  1. My name? Heh, even that’s a tough one to answer. Although most people around here know me as Inferno-Fist, my real name’s Shashissasari. You can see why most people call me Inferno-Fist. And that I’m not from around here…not even the same solar system.

My home planet is called Antissiau…well, was would be a better word I suppose. Not that it’s gone, just that there isn’t anyone there to call it anything anymore. You see, before the Rikti had even thought of attacking Earth, they were checking out Antissiau. The Antissiauns, my people, were…different. I think the Rikti thought of us as a threat.

Maybe if they had studied us a bit closer they would have realized that our blood being incredibly flammable when exposed to oxygen wasn’t really to be feared. It takes decades of dedication to be able to control your skin to the point where you can expose your blood vessels to the atmosphere and then pull them back into yourself at will.

So when the Rikti came upon an peaceful race with a huge fleet of ships, well, we didn’t stand a chance. However, they didn’t kill all of us, at least at first. They wanted to study us. When the Rikti moved to conquer more planets, we were herded along like cattle. Their portal technology was amazing. Huge archways were constructed on each planet they conquered, to allow transition back to their home world, or their next destination.

It went on like this for a time, our people slowly dieing off from the experimentations. Even though we couldn’t understand them, we could still see how highly the Rikti thought of themselves after each conquest. One time, however, they seemed scared. I knew this had to be the time to act. I could see the huge portal looming ahead of us in this foul sewer they had us staying in. We could tell that the Rikti were trying to hasten us towards it.

I was to be the last of my people to go through the portal, followed closely by two of the Rikti Chiefs. As I neared the portal, I started the change. I was too close to the portal. I should have started earlier. I turned back on my Rikti captors to see a band of brightly colored, cape-clad individuals storming into the sewer. My eyes widened as I stumbled back, almost falling into the portal. I could feel myself beginning to be pulled into it. Suddenly the change completed, and I violently combusted; I hadn’t been paying attention and let my blood vessels completely dilate, allowing much more blood than is ever recommended to be used to reach the air.

Next thing I knew, I was on top of a thirty-story building; the explosion must have caused me to become infused with the power of their portals, because I could now teleport at will, although to a much lesser extent than the originals could. As I looked down on this war-worn city, I set my eyes upon a monument of a man holding up what was apparently this new world that I have come to call home. At that moment, I resolved to fight for the people that cannot, the people like my late family and friends. Little did I know that I wouldn’t be alone.
