Insatiable

I am new to Doms, but have played trollers in the past. I have an earth/energy dom at 35 and have noticed something I consider an issue. The big AoE hold, Volcanic Gases, does not seem to be affected by Domination. I have been trying to find out if this is intentional or a bug as it is part of the pet mechanics. Anyone know?
