Just wanted to say thanks for the advice, everyone. Played around with the trip mine/caltrops thing and had a pretty good time of it at -1/x3, allowing me to do all sorts of AoE carnage. Blowing up the guys who made it past the caltrops worked as advertised
Previously I had been using trip mines just to set mine fields which was tedious and rarely worked well (one minion sets off four mines, etc). I was about ready to respec out of it since I rarely felt like spending what felt like a minute and a half before each fight. This has made them a lot more useful to me. Of course, I still do the "Run mines along the wall and around the corner" routine when the situation calls for it. -
Ok, I'll have to just blame my ignorance on that one. I knew of Defiance's "Attack while mezzed" properties but not it's damage boost ones. This is my first blaster I've taken past level 6 or so and so I still don't have the details nailed down and never bothered to sweat the Archetype bonus.
So, assuming it's practical, I should foot-plant a trip mine before attacking if only for the temporary damage buff. If some punk runs up to hit me and gets blown away, it's a bonus
Good to know! Up until now, I've only been using it for the "trap" aspect. -
Trip Mine
Is there a reason why this puts a +DMG buff icon into my status bar while active? And is there a way to tell how much damage it's actually supposed to do when it detonates? Adding DMG enhancements to it just increased the +DMG percentage but doesn't give a flat damage number.
From what I've gathered, you want to slot this foremost with -Recharge so you can drop a small field of them without getting bored and falling asleep. Beyond that, is it worth slotting for damage? Without the numbers, it's hard to tell.
Seems like a straight forward power but the technical aspects of it have me confused. -

Council should be returned to their pre-I3 status.
Agreed that Warriors need some love. From what I understand, the Warriors gave the Hellions the artifact that gives the Hellions their infernal powers. Assuming the Warriors didn't give away their best and only artifact, they really should stop getting beaten down all over town. Or maybe they should ask the Hellions for their artifact back and move to Galaxy City.
Or maybe they're afraid to ask the Hellions for it back -
Quote:The clipboard is used for shots in the character costume creator. CoH doesn't recognize the Print Screen button there and so won't make a jpg for you but Windows recognizes it and puts an image on the clipboard. When you use the Print Screen button in game, it actually saves a copy to a folder in the City of Heroes directory in your Program Files as well. You can then upload the screen files (in .jpg form) to Photobucket or whatever hosting site. It's better than relying on the Clipboard function.
Costume shots in the creator are crisper and larger than what you can get in game and you don't have to fiddle with the angles to try to get your feet in the shot, etc. -

Well, less people are helped. I can't imagine that "no one" is.
I've had several ideas for names and tried the ole "Get their global and send them a tell" trick. Out of five names, four didn't have a global assigned to them indicating that the accounts have been defunct since before global names were introduced (Issue 12, May 2008). I might just be a unique snowflake in this regard but I have a suspicion that there's a fair number of "good" names that'd be opened up, especially on the heavier populated servers. -

Out of the Six, I need Manticore & Numina on Rose (but can't do Numina yet due to level). So Manticore would be best for me but if a bunch of people want/need something else (or are too low for Manticore - lvl 30?) I'm cool with it.

"Super Dr. Fallout Man"?

Quote:Not only the limited maps but it deters people from street sweeping. I know this has been a back-and-forth balance issue but part of what gave MMORPGs like EQ, WoW & LoTRO interest to me was the variety in the outside world. You'd explore around and, in one place, see stray roaming orcs and deeper in find a whole orc encampment. Both places needed different tactics to be successful.father x gets a good bit of it. all mmos are repetitive, but instancing, while it solves a host of other issues, does highlight that the maps are drawn from a pool that is realistically limited.
There IS some of this in CoX. Some instances are kind of "meh" like the streets of Perez Park with indistinct generic buildings defined only by the nine Hellions standing in front rather than three. Others are pretty neat such as the Freakshow "village" in Crey's Folly. But why would anyone waste time in Crey's Folly from a gameplay perspective? The scenery may be interesting but the actual hunting/xp/risk is worse than in an instance. So players blow past anything that might be unique or "repetitive breaking" and head to the door, fight in Warehouse Small 6, exit and go to the next door.
Another unintended consequence of a good thing is the difficulty slider. In other MMORPGs (I'm largely thinking of Everquest here), some dungeons would get a reputation as pretty easy and others a reputation of being PC-grinders unless everyone was on their toes and fully capable. Much of this had to do with mob density, fleeing mobs drawing aggro, etc. CoX removes that and makes it no surprise when you have the usual mob clumps each time, determined almost completely by how you've set your difficulty. It's good from a "I can have fun soloing my lvl 12 controller AND my lvl 50 scrapper" standpoint but it makes for a very static experience. -
95% of the Tarot buffing I see is in one of two forms:
(A) Randomly hitting people, especially low-levels, as they mill around Ms. Liberty
(B) Everyone Tarot buffing each other before starting a mission/TF and then promptly forgetting to ever refresh it except for sporadic re-buff flurries where half the people waste their buff on someone who still has it and then forgets to try again on someone else after it refreshes.
In short, I wouldn't worry about it. I've never asked, been asked nor seen anyone else really ask for it. It's just a nice perk but nothing anyone really invests much effort in. -
Well, last time was fun. Anyone in the mood to do another TF this week? Either during a weeknight or on the weekend?
Since we had laments that people weren't high enough to do Khan, we could do one of the signature TFs or else one of the Striga ones (Moonfire/Hess).
Rose Veldt needs Manticore but I'm game to run any of them. -

Great picture. I like the pose, grounded yet dynamic. Fits well with the name. Come to think of it, I'm also envious of your name
FYI, I think mentioning prices paid/offered for commissions is forbidden but I don't know if that's only a "Art & Screenshots Forum" rule or universal to the boards. I'd assume it's universal. -

Quote:I'm down with that. I'm also down with the often given alternate purge idea where anyone inactive for 5 years has all names purged; 4 years, purge characters 40 and under; 3 years, 30 and under, etc. Naturally, fire off an e-mail to the accounts on file letting them know it's going to happen. Here is my awesome idea, just go with it.
If an account has been inactive for 24 months or more then all their names on non level 50 characters can get stripped.
I know the counter argument that someone might decide to come back to CoH after a five year absence, find their character name gone and immediately quit in disgust but I (personally) don't see this as a very legitimate concern. I think keeping current paying customers happy is more important than worrying about the potential of the occasional multi-year absentee returning and being bitter. Heck, offer a free reactivation weekend in the e-mail so if someone really *is* worried about losing the name "Tangerine Firebird" after four years of inactivity, they can preserve it (and maybe even get hooked in again). -

Would War Witch stay in Pocket D? My villains always appreciate her "Attaboy!" when they learn better villainy through her before going out and committing more crimes.

Without additional comment, Battlewraith.

Happy Birthday, Wassy!
For being 21, you don't look a day over 18! -
If they do Hess, that's only lvl 25.
But I'd be game for more TF's in the future. Rose still needs Synapse, Numina & Manticore for Task Force Commander. -
