A Quote from GR:
[ QUOTE ]
There are currently no plans to implement EU -> US or US -> EU server transfers, and no plans for any server mergers.
[/ QUOTE ]
The way you drag out the issue gives a strong image that your sitting in the corner fingers in your ears shouting "Lalala I cant hear you"
Look, I get it, it's a fine idea, there are those who agree with you. Heck, even I would like to see more people out there, it's just not going to happen your way.
[/ QUOTE ]
May I ask a question?
If we don't post these threads, asking the devs for things we'd like to see, then how are they a) going to know what we want? and b) how strong the feeling is for such features?
I predict these threads will continue until one of two things happen. 1) the merge happends, or 2) player numbers increase to the point where by people aren't worried about the numbers any more.
[/ QUOTE ]
I never said you shouldn't, but between yourself and the OP you've started [u]3[u] threads in a matter of days that have already been discussed before and has had numerous red name replys all saying the same thing, which is that I've already quoted in my previous post.
I believe there is a saying about beating dead horses, and how you should not beat them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think this issue is dead yet. On life support maybe. But not dead. -

[/ QUOTE ]
And you'll keep getting the same RedName reply as well as being shot down in flames.
[/ QUOTE ]
Look on the bright side - at least you'll have threads to pad your post count in.
And if the RedName keeps having to lock threads, then they have to keep locking threads. One of the great things about this country is the freedom of speech.
Next on film four... Carry on posting...
Oh - if you have a couple of minutes to read the posts, you might want to keep tally as to how many people are agree that "something" needs to be done. I'm sure the RedNames are too. -

What a well thought out opening post.
You've really given this some thought haven't you? I believe that anything that increase active players in a "server" is a good idea. The "one server" idea is also an excellent way to do away with the "them and us" that a appears on occassions. -

[ QUOTE ]
By allowing free (or even chargable) movment of toons from one server to another it increase the chances of evening out the server populations.
[/ QUOTE ]
It would only do that if people preferred the less populated server. As people tend to prefer the more populated server, the effect of your suggestion would be entirely the opposite.
[/ QUOTE ]
But people are saying that there prefer the less populated servers, i.e. the EU. So why would people move from one less populated server to another? -

[ QUOTE ]
It's pointless wishing for things like merging the server sets. It's NOT going to happen, and has been explained why many many times. If you want to play on the US servers, you can do the same anyone else can. Buy a copy of the US game, and start from scratch. Not the ideal answer, but the ONLY answer.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you've nothing better the add - please stay away from this thread.
I'm sure we all know whats been said in the past. However I and others do believe this is a need for the good of the game. If we stop asking then it won't happen.
Please don't try to shoot people down in flames just because you don't want to see the feature being suggested.
[/ QUOTE ]
FFM didn't shoot anyone down in flames, he just repeated what is the current stance on this I'm afraid.
You've no right to tell people not to reply in a thread, especially if its just because they make a point disagreeing with yours.
[/ QUOTE ]
So what gives you the right to point that out to me? -

As the title says really.
Thanks

That might benefit you, but how would it benefit the game?

But then "there's no demand" for a transfer tool....
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is the reason why there isn't one.
[/ QUOTE ]
Read the threads - two people have asked, and I know others.
Thereofre the IS a demand. As I said above - maybe not a big demand, but there is one.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh! Two people! Wow! They are really going to spend money on two people! I know! If I ask for a pony, they're going to spend money on just me as well!
[/ QUOTE ]
So we decended to the lowest form of wit. Not suprised.
On my personal experience there are at least 10 people I know of who were online last night that would move over.
So, given the player count was around 117 i believe and at least 10 of them wanted to move I believe that accounts for ... oh about 9 or 10% of the active server population last night.
Makes you think...
ps.
Nice job de-railing a thread with a genuine point to make with talk of poines just because you don't agree with it. What a load of pony. You people make me sick at times. -
Well - fun as it is sparing with you all on this topic - I'm off.
Think about whats been said.
The is a demand for this - however small. (Just as there is for animated hair) -

At the time I purchased the game, I wasn't aware there was an US version. If I had then I might have signed up for that version.
Therefore don't the EU players, who like me were not aware of the choice, deserve to have the choice?
[/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps you deserve it doesn't meen the company are in a posistion to provide it.
[/ QUOTE ]
But we know they can provide it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Based on what?
AFAIK they have never moved any characters from the EU servers to the US server, I have certainly never read about it happening, here or anywhere else including the US forums. They have been known to swap accounts round if you bought the wrong one, or as the case of a Aussie player I spoke to once who bought the US but wanted the EU (to play with friends) and got his US account closed and a EU account opened, fairly sure I have read of the opposite too. (EU to US for an Aussie player.)
However I still wonder why you 'know' that they can provide a transfer of characters from EU to US?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because if a toon can be trasnferred intact from the US to the EU - logically the reverse must alos be true.
I find it hard to accept that the unlying tech of the servers is that different that data can only be trasnfered one way (wouldn't that defeat the object of a server?)
[/ QUOTE ]
Not true. They can transfer toons to the Test Server but cannot transfer them back. I know this because I had my 50s deleted and asked if they could be transfered from Test. They said that it was a one-way system and that they haven't developed a method to transfer from the Test Server.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hard to believe. There has to be a way to move the data from one location to another. Maybe not an easy or quick way - but there has to be a way.
There are always possibilities. -
[ QUOTE ]
What about game and support localisation?
That's a huge factor to think about for EU players on the US servers. It's one reason why NC Europe was set up.
[/ QUOTE ]
How would a server transfer tool effect them?
Again - unless all the EU people went yank side. But then "there's no demand" for a transfer tool....
I'm seeing some holes here people.. maybe time for some more wild assumptions. -

I've just thought of something.
Here I am trying to suggest a server transfer tool.
And you lot are trying to point out it's not needed. Why?
I mean - one person wanting something is a demand (a small demand granted). So there is a demand for it.
I can't think of any reason why you lot are dead against the idea, unless your worried that people would up and leave the EU, and that might effect the population numbers. -

I wouldn't know about Wow - never looked at it.
And I work ing marketing - specifically in the online space and I didn't see jack about WoW - so it can't have been that "massive"

Take it you don't watch much tv then, they've employed I think 8 stars from Mr T to MiniMe to talk about playing WoW in a series of tv ads.

You do - buy the US version. Not a great choice, but a choice nonetheless.
[/ QUOTE ]
And waste 4yrs worth of subs? I don't recall those US to EU movers losing there Vets or Badges? So why should I?
[/ QUOTE ]
They did, the US>EU Transfer wasn't available until a while after the EU Launch. These people opened EU accounts without any promise of a transfer in the future.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've never said I wouldn't buy a US account. I'm saying that "if" I had a US account I should be offered the choice to move my toon across. -

Because more revenue is always good?

But then - havn't we been told that "numbers are at an all time high"???
If numbers have been increasing to these new hights then why spend massive amounts of money when you don't need too? -

If, just an "if" mind, "if" there wasn't an issue with player numbers in the EU - why would there be plans for a marketing campaign?
I mean - that game has run for 4 years with the need for one. So why now?
Could it be that the Dev want to see more players in the game, or just that they want more money?
