  1. I hope to be done with Sis Psyche by then so I'll mock you a bit more during your last bars to 50
  2. Not an expert but I know a couple of good ice tankers, one of them being an Ice/Ice.

Playing an ice myself i can give you some tips aswell and recruit you into the Core to start

Look for @Jiaozy and I'll invite you to the Armoured Core asap
  3. Hope to have you on board to spread them all with Hurricane and make them all run around with freezing rain!

I may have another couple of people that can do this, but they still aren't sure if they can make it, so we need at least 3 more!
  4. As from the title i would like to make this TF as my lvl 22 Tanker, anyone intersted in this please sign up there or meet at Sis in IP.

Any info you may need can be found here .

Hope to have enough people to start it this time!
  5. I have an Earth/Kin, lvl 33 now and I must say that I've seen very Earth troller around lately...

I love the amount of control Earth brings on the battle but you need at least a decent team to hope and stay alive because of the huge amount of aggro you can draw.

I would never skip stone cages for any other power because if you start with Stalagmite+Stone Cages you have the mob stunned + immobed = held, I skipped Salt Crystal because IMHO any sleep power isn't worth picking because ANY kind of damage will wake the target up and almost if not any powerset has an aoe damage power, so it's virtually impossible to team with someone without having an AoE waking everything up...

I have kin as secondary, TA or Rad would make far more control but they ain't nearly as funny as Kinetic
  6. I completely forgot of this thingy, I'll try and be there

A tank without taunt is pushing the build very close to the scranker build. I have no problem with scrankers, but they must be recognised for what they are: low damage scrappers who dont want to die!

That's roughly equals 10.99% Defense if you hit 14 targets with it. That is pretty weak, IMHO...

    [/ QUOTE ]
If you can read, I said: 25% of your total amount of defence wich, with 41% maximum defence, is roughly 10.25%, wich is the amount that EA gives and is a good share of your damage mitigation.
  10. [ QUOTE ][*]Turn off the shields during travel. if you keep them on while youre doing an endurance draining travel power, you'll travel half the distance and most probably land in the middle of a mob where you could be one shotted due to the fall damage you get.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Uhmm....
I would rather say to KEEP your shields up, ALWAYS!
Because if you travel in an higher level zone you'll decrease tha chance of getting mezzed by higher mob, one shotted by snipers or generally pummeled by foes.
It is also useful because you never know why those lvl 53 Nemeses are in King's Row or near Steel Canyon's station

(although CE is much better than Taunt).

    [/ QUOTE ]
If they take aggro away from you CE is nexty to useless cos the foes are already headed towards the squishy, to grab aggro away from squshy nothing can be compared to taunt.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doesn't happen, since CE slows the mob it will still be in the aoe for the next pulse, and as its a tanker taunt it will overide any amount of aggro.

Energy Absorption was the cournerstone of Ice when it buffed defence into the silly numbers pre issue 5. Now its been turned into just another end recovery power that increases your defence by a tiny amount.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Sure, that tiny amount is like 25% of your total amount of defence, so let's give it up..Rofl
Taunt is unvaluable for mobs that have long ranged attacks(cabal and nemeses anyonme?)how can you hope to keep snipers taunted while not aggroing another group relying only on CE?
Cabals only have ranged attacks so CE is really hard to use and for them you need taunt unless you want every team mate to deal with some foes on their own.....

Ice tanks Chilling Embrace is the signature power of the Ice set.

When comparing tanks, you cant just look at Res and Def. Anything in CE rather large effect is slowed (damage mitigation) and does -14% damage (to ALL damage types) IIRC. These are very important damage mitigation tools.

And "toughness" aside, Ice tanks are, IMO, better at keeping aggro than any other tank: therefore more valuable in teams.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Chilling Embrace is deffo a good tool to increase survivability but as the relative level of the foes you're fighting increase the effect of the debuff drops drastically and it's only in melee range, so it's just a pseudo-res.
No doubt that ice has one of the best taunt aura(CE) that along with Icicles(that no one seems to value but for keeping aggro are ace)grants you total attention from the crowd.
But while tankin and keeping aggro you have to take in account to many stuff than just the primary, fire secondary grants you uber crowd control even for an invuln without CE, almost all the other melee have near wothless AoE for keeping aggro except for the Footstomp that with his knock up help A LOT while tankin, I noticed that while in mish with Unthing and his Goldem Golem, never thought of that before but that knockup is an excellent way to increase survivability.
I could spend loads more words on tools helpful to keep aggro but it's not the time nor the post to do so

Ji has just came home after a f.uckin long trip back home from work due to a car crash(wich luckily I wasn't involved in)on the way that slowed down as hell the traffic...
2.45 hours for a trip that normally takes 20-30 mins max..
  17. But my point is that Ice won't be the super duper uber tanker as many are thinkin, it will be much better than now, for sure, but every other set will do much better aswell because any non-fire tanker gets defence from theyr primary.

By taking all the primaries that matters and at their best (with 10 foes in the range of Energy Absorption and Invincibility)Ice has roughly 41% def to all but psi and 90% res to cold and a bit to fire(can't recall if it's 15-20%)while Invuln has 32% def('some', lol)to all but psi BUT Invuln also has 67% res to S/L(yeah, 'some' res)and around 28% to other elements(always not psi) without other power pools those number looks fairly in favor in Invuln, the player matters a lot anyway, cos i've seen Granite tankers being outanked by Invulns, but that's another story

Not to talk of Granite that gives you some resistances, like 80% to all,and 32% def to all...

They all will be better, Ice will be helped more but anything with a defence power will take adavantage from the change(even a blaster swallowing a handful of purples for the matter).
  18. Sherk's Silver has not yet been updated for the Taunt shift but works with everything else after I6, including ED scaling of enhance bonus.

I never use Joe Chott from when i noticed that a month before ED came out Hasten was still accepting Def Buff enhance as well as Wet Ice....

If it's been updated recently i don't know, but up to a couple of months ago it was VERY outdated so I advise you pick Sherk Silver's editor if you want something reliable and up to date(not instantly but pretty fast )..

Sorry for the grammar and spelling but I'm a bit knackered....but.....must.....read......forums.... .

Edit: in Joe Chott's editor Wet Ice STILL accept Dmg Res and Def Buff enhance, so I won't rely on it for the slottings, Sherk Silver's is up to date for that kind of stuff.

It's a matter of taste and play stile, fire/fire is the most damaging tanker around, fire/ice is the most resilient fire tanker build around.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    C'mon issue 7, c'mon...

Ice tanks will rule the tanking world!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Everyone seems to forget that Stone and Invuln both have lots of defence, just a load more resistances than Ice...
Stone in Granite and an Invuln with Invincibility + Tough Hide with some mobs around are both at almost the same level of defence as an Ice tanker with all his armor running + EA.........
Ice will do a lot better for sure but Stone and Invuln will still be better.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Also, I used to play a bit back in the days when Taunt was single-target and most Tankers relied on Provoke and back then, there was a lot of tankers who managed to hold aggro on invincibility alone and was quite content (and so was their team mates) with it too. There were a few taunt-less and provoke-less tankers back then. I can't see why a taunt-less tanker should "fail" when we have punch-voke.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Gauntlet has been introduced as an inherent power only in I5, but tankers had already that ability(only not slottable) before.
They 'gave' us the faith of having a 'new' inherent but it's always been there.
Issue 5 just showed that to us(like scrappers' criticals, always been there, even without the inherent)but weakened it, A LOT.
Think of those tankers herding +5 or higher with just the taunt aura and occasionally and AoE attack, now a +4 already NEVER follows you for more than 200ft. because the taunting of the taunt auras is been cut a lot, along with the taunt from attacks.
Now the Gauntlet can be slotted tho, but back in the day when Taunt was single target the auras where far more powerful at keeping aggro.
Anyway, I'm not saying that a tanker is 'that' bad without Taunt, just that I won't rely on one if I'll have to face challenging missions and on big teams.

I would like to lvl up my MM too but can't find the time/team/will to lvl him up..

I rolled a new tanker, an ice one, and I got Taunt at lvl 8(before the patch that switched the 3rd attack and taunt)and I've done fine up till now(lvl 21)without DOs and without SOs, simply because if you're taunting them, the buffer/debuffer/healer/whatever can focus on the foes around you or focus on healing you, hence more safety for all the team.
