    RP Advice: Lore

You could go Core Clockwork, which I believe gives you a Mender and... the big boss ones. I forget the name. Builder? I dunno exactly.

  4. You can tell I'm a casual player. I take a very slow approach to the game. Doesn't matter how long it takes for me to get all my IOs and Incarnate powers, it'll happen eventually...

Though I'm growing impatient with only having one 50. I like to play a variety of characters, but with all the Incarnate Trial teams around, it means I've got significantly worse odds of getting a team with my other characters (the highest of which is 26.)

Indeed, I've been tempted by the dread AE farming. I have not given in, however!

...I should lay off the coffee and tea. Too much caffeine in me right now. I feel like my brain is vibrating. I'LL SHOW YOU WHO'S TOP DOG, MAURA...

There is nothing inherently wrong with AE. It's the overuse of AE that's a problem. Because it limits exposure to the much more awesome aspects of the game.

Chicken. If you're ever in doubt of what to eat, chicken is the answer. I love chicken.
  7. ...Perhaps you should 'proceed' with both characters. Alternate. Day job badges exist for a reason. =D

  9. Indeed. A little patience won't hurt. It's a new Issue, it'll take a little while to buff out all the problems, but pretty soon it'll be back to business as usual.

Earlier, I was really in the mood to try another Lambda run, but they were doing live testing. So what did I do? I made myself a sandwich and logged onto the forums. Then I made myself another sandwich because I was still hungry, and browsed through TVTropes a bit.

Sit back, relax, we can all bash villain faces again in no time.

    New Trials

Yeah, the new trials can't be done like a typical TF. Not easily, at least. It's more like going up against Hamidon: Everyone needs to know what they're doing, when, and it needs to be executed quickly and carefully. Everyone needs to be kept in the loop.

Of course, it can be done with an entirely random team. The clincher is just that everyone needs to know what to do. Which is why I'm never going to run one, because good god, I'd have a heart attack.

Precisely what I was thinking. Debt at level 50 just means you need to try harder! And it gives you a personal reason to bust a few more heads.

Well yeah. They're the first missions to be designed with leagues in mind. Of course they require a lot of organization, because they require a lot of people.

Really, you don't have to be that organized, though. All it seems to take is having a leader who knows what they're doing, who communicates what to do and everyone else is able to react and adapt as need be.

Oh, and lack of lag. Lack of lag would be very nice. I swear, that's what did my run in. Can't tell you how many times I got hung up on a wall...
  13. Tried my first Lambda. I'd say it went pretty well, though we did fail in the end. I'm not familiar with the 'standard' approach to it, so I'm not sure if we were under staffed or not...

But eh. I learned some things. Hopefully I'll be more prepared for the next one.

Only real problem I had was the lag, which made it hard to get into melee range and hard to reaction to the fight quickly. Made me feel ineffectual, since I died... I lost count of how many times I died.
  14. ...Want. Badly.

Ransim, you have just given me back my drive to play CoH. Which is pretty impressive, seeing as how I haven't had the drive to stand up in the last week.

EDIT: Which, I really hope means that the UI obstacle for getting Power Pools and Epic Pools customizable has been pretty much worked out... and they can get to work on doing those powers now/asap/yesterday!
    Good to know.

And I'm hoping that's the case. Extra customization is always good.

I dunno, my Regen scrapper is kind of crappy right now and I got separated due to lag (not noticing they were actually gone, too busy wondering OHGODWHAT'SHAPPENING) and lasted a good while. 'Course, being +1 and not having to deal with a War Walker made it a lot easier.

Bash, crash, smash, pummel, kick, bite, scream, maul... "...Waaaait, where is everybody? ...DAMN IT!"

Also, for the most part, leading any team is basically this...

"You know how to play your character. Go out and kill things!"

The only real choice for the leader is "Do we stealth or not?" "Do we need to pull" (which is hardly ever) and "Pull Romi to the side or rush him"
Unless you want to roleplay it, in which case it's just a matter of coming up with a creative way of saying the same thing. =P

I'd rather bring a toilet to dunk his head in when we're finished.

Y'know, I'm not the kind of person who cares about party make-up. I'd rather an ITF with six scrappers now than a well balanced one three hours later. It usually works out, as far as powersets go. It's not like I aim for master runs or anything.

The real clincher on pretty much every team I join seems to be players. Most of the time, the teams are great. ATs don't matter, we get everything done and have fun. But every now and then, an idiot joins and ruins it for everyone... Of course, sometimes that idiot is me, since I sometimes play CoH when I should really be sleeping. "Hrblrrglechaaaaaaaaaaaaarge! *dies*" is the usual result...

Pft. Dying against the Director isn't any reason to rage quit. It's a reason to rip his arms off. Interesting occurrence: He'll plant a bomb on the corpse of all defeated players. Right on top of it. Yeeeeah.

That just makes the inevitable victory all the sweeter. The one time I was on a TMTF team, after self rezzing just to explode one time too many, I declared I was going to rip out the Director's teeth. When we finally won? "I got your teeth! (string of profanity)! ...Now I feel better."

'Course, being Regen... Dying a lot doesn't faze me. And there's just something awesome about getting floored, only to get back up and keep fighting. Then going on to crush four 54 arch-villains.
  24. Heh, see, I main a regen. I don't consider constant teammate deaths to be discouraging, just annoying.

Seriously, that can't be worse than when I tried leading a Positron TF. Couldn't go five minutes without half the team dying. The only successful TF I've ever run was an ITF and that's because I had a lot of guys that already knew what to do. (I always get hung up on the second to last mission. My map bugs out and I always wind up losing track of everyone...)

Yeah, unless you're out to fight Nictus or something. Though I'd love to see her run an ITF, 'I can take a punch but BLARGIDEAD' wouldn't make that end well. =D
