  1. Hmm. This specific idea has been raised many times? (link me please). Before posting this, I did a search through suggestions with the words "transfer" among other similar words only to find very little. I also read heavily upon the merge threads. I thought this would be an alternative to the debated idea without the flaw of the character names conflict. I have kept myself informed from the developer's posts on the status of such ideas. Please don't cast my idea aside too soon.

From where I stand, so far the benifits I see are players getting to play on the servers they want with the people they want, thus improving their gaming experience while the developers can earn deserved money from the users in buying such transfers, maybe further supporting their efforts and improving the service as time rolls on to rule out some of the unfair benifits to players that I will mention below, if the populations differ too much from the transfer service.

I can see some flaws with this, yes. Definately.
The one you immidiately raise is a good one. That being the potential loss of players on UK servers. I can see the damage there which may in the very long run force everyone to use this transfer feature (and buy the US version of the game) in order to be with other players which would be unfair.
Perhaps there would be technical difficulties and conflicts such as the ones they had with the the US to UK servers transfers. (That was for the early UK customers of CoH to get on their own region I believe) That earned the passport badge. My current thoughts are that the developers would leave out any transfer ideas like this for a very long time before even considering something like this, but support in the idea can help bring it to life. Maybe they will come up with an even better idea worked off of something like this.

I do still stand by my suggestion here with a firm belief it can improve the MMO experience for loyal players such as myself whom are in a similar situation. I know I am not alone in this.
Another personal note is that I have a trial account with the US servers under the same master account. I experience it as easy to play on either as long as you have bought the game for both regions and have both region's updaters.
I could play on US servers by buying the game starting a subscription on the servers. That part I would happily partake in. The problem is that the loss of 33 month veterancy and the characters I invested so much time and compassion into would be left behind. This is where this Regional Character Transfer would really work for me and I know it could for many keen players for perhaps years to come. I have the desire to continue playing this great game for a long time and I know this would greatly influence me to do so.

Please if anyone else can raise some interesting aspects for OR against this idea, keep them rolling. I am reading, cheers.
  2. I don't know if such a feature could be implemented but I simply must put it out there.

It would be really useful if we could pay/buy regional character transfers, so that players can move characters to and from US/UK servers.(E.g Freedom<-->Defiant). Perhaps once a character is transferred, they cannot be transferred again for a few months to prevent overuse/abuse of the feature. An additional benifit to this would be that characters could carry over their veterancy badges/status as well.

If the character transfers are impossible:
Perhaps just a feature to "buy" the ability to carry over your veteran status to the another region account. An example being a 30 month UK veteran could make a new char on a US server and carry over the 30 month veteran status.

Personally, I live in Australia and the US time zones would suit me much better to be on at the same time as others. Back when I bought CoH from a store shelf, I had no idea about different regions in MMOs and became a member of the UK servers. I would have to be up at unglodly times to join the peak hours of the UK servers.

I want to join my friends on the US servers and yet I don't want to leave my beloved characters behind and if I must...can I at least bring my veterancy?

What do you guys think? Can anyone else relate to this?
  3. Being able to see who is online in coalition SGs. Open a coalition window from the SG one where you see the names of all Sgs coalitioned to you. Each SG name has a "+" beside it which you can click to expand and see who is online in that SG, along with their level and archetype etc.

That would make it so much easier to see if you are wasting your time in coalition chat saying "Hey is anyone in our coalition online? Can anyone see this? We could use some help forming the Positron TF!" Makes life easier in telling how active those allies of yours are.
  4. Thanks dudes for your advice, suggestions and info. I have made my choice now and couldn't be happier.
  5. Hey thanks for the great info guys! This really helps me understand more about these two secondaries with empathy. Electricity? sounds pretty good too but i already have an electric blaster and i want to try something new. Thanks for telling me about it's advantages too though.

Both energy and radiation sound cool/useful at this point, so hopefully there will be no regrets either way i go... which is a win - win situation. If anyone else has some more opinions please go on ahead, as i still have plenty of time to decide which secondary i am using, as im waiting to use my defender with a group of my friends who can't play heroes just yet (maybe about 2 weeks until they can). So yeah - thanks for the info so far guys and any more would be excellent!
  6. The other day i created two visually identical robot defenders. I plan to use them with teams almost all the time.

I chose both of their primaries as empathy. The secondary for one is energy blasts and the other has radiation blasts.

I just can't decide which one to use! Both are cool powers and suit a robot. Radiation looks good with empathy too.

So for me it all comes down to effectiveness. Both versions of my defender are level 4 so i only know a little about the energy and radiation secondaries. Here is what i already know:

    - Energy has knockback vs Radiation with defense debuffs
    - Energy does more damage vs Radiation recharges faster

Could you guys enlighten me as to other pros (and cons) about the Enrg and Rad secondaries? I would like to know what people think of powers farther down the track that you get at later levels. Opinions on which is better and why would be great too. IF you want, you can say which seems better with a robot guy too.
