  1. it's possible, but it is odd that my desktop can play it, but my laptop does not, and it shouldnt be affecting Test and Live server's connection.

    but then again, who knows.

Have you ever had to run a ScanDisk check or had a lockup where you had to hard restart?
  2. I've pretty much eliminated Anti-virus as the culprit, as I have uninstalled it, and it still didnt work with 0 antivirus, and I just reinstalled it, and still not connecting, so it shouldn't be that.

I've always been on American Servers.

You on a laptop or desktop?

and yeah, usually its faster here, but obviously everyone is baffled by what's going on.
I'm able to play on my desktop, but my desktop is out of date, and slower than my laptop. That and I do love to sit in the living room and be able to game.
  3. u should do a petition, just like i did.. It's been a week now, but they are trying. Probably would be faster if I was at home for more than 2 hrs during their work day.

I will post if they suggest something that works, so u can try it also..
Its not looking good that you're the 3rd so far that has this problem occuring.

    Maybe we should brainstorm this.

Anything unique happen to you prior to not being able to play?

install a new game? Crash? Anti-Virus update? How long has this been going on for you?
  4. not sure... SigmaTel Audio perhaps? brand doesnt look familiar to me.
  5. ouch. that has to hurt.

Double check to make sure the sending toon doesnt have the money still

but yeah, u'l probably have to wait til monday or tuesday. Any high lvl tech support is off on weekends... since regular GMs probably cant just give the inf back to u. (i know, i'm on weekend 2 with an issue that's not being resolved, but they are helping tons trying to figure it out)
  6. it doesn't let me change the ultra mode settings while in Safe Mode.

Oh, and i can't figure out where to find driver updates for my sound card. It seems to be a bad search-fu on my part.
  7. what would doing a fresh install do? I have 2 versions (test and Live) that both are going through the same thing. I highly highly doubt reinstalling will do anything, as whatever caused it, is not the CoX files itself.
  8. Yeah, i figured the issue with the laptop not connecting when i turn everything off. I temporarily uninstalled McAfee til i figure everything out. WHich means no more searching for stuff that I do in private time.

  10. After looking a bit at my HIjackThis thing, i see a lot of entries that say "file missing"

could those missing files be needed for anything? or what?
  11. funny, almost 40 posts in here, a week later, and still nothing has changed.

DLed adaware, ran it. found 0 bad things, but 300 cookies..
Tried to get on, and still the same thing.

Everything is up to date with the windows patches

Tech support seems to be just as confused, as NOTHING they are suggesting is working. This is starting to look very bleak for me

Anything short of system restore would be greatly appreciated.
  12. nope. dns flush didnt work either
  13. I uninstalled my anti-virus and still not working.. now i gotta reinstall it dammit. :/

I doubt it's a bad sector that is causing it, or needing a defrag, i have it scan for bad sectors and do a defrag weekly on a day I'm always at work. And it wouldn't affect both Test server and Live server the same way.

il try the flushing of the DNS in a minute. Soon as I figure out how to do that again. lol
  14. yeup, works in safe mode.

I already tried the basic run of the computer, and some reason, the laptop wont connect to the internet with that.

Checked the 3D settings, and its already set to application controlled.
  15. Vista, and yeup, tried in Admin mode too.
  16. B Witched -- that was the first thing I was suggested to do and that was what I did.

I was able to close out McAfee, and it still didnt run the game. I'm a little leary about uninstalling my anti-virus, but if tech support don't answer back soon, il give it a whirl.

And an odd note, after trying a few other times to see if i can force myself in, i noticed that a few CoH processes were still running, even after i closed off the programs that were not loading. Didn't cause me to get it to work, but still something interesting i noticed in task manager
  17. well, last time i made sure that mcafee didnt start up when i restart, my computer just wouldnt connect to the internet. I tried turning off the firewall, turned off the active scan thing, i even went through the list of programs that I have given access to the internet to and it still doesnt let me get through outside of safe mode.

    *sigh*
  18. i'm dealing with Tech support atm, so if they still can't get it fixed, il do a system restore.

and no, im at home. I have had an instance where i couldn't get on before because AT&T messed with its routers settings, and i couldn't get into the game. But this is different, because i can get to it on Safe Mode.

    ***Update***

Just had a thought. Last time i know it worked, was before McAfee had an update i had to download and restart the computer..... could that lil b****** cause it?
  19. i have no graphic tablets installed. I uninstalled DellDock for good measure and still nothing has changed.

this is making Infy a sad panda
  20. nope. did not solve the issue either.
  21. tech support had me uncheck everything in the MSCONFIG. It actually caused me to not connect to the internet. But finally fixed it to connect again, with only that running, and it still did this.

And its not just the Live server folder. I tested Test server too and had the same thing occur.
