I had been having trouble with black screen crashes at random moments during game play. The most likely culprit was my Nvidia GT 220 graphic card. After upgrading the power supply, adding an case fan and loading the new drivers, 197.45, I was doing great. It ran fine during the Dark Mirror beta and continued working after the live patch. I was running ultra mode with most of the bells on.
The my daughter decided she wanted to play LOTRO so I loaded it on my machine to join her. I could not even make it through the tutorial without my monitor going black. The system appeared to still be running but I could not get the video back. The only solution I found was a hard boot. I adjusted the LOTRO setting down to low still crashed in less than 5 minutes after logging on. I then started playing with my system settings. Many frustrating reboots later I am still cursing LOTRO.
Today I decided to play CoH. My once lovely gaming experience is now marked by repeated crashes. I reset the system graphics setting to factory default. I turned off Ultra Mode and set graphics to Performance but I am still crashing.
Any help is appreciated. If you need more information, just tell me how to get it as I am not very technical.
