  1. Hmm...

I'm running Vista 64 Ultimate SP1 and still need the -compatiblecursors 1 switch in order to see mouse pointers.

Hi, Godfall. I think the confusion here is we're interpreting "missing costume parts" differently.

The "missing costumes" I'm referring to are the trenchcoats, backpacks and bandanas. These are the ones you mean, yes?

I'm not referring to any pre-I8 bugs here (flickering or clipping), but the fact the full costumes of thugs are not appearing any more. I've not got any workarounds to fix it either.

The link I posted is to a post dated 13 November 2006 on the US test server forum (which was testing I8 at the time) from _Castle_ (one of the devs) saying he knows it's a bug and is working on it.

All I was trying to do was point out to you that the bug making trenchcoats, backpacks and bandanas not appear is just that - a bug - not some undocumented permanent change that isn't posted in the patch notes.

    Not talking about clipping.

Missing costume parts is a different bug. (see the US thread linked above)

There's no patch notes because it's a bug, not an intentional change.

_Castle_'s posted that he's aware of the bug and is working on a fix.

  5. I've never been on a TF/SF team that's gone in, done the job and left with such ease. Great work by all involved.

Give me a shout if you're planning others

  9. An interesting idea, and one not without merit.

However, I would be cautious of being too overzealous on the "you're not talking about PvP, please leave" issue.

With any group of people there is going to be a certain percentage of inane banter. People chat to each other - it is, afterall, the nature of people - and it's that interaction that fosters communities, lets people get to know each other and can gel a disparate collection of individuals into a group of friends. (And it's fun )

Be mindful that a chat channel is not a forum. While it's relatively easy to keep on topic in a forum thread, people's brains don't tend to work that way in real-time - trying to coerce people into staying on topic with threats of lodging petitions may only have the effect of killing off the community you're trying to protect.

Now, I'm only a casual lurker on /arena, so may well be talking out of my hat - but I'm an old fart who's been knocking about in online games for donkey's years and while I applaud the idea of keeping the signal to noise ratio on /arena to an acceptable level, I know it's the people and the community who you chat with that makes the game worth playing.

    Some more good news...

Ice Tankers and SR Scrappers have long lamented that Defense doesn't scale with level. Because mobs higher level than a player possess an inherent to hit bonus, Defense isn't as effective over levels as Resistance.

A while ago, peoople have requested something be done. Well, we've done a bunch of work and done this. Defense powers will now work equally well against critters, regardless of their rank or level. For instance, your defense powers will work equally well against a Boss or any critter up to 5 levels higher than you, as it does for an equal level minion. This change has no effect on a player who does not have any Defense.

This change is coming in I7
