Moonset over Paragon with Gyrfalcon Prime
Fwoosh!
Triptych (Air Force, Gyrfalcon Prime, Photon X)
I think those are the kind of shots you're after. -
I use the scroll wheel to get my shots, and there *are* a lot of unintended crashes into things, especially at first. But it's a skill like anything else, and practice makes perfect.
I got the flying shot of Starina in this collage in KR. The flying shots of Gyrfalcon Prime in this collage were taken in Steel.
To get building shots in FF, you could always team up with someone as a sidekick in order to survive the experience. (Especially sharpshooters.) I have high enough level flying toons on Guardian and Virtue if you need help. -

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Here's another character I wound up creating.

I fear I'll never conquer my altism.

Whyever would you want to?
(Another cool design, to boot.) -
One of my oldest characters is Capt. Blood, formerly a Broadsword/Super Reflexes Scrapper, now a Dual Blades/Willpower Scrapper.
Unlike a lot of pirate-themed toons (as well as many of my others), this one isn't at all jokey.

I heard about the big lawsuit but did CoH actually get sued or did they settle?
[/ QUOTE ]
They actually sued, but Marvel's lawyers bungled it and Cryptic won. -
[ QUOTE ]
It does seem rather sad though that people get told to leave the game if they make a character that symbolizes their favorite superhero...I mean, its a superhero game, what do you expect? I wanted to make Spider Man, The Hulk, Wolverine, etc. I even saw people saying to a guy who made a Spider Man look-a-like to leave the game and make a new character...its sad, really, that Marvel is such a tight-wad about their characters.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can definitely copy a lot of characters from comics with the costume creator, as well as manga and anime toons. Problem is, with the Marvel lawsuit against CoH, you do tend to get genericked rather quickly. Of course, often that depends on whether other players report you.
People still do it, though. In the cyborg thread a guy showed his instantly-genericked Dr. Doom clone, which was really amazingly close to the real thing. Last night I saw a mid-level Superman clone, and Wednesday I saw an Iron Man knock-off. -

I'm enjoying these new costume pieces far too much.

And Ironik has already posted pics of Dr. Lugnuts and Ruckus when he caught me messing around with them.

That was you? Awesome. I thought the wings looked great on Ruckus. -

does the self destruct option get interupted if hit like the pocket D TP?
[/ QUOTE ]
I would highly, HIGHLY reccomend you do NOT zone while the self-destruct power is counting down. There is currently a bit of an issue with the FX script that can cause the camera shake to not stop and increase over time...indefinitely. If this happens, the only fix is to completely shut down the game and restart it.

Man, now I want to buy the pack just for this bug. -

Such a tease; all build-up, no release. -
I took some shots in Atlas (Virtue) last night of various cyborgs. Here are shots of players with the complete (or mostly complete) costume. These are unedited.
Blue & silver front, waist up
Blue & silver back, waist up
Blue & silver, back, feet to shoulders
Red & silver, full front, dual blades
Red & silver, right side, dual blades
Red & silver, full back
Face close-up, showing eyes -- put a hood on that and you've got Dr. Doom.
Silver, black & red, front -- I think this was an alternate costume from someone named Shocktarts. Probably my favorite look of all the cyborg costumes last night.
Silver, black & red face close-up
Silver, black & red face close-up with HUD
Gold & grey, huge and tiny, with wings - I think this was someone dual-boxing. Names were something like Dr. Lugnuts and Ruckus the Robot.
Gold & grey, face close-up on Ruckus
Green & black, full front from top
Silver & black, front, waist up
Silver & black, full back
Blue & purple, front, waist up
Blue & purple, full back
Maybe later I'll upload the shots I took of people combining the cyborg bits with other costume pieces. -

Well, more info about the character would help, but you say you don't have a backstory in mind. Otherwise I just play off of the colors of the powers. Since Archery has no color and the mental abilities are pink, that limits the palette.
Personally I can't design something without an idea of the character. Without a backstory, it's just a case of assembling bits that look good together, which is why I mentioned characters I've already designed. Other than the idea of being armored, their aesthetics run the gamut from colorful to subdued.
So we know you don't like street clothes, armored or combat outfits and you don't want a lot of skin showing. That leaves the classic superhero looks: Golden Age, Silver Age and modern. Are there any comic characters you especially like? -

What's the deal with the self destruct? Is it an actual Nova-like power, or is it an emote? BaB said something about it not killing Kitsune, which makes it seem like a PBAoE... but if so, do you not garner debt with it?
I mean, it looks cool, sure, but I have to use this emote for the self-destruct thing -->
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a power, and it's SUPPOSED to kill you (doesn't give you debt, you can use self rez/awakens, not sure about others using an ally rez on you), but I've encountered a couple bugs where I wasn't completely killed and other issues. It does more damage than Corruptor/Defender Nukes, and a little less than (some) Blaster nukes... but it has a FAR larger radius than a Blaster nuke.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks for the clarification.
Is it like a Vet power, where you can access it on any character? -

It's not so much the quality of the screenshots as it's the overall design. For an extra $10 I was hoping for something a little more out of the ordinary. The auras are in that ballpark, but the costume bits aren't.
Basically they look like variations on existing themes. Mangler Gears, but different. Vanguard Belt, but altered. Enforcer detail, shifted.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's more about how you can make more unique combinations using Vanguard, Enforcer, and Cyborg sets. Cyborg sets gives a lot of cool shoulder and face plate options to choose from as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Shoulder pad options don't do anything for me. I think I've used maybe two in all the characters I've ever made, mostly because they don't integrate well with the rest of the costume parts. Same for the chest stuff. It often just seems to be stuck on the front rather than part of the outfit.
As I said, the rest of it, like the pants and gloves options, just seem very Enforcer-ish to me. Too much so.
The only thing of all those pieces that interested me at all was the new faceplate. That's a cool item. But if you stick an aura on it, you lose the eyes, which are the key to its coolness. Not sure it's worth $10, honestly. -
I'm not a fan of giblets, either. Gots to keep them girl-cooties contained.
How about something a bit more armored? For extra-hazardous duty in places like Crey's Folly.
In my sig I have the high-tech Cybernaut, the old-timey Lightrider, the ready-for-action Miss Iceland, the locked-and-loaded Starshina Mir and the heavily-armored Windblast. -
Interesting look, but boy-howdy we need to find you a better name.

Based on those shots I'm kind of underwhelmed, actually. Which is a real shame, given the sheer number of androids, robots and cyborgs I have. (Both my 50s, Photon X and Future Shock, are an android and cyborg, respectively.)
I'll have to see one in-game to check it out, but it rather looks like a variation on the Enforcer stuff.
