I'm fairly sure the prepurchase is digital only. So... it wouldn't be. XD;
-
I'm fairly sure it's just been confirmed it'll be available by Double XP Weekend.
I think people just assume today because that's when patches normally roll out. And while the patch IS up, and the prepurchase isn't, I don't think I'd be looking for heads to roll until Thursday if it's not TODAY. :P -
You know, as I pointed out earlier in the thread... (And may as well point out again.)
EVERY new purchaser of a full collection of CoH gets 30 days free time. This isn't anything NEW. The only difference THIS TIME is that apparently that can be applied to anyone... if you just wait a little longer. -
Quote:I dunno.I would like to see them offer the Complete Collection for pre sale, even if there is a $5.00 - $10.00 premium for the early access. As it is, it feels as if they are edging into Cryptic territory (though they have a LONG way to go to get there in my opinion) of $.05 and $.10 the players.
Keep in mind it contains CoH + CoV, too, the complete collection.
So that's a value of $20 right there, anyway, that they're just throwing into the otherwise $30 expansion. That only benefits NEW players, sure, but it could be a LOT worse... But that just brings me to...
Like I said above, new subscribers get a free month anyway, right? That's really all this is, it's just that older players seem to have an opt in to get it for the time of this particular expansion's release. Which is kind of generous by some MMO standards.
And really, all this is better than some other games expansions. (Though not the territory you mention they're still aways away from.)
A certain OTHER MMO I tried to get into once I had to buy the $20 main game, $20 expansion, and $40 OTHER expansion. PLUS $15 a month fee.
All things told, this looks a lot better than all that. -
From the sounds of it, it seems to me that the "upgrade" would probably be $10... which is what we pay for Boosters, anyhow, which are... basically item packs. None of them exceed $10, so I don't expect this to.
Though the 30 days free game time is nice (and actually, looking from a retail perspective, this is a GREAT way to introduce an expansion to the retail public for a 5+ year old game...), it's not a game breaker for me.
So, that's how I'm going to basically look at it; those who buy the Complete Collection at retail get a shiny new booster attached to it, like when I bought the Architect Edition and got a ... slightly older Booster.
And I'll be getting to tool around with Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning much earlier, so I'm completely cool with that trade-off.
EDIT: And isn't the "FREE MONTH" thing STANDARD with a purchase of the current COH "complete" collection/the Architect Edition, ANYWAY? I seem to remember my first month was free, so that's what this basically is. -
Speaking AS a new player... eh. I appreciate the early access to the EATs. I mean, it's not like leveling to 50 is HARD - I'll have my main Scrapper up there rather quick. Heck, maybe before the issue even drops?
But it takes away that need to feel like I have to power on through everything to unlock that stuff. If anything, it'll just give me reason to kick back and enjoy myself and the storylines more. -
I suppose an introduction post is okay? XD;
Regardless. Howdy. I only joined the game back in November after obtaining a new computer, and to follow after a friend of mine that's been in the game for several years. Overall, I've quite enjoyed my stay, though I'm afraid I'm not always the most talkative bloke in public.
After multiple failed attempts at ANOTHER MMO over the years, I've been quite pleasantly surprised to find, for the most part, people here have been rather... NICE and helpful since I first started. It's a rather shocking turn of events for me. :P
I'm mainly (or, pretty much, ONLY) on Virtue, so if I'm ever on... well. This is where I'll be. Most of my characters aren't too high a level yet, with only my BS/Elec Scrapper and Nin/Traps Mastermind above level 20. Buuuuut, I'm working on it.
But, anyway. Um. Hi.;;

Greetings, folks.
I'm fairly new to the game, with just under three months under my belt. I was pulled into the game by a friend of mine, a 5+ year veteran, who's been great showing me the ins and outs and giving me general advice about my characters' builds.
My main is, as one could expect from the thread title, a Broadsword/Electric Armor Scrapper. Out of everything I've tried thus far, I would say he's PRETTY MUCH the character I've been happiest with thus far... There's a lot I like about both powersets, and his survivability is pretty good. Plus, I don't have to generally worry about carrying around Greens or Blues with Energize and Power Sink. But after botching some stuff on my first respec, I've been trying to hash out a second one.
While I'm certainly getting nice advice from my buddy, I was also curious as to what others opinions might be, since I haven't been able to find much about Electric Armor here, much less this powerset combination in general. (Of course, as I understand it, Electric Armor is a recent addition to Scrappers, so, hey. I'm happy with it, at least. :P )
Regardless, for point of reference, I've built my respec in Mids up to Level 41, where I'm trying to pretty much decide where to go from there.
I haven't, say, worked in my slotting yet, mainly because I've already got a picture of what I'm going to do there once I have everything in place, and am just trying to work out the base template before I fill in the blanks there. XD;
For the record, right NOW, he's just one bar away from Level 38. (And I owe a lot of this to my friend's advice. XD; )
(Additionally, I only focus on PvE, as PvP just isn't my thing.)
