If your can't earn merits from MA story arcs....well, I'll just say that would be a shame.
[/ QUOTE ]So far as it's known, no i13 merits will be awarded through the Architect. However there will be "skee ball tickets" awarded. How these might be redeemed is presently unknown.

Merits for the Hall of Fame missions might be good...
[/ QUOTE ]
I would assume that once a mission is chosen as worthy of Hall of Fame/Devs Choice status, it would give all rewards as normal.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is not presently known. And I'm afraid I haven't seen anything to support it. Sorry.

Also, this. -
It's probably about as ready as the "Vault" website.

So, everyone that went "Anonymous" is is closed beta?
YES!

Now, now ...
You know better than to spread totally unsubstantiated rumors around here.

Makes sense though, all the red names went anonymous also becuase they on on the list for closed beta as well...they need to access to the closed beta forums too!
Heheh....if it's true, Castle is probably bellowing out an evil laugh right now as he erases my name from the closed beta list for pointing this out. Doh! -

clearly the phrase "create their very own pockets of theoretical existence" is what is commonly known as a metaphor. It's not like Dr. Aeon figured out how to create his own alternate dimensions and was like "well, i could market it and let everyone use it for fun times." I'm a good guy and even I know I'd make the ultimate happy fun universe and live there forever, leaving everyone else behind if i had that tech.
No, it's just a holodeck.
And why all the hate for them writing it into the lore? It wouldn't make sense for a brand new set of buildings with this crazy technology to magically appear without anyone taking notice. I approve of this article.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe I misread. I took it as his machine was actually creating alternate universes for entertainment....which I think is stupid. If it is in fact just a Holodeck type thing then it makes much more sense and consider me sold. -

Dual Builds....yet another addition to the game that has absolutely no place in the in-game lore.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with you about dual builds and powerset proliferation. Especially powerset proliferation. But I think the MA thing should have some connection to the in-game lore, and it's pretty easy to just do a holodeck/danger room hand-wave. I don't think I'd have gone with Dr. Aeon, personally, or the focus on entertainment, but whatever. Once we get the tool, people will use it however they want.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, as long as the actual tool is good....I don't care about the silly story behind it. A holodec/training room woulda been a much better explaination though. -

I still wish this had a stronger tie to the mainstream lore than just a overgrown mini-game. Out do Television? Really?
[/ QUOTE ]
What do you expect from Dr. Aeon? Seriousness? Really?
But yeah, I get your point.
Then again how would you explain in the lore, every super powered being on both sides of Paragon being suddenly able to reconstruct reality and create their own pocket universe, without bordering on silliness? I mean, really, even for a comic book universe. LOL
[/ QUOTE ]
That's why I don't think it should be part of the lore at all. Our characters aren't making these missions...we the subscribers are. The missions that get selected to the hall of fame/Dev's Choice could simply be explained as alternate timelines/reality accessible thru Ouroboros. THAT would be somewhat believable.
The rest of the silly and "unworthy" missions don't really need to be explained thru in game lure IMO. If they absolutely have to be explained, at least explain it as a virtual reality device and not an actual machine that creates alternate realities for entertainment....that's just silly IMO. -
Just my $.02, I'm happy to get a little teaser, but I don't like how they attempt to write in things like the MA as part of the CoH storyline. Probably just me, it just doesn't make any sense IMO and should just be kept as an out of game lore content creator. I feel the same way about writing proliferation into the story line. Do we really need to explain in game why villains can carry a mace now?
Don't mean to be negative, it's just a little thing that bugs me. Overall it looks great and I'm glad to see some pics! -

Does anyone have tips for red side grinding? Thanks.

The Cap SF is fast and easy. The Respec Trials all give 15 merits each and are easy as heck. I do the third one once a day and it usually takes 15-20 minutes. You can do all 3 Respecs in less than an hour for 45 Merits. That is the best thing I've found so far. -
So uh Posi, issue 15's release is still going to coincide with the 5 year anniversay.....right? That basicly gives you 3 months to get issue 14 and 15 to live.....is it foot in mouth time?
-
Wow....this thread is still going?
-
sumwun say sumtin bout sammiches?

Are we EVER getting new forums? or is the website the only thing that got revamped? Also, what happen to the Vault website where you could display and track your in game information? That still *coming soon?
-
Ageed. The advertisment of CoH/CoV has always been our weakest point.

Put yourself in thier position. They have to offer things as Vet rewards that are fair and balanced. Meanwhile nomatter what it is, you have people on the forums screaming that it's overpowered and gamebreaking. AND at the same time people saying it's lame and weak and they aren't even trying.
What would you do? -
Was all that talk about guiding yourself to the shady places or sunny places code for side switching in issue 15?
-
I'd be willing to bet that Vet Rewards are MUCH more effective in keeping long time players here, than keeping relative noobs here. Just sayin'

63 month vet reward: The option to swap out your power choice at lvl 49 for 3 more slots instead.

I think they should just allow people to buy Vet rewards early. That way you can wait get em for free, or if your one of the noobs screaming DOOOOM!! you can just open up your wallet and pay $5 per reward.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now wait a sec. I paid 720 dollars to get the 60 month reward after "waiting" for 5 years, and a newbie gets them all for $100. Granted I understand that would be upfront and I could see a discount being applied for shelling it out in a lump sum, but that is one hell of a disparity.

Look, I personally don't care. I have 36 month Vet rewards and I'm good with that. I wouldn't buy them if they were available. With that said I have three things to point out.
1. You did NOT pay $720 for your Vet rewards. You paid that money to play the game for 5 years and your Vet rewards are a FREE bonus thrown in to show appreciation. If other people could buy them it doesn't affect you in the least. In the immortal words of James Brown "I gots mine, so don't worry bout his" Letting players purchase Vet rewards for $5 each would not reduce the value of your Vet rewards, yours are still free to you. It would however bring in a bunch of extra income, which is a good thing for all players.
2. If you think these great rewards at 3 years - 5years keeps people playing longer your crazy. I promise you noone is going to play for an xtra year just to get some boxing shorts or a Nemesis Staff. For people just starting this game, well who knows if this game will even be around in 5 years? Even if it is, they will have 10 year Vet rewards by then so a new person can never get half this stuff. The idea that Vet rewards keep people playing longer is just false. The money they'd pay to get these rewards immediatly is quite real.
3. If players were aloud to buy the rewards, I don't think they should be able to pick and choose. They would be aloud to buy them in order from whatever reward they are currently on. So if you have 9 months of Vet rewards and want the 24th month vet reward, you'd have to buy 12, 15, 18, 21, and then 24. That's $25 that just went to the game and that helps now, not in 2 years when this player will supposedly still be playing just so they can get this reward. Just don't include the Badge with the rewards, this way you can still see how long people have actually been playing. -
Lol. I agreed the 60 month Vet reward wasn't silly, you on the other hand are an entirely different story.

It's not silly at all, it opens up a lot of options for vets who have played for YEARS

That's all that really needs to be said. After all, that is the point is it not?
[/ QUOTE ]
Way to twist my words.
No, that isn't the point. Vet rewards are supposed to be neat little perks. This is a BIG deal. Not little. More than a perk.
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't twist anything, just quoted your first sentence. You shoulda just stopped there was my point.
Look, you don't even need a travel power nowadays. With speed bonuses and a 100k Flight pack ANYONE can skip the travel pools entirely. You really are just whining over nothing here. -
