I just wanted to thank you all. Felix is a *blast* to play now. This is not his current build, I am still working on the inf for the Kinetic Combats, but it's close. The totals will have defense added from the nerve alpha slot, which should (nearly?) softcap them. Currently I have Obliteration six slotted in FS, and have smashing haymaker in KoB.

Quote:I actually found it easier on my build to softcap all 3 positionals than iot was to softcap N/E, S/L was doable, though.Not that I know of, but IMO the advantage of going for typed defense instead of positional is that you can cover a very high percentage of attacks coming your way by soft-capping S/L/E/NE and basically ignoring F/C/Psi. Capping two of the three positionals won't get you nearly the same level of coverage.
Also, typed defense bonuses generally come as 3 or 4 slot bonuses, where you have to use 5 or 6 for positional bonuses. Not having to 6-slot powers to get the bonuses you need is a big plus, in my book.

If you have two characters that can solo well, you can start saving up hero merits on one for the Gladiator's proc, and sell stuff on the other for influence. Luck of the Gambler global recharges are a safe investment but random rolls may get you more INF in the long run. -
So, I guess the only question I have now is where to get the $3B or so it is going to take. That may be a conservative estimate.
Is it worth it to softcap the positionals? Or am I better off softcapping S/L only.

I am trying to build a softcapped defense DA/SS Tanker, but while it seems that (with incredible amounts of inf for Kinetic Combats) you can softcap S/L, I have also read that you should try to softcap E/N, but I am having trouble doing so. Alternatively, is it even possible to softcap positional defense with this combination? I usually team, but my dark tank, while being scranky has also historically been squishy. I am getting better at playing him, but if anyone has any recommendations, i am all for it.
I am happy to post builds, but I am working on version 6, for positional, and I can't seem to get melee and ranged over 38% or so. AoE is not hard to get high.
