  1. The whale's tail slammed into the M221, a blow that might have knocked a less unyielding foe to the ground, though the impact put a large dent into the robot's side. Sparks flew from now exposed wires as gray nanites oozed out to try to repair the damage.

Damaged, but not disheartened, M221 flashed brightly as its hands charged up with a powerful red energy.

"I have cleverly stopped your blow with my chest! No amount of evil can stop the Titanium Titan! This sinisiter seafood has met its match! My metal might contains the power of 12 angry oxes and a rabid badger!"

Slamming its glowing red hands into Krill Killer, an explosion of light blossomed as it transfered the energy.
  2. "Operations Log #1745: I have completed my second sweep of the streets of Talos Island, and have delivered the fires of justice upon numerous [23] Tsoo gangsters. After completion of this patrol, I activated my discretionary programming to intitiate a patrol of the beach. Weather reports are favorable and many innocent citizens shall be enjoying themselves. However, happiness leads to complacency and it would be terrible if some injustice were to fall upon the citizenry because they forgot about the littering laws."

Landing with all the grace of a dump truck, a massive figure landed upon a rock formation by the beach. Eight feet tall of brilliant blue armor, the massive hulk looked out upon the happy citizens of Paragon City. The impassive metallic face that was forged in the tradition of giant robots, two parts Gundam, one part Optimus Prime watched, scanning the crowd for those who might do wrong.

And then a giant psychic whale attacked.

It was in violation of 12 city codes, 3 state laws, and 14 federal statutes. The green diode centered on the robot's chest flashed as it sprang into action.

"Attention Citizens, this is the Mark Two hundred twenty one Cognizant Crime Fighting Robot, or M221 at your service. Please exit the beach in an orderly fashion while proper authorities take care of this situation."

Jets on M221's feet roared as it flew towards the large attacking whale. The robot's forearms were easily as huge as the robot's head, for they stored capacitors that powered the machine's attacks, and great balls of energy formed on M221's hands as it pointed at Krill Killer.

"Stand down evil doer, or be prepared to face the indomitable might of Red Hot Robot Justice!"

Cryo tried not to appear disturbed by the appearance of the Scorpion Mercenary. She garnered her own fair share of odd looks herself, and it was rude to stare.

Quickly calculating her current expenses, Cryokinetic offered her rates, "Non powered hits are two grand, everything else is dependant on the risk."

"I can freeze an olympic swimming pool--that's roughly 2,500 tons of water. Takes about an hour--and leaves me fairly tapped afterwords."

Jenkins was almost calm. Things were going well. Customers were coming in and he'd already made some tip money. As long as he remembered to do just his job, this would be easy.

That's when he felt a chill run down his spine. In fact, his entire body was getting cold. Shivering loudly, he looked around for the air conditioning controls. Probably some technomancer or cyberhacker having a go with him and he noticed a young woman--early to mid-twenties examining the notice board.

Right away he noticed her short light blue hair. Hard to tell if it was natural or a dye job in the Rogue Isles, so he shelved that line of thought. Her entire body was encased in a dark blue metallic suit with spikes off the forearms and back of the legs. A design in light blue was emblazoned on the suit's torso, but he didn't recognize it as meaningful, probably just decrative.

He took a few moments to consider it before he got out from behind the desk and approached the woman. As he approached he got felt more and more cold. Standing five feet away from the girl it was probably twenty degrees colder. She had bright blue eyes, but her face was mostly covered by a respirator that fit over her mouth and nose.

    "Can I help you?"

She jumped at his voice, and a sword of ice formed in her hand. She put her back to the wall, and the papers on the notice board cracked as they froze. Jenkins winced as it got even colder around the chick.

After a moment, the girl relaxed and the sword dissapated into vapor. The air warmed to just slightly colder than before he got out of his chair.

Her voice was young, but tinged with a hollow sound as it passed through the respirator. "Oh. Sorry. Sign said something about apartments."

    "You want one?" he offered.

"I have...special needs in terms of housing. This place up to it?"

Jenkins walked back over to his desk. "I can guess. Low temp? It costs more, but we have a couple of units. In the basement though."

    "How much?"

Jenkins listed the price, and amenities available. Not bad for a first pitch he considered.

    "I'll take it."

The Rogue Isles didn't require much paperwork, and it was done in short order. The first and last month's rent and security deposit all cleared, so he handed the keys over. Unit 0001.

"Would you like to be put on the resident listing? We can direct job offers directly to your messages. All we require is your professional name."
    "Cryokinetic."

Instead of going straight down, Cryo headed for Ruby's. As soon as she stepped into the bar, everyone could notice a temperture drop as she made her way into the dimly lit bar.

"Yes, that's me. No I can't turn it off. I can direct it at other people for a small fee though." she announced before taking a seat at the far corner of the bar.
  6. Now, this was a few years back, right around issue 7 or 8 when I farmed for Nemesis on my Brute. Used Naylor's Catch Fake Naylor mission set for 8. Took four or five hours I think. I recall thinking it was a considerable time investment.

    Energy/Kin

With Energy/Kin you should Kin first, Energy second. Off a single crowd, I'll only Fulcrum Shift once, at the beginning. Usually by the time FS recharges, there aren't enough left to get a good one anyway. The rest of Kin's debuffs are single target, so pick a guy and go nuts.

Also, I reccomend hover for sitting over their heads and blasting down. the KB will smack them into the ground and not many places else.

Using Transfusion and Transference isn't much more difficult, you just have to remember to use it, then blast. Or, Blast them, see where they go, then use it. You don't put either on Auto fire, but that seems a little needless anyway

Plus, with Siphon Speed, getting next to a mob to vamp it is maybe a second or two of my time. If I can't spare a second or two of my time to not die, I deserve to die.

It might require a slight of more work, but FS+Nova look pretty enough to make me forget it.

    Energy/Kin

I can't reccomend skipping Siphon Power, as Energy/Kin is a long hard road to 38, and you want as much +dmg as you can snag. After getting Fulcrum Shift you could make a case for respeccing out of Siphon Power, but on smaller groups being able to stack the dmg buff would be more handy.

I also reccomend Ghost Widow, just because its a patron pool, but with Fulcrum Shift coming up more often and providing a bigger dmg boost, Soul Drain is largely unneeded.

This is what I use. Short the purples and Luck of the Gamblers.

  9. Confirming that her onboard computer recorded the audio of the conversation, Dynamo Rose stood up and nodded at the President.

"Thank you for the candor, I'll see myself and my compatriots out."

Rose's armor charged back up as she turned to the door. She paused and took out a business card, "Oh and if you need wetwork with complete deniability or heavy handed negotiations, Here's my card."

It was always important to network.

Stepping into the hallway, Rose pulled up her map, trying to locate her companions. Getting a location ping off of Cassie's comm unit, she started to make her way in that direction.

"Got some leads from the CEO's office. I'm coming down."

Jameson started when Von Krayzee started his maniacal laughter, dropping her glass to the bar, spilling her whiskey. Her entire body trembled for a few seconds as she pulled her Rosary out of her pocket and muttered in Latin while her drink dripped off the bar.

The prayer seemed to compose her, and after a few moments, she returned the religious device to her pocket, righted her glass, and gestured for another round.

Slowly blinking as she examined her newly filled glass, Jameson seemed to have realized what had happened. Taking a drink and shaking her head, the Night Widow sighed, "Maybe my shrink is right."
  11. When the Doc had exploded in spikes, Jameson had been surprised. Which meant the booze was working, as her prescience was getting cloudy. Unfortunately, it also meant that if the Doc was going to keep exploding, she'd have to find some other place to sit before her head got pierced.

Not liking that train of thought, Jameson ordered a burger from the kitchen. Needed some food in her stomache to sop up some of that booze.

Jameson spoke at Brian, "Better to kill'em quick. You take too much time to savor a kill, the target usually finds some way to turn it around on you. Less fun, if that's your kink, but much safer. Sorry 'bout your missus."
  12. Glancing back at the ruined doorway and the desk laying in shambles next to it, Rose winced.

"Wow. You sure know how to lay a guilt trip mister"

Reaching down Rose picked up a chair that had been knocked over and righted it. the arcing lines of electricity that coated her armor faded as she sat down, modestly crossing her legs.

She considered for a moment taking off her faceplate, but decided that showed a little too much trust.

"My name is Rose O'Grady, though in my circles I'm usually called Dynamo Rose. Whichever suits you will work."

Rose quickly summarized her entire reason for being here. The missing Regens they traced back to Sedadyne. She made no mention of her employer and tried to frame her situation as if she was just concerned about her fellow black hats.

"I was coming to your office in my brazen manner, becuase I found a discrepency in funding down in Payroll. I was going to ransack your office looking for answers about who is funding the kidnapping of metahumans. Names, locations, a detailed and indexed three ring binder outlining the nefarious plot, the usual."

"I would also dearly love to know where theCyborgs and Explody Ninjas are coming from."

"Now you said, 'get back to using your warehouse'. That's either an indication that this is against your will, or a clever ploy to throw me off the scent." Shrugging, Rose continued, "I don't much care one way or another, but if you are being blackmailed I figure I could try and get you to pay me to kill the guy, so I get something out of this besides a warm and fuzzy feeling."
  13. [ QUOTE ]
"But to answer your question," she continued, turning back to him. "No, I'm about as un-scientific as you could get. Well, unless knowing exactly where to stab someone to inflict the greatest amount of pain counts as science. Biology, maybe."

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Yeah. Anatomy, Nuerology, and such all fall under Biology." Jameson said off handedly. "I know a couple of girls who took pre-med just to become better killers. On the same track, I know a few who sold their souls for the same. Science, magic, end result is the same, method probably is too. How does that quote go... 'Any piece of suffciently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic'?"

Shaking her head, Jameson finished her glass and ordered another.
  14. Jameson took the napkin, felt actual thoughts starting to bubble back into her mind and immediately winced, "Chemistry was not my strong suit Doc. I know all the vital organs and major arteries of most bipedal sentient lifeforms, but I can't even begin to fathom this..."
  15. [ QUOTE ]
That and some guy by the name of Clancy Stein, goes by 'Wrecthaus'. Either of those ring any bells?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ambling through the halls of Sedadyne as she looked for the Chief Executive's office, Rose chimed in, "One of the heroes who was ganked said that Wrecthaus was the one who took him. Payroll was was a wash, some funny money tricks with the CEO though, I'd figured I'd ask him."

Tapping the brass plate that stated she was outside the CEO's office, Rose opened the door and smiled at the secretary. "I don't have an appointment, but you're going to let me by anyway, I think."

Grabbing the Secretary's desk, Rose picked it up and threw it through the CEO's door.

Some days she loved her job.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I was always better with math and science." Doctor Von Krayzee looked at the Cybernetic Tomato and sighed. "Until recently, that is."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fifteen? Jameson tried not to look bug eyed at the Doctor. Covering her surprise with a gulp of whiskey, the blonde narrowed her glance at the Cybernetic Tomato. It looked impressive, of course that all depended on what it was supposed to do.

"Now, Doc, don't you think you're being just a bit hard on yourself? You start drinking when you're meloncholy, you'll just end up crying and depressed. That'll kill the mood of everyone you're drinking with."

Jameson looked around the bar, trying to find a lonely, morose looking sap to use as an example.
  17. ((Darn you Averick, calling me on my Gaelic... roughly, what are they drinking? or something close...))

Jameson chuckled and rasied her glass in salute to the Doctor and his fruity friend. "Bhí mé ag ól uisce beatha..."

She started chuckling self depreciatingly, "Oh Lord, that was terrible. Grandma would so dissapointed. You good with languages doc?"

    [ QUOTE ]
Someone remind me to go to Lord Recluse and complan about who ever they got in charge here"

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Ah, Oakes runs through Arbiters and Marshalls pretty quick. Its kind of the place careers go to die."
  18. [ QUOTE ]
"Well, I won the fight and used an extremely expensive weapon doing it, so drinks are on you I think"

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Works for me. Just so long as we set the precedent." Jameson walked back in and bought a round of drinks for anyone in the fight.

Taking her seat, she picked up her whiskey and started sipping once more. "Sláinte!" ((slauncha))
  19. Letting out a low whistle Jameson checked out the destruction caused by the nuclear device. To Idela she said, "Very nice. Takes all the fun out of it, but very nice."

Tugging on the sleeves of her leather jacket, Jameson checked to make sure she was mostly in one piece. Then she reached into a pocket and pulled out some pills. Swallowing some, she gagged on the bitter taste. Anti-Radiation meds were disgusting, but they did help one live longer.

"Since the losers are all dead, who has to buy the post bar fight drinks?"
  20. Jameson accepted a defensive shield from Brian as she masked her presence from the Crey forces.

She listened to Claws and shook her head, "Blah blah blah. Do you people come with a setting other than big and tough?" Jameson snarled as she stepped up behind the Voltiac Tank that dropped Claws. Then she neatly slid her blades into its sides, and dropped a poison dart into its head. the poison might kill it, or just leave it very weakened, she didn't care.

"That was a freebie, you're on your own now." Kicking the poisoned tank off the hero, she turned to the Agents. They were soft and fleshy, so much easier to kill.

Whether they wanted it or not, Jameson reached out and Mind Link'd Claws and Brian. It gave them extra perception and allowed them to access Jameson's knowledge of the immeditate future.

Tossing a smoke grenade into the crowd, the widow dissapeared in the gray smoke, the sounds of slashing and gunfire coming from the cloud.
  21. Sipping her whiskey, Jameson might have gotten up to fight some Hellions if she hadn't sensed a couple of other entities approaching. Mostly human, or they still had brains at least.

"You might as well just kill them in here." Jameson said to the four gunmen as she stood up, stretching her arms.

Satisfied with her arms, she began stretching her quads. "In about 30 seconds Crey goons are going to enter the door."

Popping her claws, the Nightwidow began to walk for the door. "Good job with the Hellions though. Real challenging kills."

Loading her poison darts, she stepped outside to observe the Hellion's approaching backup.
  22. Some folks would be satisfied upon a successful dynamic entry, stunning everyone who might have been able to retaliate.

Dynamo Rose was not. It was suspicious. Aging and portly security guards were not a feature of companies up to no good.

It was possible someone was using Sedadyne facilities without corporate knowledge, but the size of the operation made it unlikely.

Follow the money. If she could find records of payments to anybody involved in this case, then she'd know who to ask more questions too.

Pointing at an office drone, Rose demanded, "Where's payroll records?"

A stammered answer later, the brute was two lefts down at the door passed the vending machine. Punching through the door in a similar fashion, Rose found an empty workstation and synched her armor up to it.

The armor's onboard computer would hack the payroll records, find out who was being paid. the system would flag entries of names already known, including the missing regens or the short list of suspects.

While it did that, Rose looked for hard files and secret safes in the supervisor's office.

keying her comm, Rose communicated with the team, "I'm in payroll, anyone going to R&D?"
  23. Jameson nodded. It was almost exagerated enough to think that she might be trying a little to hard to placate the crazy scientist.

"Yeah. Sure Doc. My lips are sealed. Last thing I need is it getting out I was punched in the face by a giant robotic fruit. In fact, I'm going to go back into the bar and drink until I'm pretty sure I won't even remeber this ever happening."

Jameson retracted her widow blades and stepped back inside The Den. Amazing the things that happened when you stepped outside for a minute.

Observing the brutal interrogation, Jameson tilted her head in curiosity. Was that...? It was. Claws and Effect. Dangerous and brooding vigilante. Of course most of them were Darkity Dark McDarkison, big surprise. What was he doing here?

Taking a seat back at the bar, Jameson asked for a large glass and a bottle of whiskey. Over a howl of pain from the back, she asked, "So, what'd I miss?"
  24. Before she even landed on her feet, Jameson knew the next few seconds were going to hurt. Dropping prone on the ground to avoid the heavy handed swing from the robot, she evaluated the next three seconds with great care. Dodge to the left, take a gut shot, dodge to the right and get popped in the face again.

She sprung to her feet and took the jab to the gut, kicking the large cyborg to provide some space. Her right widow claw contracted as she loaded a poison dart. She aimed it at the robot when the mad scientist came around the corner.

Watching the thing stand down, Jameson sighed and rubbed her jaw. Shouldn't bruise to badly. "So I'm going to take a wild guess that this--" she gestured her head to the cyborg, "is not what was freaking you out?"
  25. When the large green and red...thing struck her, Jameson cursed again the point of being able to see three minutes into the future if it never came true...

Rolling with the blow across her jaw, the nightwidow reduced her circle of attention, focusing more attention on the guy in front of her. In five seconds, she'd have her opening.

A quick wave of her hand and a bit of psychic power would numb the thing's memory of the past 10 seconds, allowing her to get another good hit in during its disorientation.

Jumping into the air in a small backflip, she arc'd her claws out and hoped this would disable the thing.
