "Got some kind of extraction and exit solution? Over," the comm device clicked off. -

"Hey, Recluse ol' buddy! How's it going? Hey, wanna come on over to Paragon for a beer?"
Are you kidding me?
"No, seriously, there's this new strip club that JUST opened up over here! Man you gotta come over."
Oh really? Ok then, let's go.
"Just make sure you bring Ghost Widow. We can get in for free!"
Oh, you're just saying that 'cause you've had a crush on her ever since I hired her.
"Well, yeah...thought she might like to get up on stage...there IS a contest going on, too!"
Plus, we're gonna need a designated driver.
"Oh yeah! Almost forgot about that. Waitaminute...I'm STATESMAN! I can get away with ANYTHING, including a DUI!"
-A facepalm is heard in the receiver.-
Fine, fine. I'll see if she wants to come along. Mind if I bring a couple of my new friends? They're just dying to rob a couple of those banks over there.
"SURE! Bring 'em. Maybe they can catch up with us after they're done."
Ok then. See you at 7?
"Definitely. I'll be where I'm always at, at the docks in Independence Port."
Ok, I'll see you there. Of course I'll be in the standard Arachnos submarine. This time, STAND back from the edge when I surface!
"Alright! See ya later."

The Longbow Mechs were weaker than their larger counterpart, and began falling one by one, which is when the remaining cloaked Spec-Ops in the room panicked. No less than ten decloaked suddenly.
They were all throwing EMP grenades at the drones.
[/ QUOTE ]
Before anything could happen, however, Breaker was already rushing forward, the giant rod in his clawed hand swinging through the air, dropping a couple of the mechs on his own, before the Spec Ops soldiers decloaked.
Mechanoid, Mechaloid, and Mechazoid, all still shielded, heard the familiar pop of EMP grenades going off, each one shrugging their shoulders as this happened.
The Spec Ops soldiers would only stand there in a daze, seeing the three drones of Dr. Mechan's unfazed by the grenades.
The Warbot trio unloaded a volley of heavy laser blasts into the Spec Op squad, mowing them down with relative ease.
Breaker had turned around after hearing the all-too-familiar popping sounds of the EMPs going off, now targetting and swatting at whatever remaining Spec Ops were left. Their mediporters would start zapping the Longbow cretins to the hospital, but only if Breaker hadn't smashed any of their mediporters while smashing them.
Dr. Mechan turned to the other mastermind, her robots being effected from the EMP burst. "I didn't get a doctorate from M.I.T. in quantum mechanics for nothing," he said, his mouth grinning with a twisted, metallic gleam to it. "You've probably never heard of me, and I like it like that. Dr. Mechan is what the people of Paragon City fear me as," he introduced himself to the General and the girl. "Longbow actually thinks I'm stupid enough to not shield my minions from their EMP grenades...hmmphh..."
