  3. That is a very good guide. I reached lvl 50 a little bit after i6 came out, and thus don't have as jaded view as some of the pre-regen nerfing.

I picked up MoG when I could at lvl 38. I played with it for almost a month, hating every second of it. I accidentally toggled it on during a fight with an AV.... Personally I call it MoBD - Moment before debt!

MoG: if you are fighting at Heroic (at lvl 38) Get this power! It means you are playing like a doof and you can herd all the baddies trigger it, and AoE them to death.

YOU SHOULD NOT BE PLAYING HEROIC AT LEVEL 38!!!!!!

If you play invincible, especially against, Carnies or Nemesis, you will not last long.

Spines/Regen is still my favorite build, however, I added some different teammate helping and self helping powers toward the end of my build.

Note: I don't have build-up in this current build, mostly because I wanted superspeed instead.

    Power Pools I took:

Leaping: Combat Jumping and Superjump - my favorite way to get around.

Fitness: Hurdle, Health, Stamina - read the forums, hurdle makes you go horizontal faster than swift. Swift is better with stealth, but I think stealth is lame - which leads to the next

    Concealment: Grant Invisibility, Invisibility....
For those of whom play stalkers - there is nothing more lethal than an invisible scrapper...sneak up, toggle off invis and unleash ripper->throw spines-> Spine burst->impale
    or whatever method you follow

I don't recommend pahse shift for a regen scrapper. If you've got yourself into that much trouble, PS will take too long to toggle on.

Speed: I picked up super-speed as a defensive measure. When I get myself into the aforementioned messes, I throw on SS and get the heck out!, also throw on invis for the added defense.
Note: I do enjoy the added speed for getting across Crey's Folly and Eden.

    Epic Set: Body Mastery

Focused accuracy tickles me pink. I love it. I have both Stamina and Quick Recovery 3-slotted, so end is not a problem.

    2 endurance problems I have:
Malta Sappers, Carnie Ring Mistresses - those are inevitable

Second power I took was laser beam eyes at 49. Why? Because most of my attacks are somewhat ranged...so I added another. Now I can get the runaways from my AoEs with

Throw Spines, Laser Beam Eyes, Impale - that should do the trick.

    Here is my build:

  4. On my way to 40 I picked up the remaining powers in the Poison set, and although I was a bit skeptical about not taking the last two powers, I have to agree with everyone else, they were rather disappointing... and aside from disappointing - they were pretty worthless with ranged attackers.

Poison Trap: I used the poison trap a few times.... it had terrible accuracy - rarely went off even when slotted with an accuracy SO, and then when it did go off, the effects were pretty mild - I'd rather pick up something more worthwhile than something that is less effective than brawl.

Noxious gas: I pretty much knew that this power would be ineffective with mercenaries, but I took it anyway, just to give it a whirl... Low and behold! It was completely useless! The way I play my mercs is that if anyone gets too close, I use paralytic poison, noxious gas, etc. and let them go to town... but it's pretty rare that anyone ever gets close enough to them for noxious gas to be effective so I now recommend to people not even bother with this power if you have mercs.

In lieu of these powers that I respec'd out - I picked up stealth to up my defense a wee bit and hide me a wee bit. Since I'm not dealing any damage, the weaken, envenom, neurotoxin, and paralytic don't seem to hold aggro nearly as much with stealth on since my pets are bright an obvious with their guns

Here is my list of disappointments:

Serum - it's faster to retrain my commando than to use the serum, and it wears off as soon as the baddies turn the heat up. If he's gonna get one-hit to death, Serum will make that last for maybe 2 hits to death. Either way I'm retraining

M30 grenade - for being a knockback AoE assault with minimal damage, it didn't knock back anyone when I needed it too - was going to try to use this for when all my pets died and I needed to make a quick escape - I don't recommend it - slug had better knockback but too much damage so now I just run like a wimp

Poison trap - see above, this power is useless

Noxious Gas - This could be useful if you have Zombies or ninjas ????

Slotting: I still keep the debuffs slotted in my guys rather than damage, it seems to kick severe [censored]....

I also put two heals in the Soldiers since when I solo (which I do quite frequently on Relentless), my Medic is my personal healer - and 2 SO heals gives him a solid heal.
  5. I've been playing my spines/regen clown for a while, been through numerous repecs, and have finally come to terms with a program of study for the spines regen scrapper.

The first recommendation i have is to plan a respec at lvl 24. I'm going to break some of the standard rules in making a great character before lvl 24, then respec them in later trading out the wasteful powers.

    Before the 24 respec:

Normally, any spines scrapper would tell you that barb swipe is a waste of time..... that is exactly why I recommend you pick it up. It wastes the enemy's time while your real attacks recharge.

I don't believe that picking up the fitness pool before 24 is wise because you sacrifice the attacks and defenses you need to stay alive. After the 24 respec, I'd wait till lvl 26 to switch out your powers, because that is when you pick up ripper, and really begin your career as a scrapper.

Okay, so some of the things i have slotted may look silly. With ED, I didn't find it necessary to beef up the powers more than 3-slotting them, so in the higher levels, I added more speed and height to some of my travel and fitness pools.

Moment of Glory...... more like moment of stupidity. You'll find when fighting paragon protectors, some will turn on Elude, and become a pain to try to kill. Others turn on MoG..... I kill them in 3 hits with ripper, throw spines, and impale. Done. They will do the same to you with MoG. It is a severe waste of a power and a complete let-down if you get it. I played with phase shift for a minute too. I found that it took took long to activate when you're really in trouble. I picked up super-speed to get me out of hairy situations.

I turn on SS when things start looking iffy. This has bailed me out of many sour situations in missions, be them in caves or in the open. I activate invis and run like hell. this typically gives me enough time to get out and dull pain or reconstruction has likely recharged before the baddies catch up if they ever do.

Focused accuracy is a must. It's normally a huge end drain. Not the case with 3-slot recovery and 3-slot stamina. I always have it on.

I was gonna grab build up at 49. I really don't like build up. It works great, but I don't like how short it lasts. I picked laser beam eyes because it is fun.

This is a great build for hunting Carnies - but don't go alone... the end drainers will drop your toggles and that turns ugly.

Revive.... so yeah, any toon will die occasionally. It's worth it to have revive because when you do die, typically when fighting an AV, as a scrapper, you're probably not the first to go down, and waiting for a healer to rez you can mean the life and death of the whole team. I love revive and use it more than I'd like to

  6. Poison/Mercs.....

Great informative guide to poisons... I wish it was up when I started. I decided to give poison/mercs a run, and I've had some great success.

I'll let you know now, my toon is only a lvl 32 atm, so I haven't played with the higher end poison powers, but...

rather than slotting my mercs up for damage, I decided to continue with debuffs.

Soldiers: 1 acc, 1 dmg, 2 defense debuff, 2 heal

I pretty much count on my medic to keep me alive when soloing... Slotting them with 2 SO heals gives a substantial heal

Spec Ops: 1 acc, 2dmg, 3 to hit debuffs

Commando: 1 acc, 2 dmg, 3 defense debuffs

as far as the rest of my build goes, I've slotted up all the debuffs to 3 SOs, 1 acc, 1 endred and I may add a recharge rate to them eventually.

I have the slogan 7 deady debuffs for my Find comment, and it holds true. I can watch the decline of damage on an enemy double after i hit them with envenom, and it progressively gets faster with my mercs hitting them. With the to-hit debuffs, i rarely have to rez my men. Despite the nature of poison - seemingly a great tool for melee minions, i've found it really compliments the debuff nature of mercs. I'll post my build with further comments once I get a bit higher.
