Has there been ANY response from the developers concerning Dominators and PvP?
I have read and re-read this thread looking for any sign of hope that SOMETHING has been considered for the myriad issues with Doms.
I have a Mind/Psi Dom named Lyricist on the Infinity Server. I have had great fun with this villain getting him to lvl 50 in PVE. Everytime I attempted PVP in Bloody Bay, Sirens, Warburg - and had my rear end kicked mercilessly, I said to myself, "It will get better in another level or two..." And back to PVE I went .
I'm level 50 now... all my power sets are SOs .. most of them 53s. I have made several trips to Recluse's Victory. I die within 15 seconds in ANY BATTLE with A HERO. The hero just STANDS there while I throw every hold I have at him. shrugs them off, and then attacks. I get stunned, immobilized, held, knocked back and before I can even click a Green Inspiration, I AM DEAD.
I have teamed. I have soloed. It doesn't matter. I fight. I die. I hold. I die. I run like a cop to the donut shop. I die. I scream like Paris Hilton at a shoe sale at Sacs. I die.
I understand that people don't like being Held in PVP. Takes the fun out of the game. To be frozen like a statue while being beaten upon to death. I understand the idea of Break Frees. I understand having "resistance" to the 1st or 2nd hold. At least give your victim "some" chance.
But for those of us... who have not just paid a monthly fee (which is a given for ALL of us), but have also spent countless hours on a villain, who have invested time and energy and thought into making, nurturing, developing a character. To see that character unable to compete and play in an area of the game, is a terrible disappointment.
When you have 4 rezzers on a team... and you have died so quickly so many times.. that no one can rez you yet because no one's rez is up yet... there is something wrong.
It's disconcerting to me that since no one likes being held, that all these resistances have been given to Blasters and Tankers and Scrappers and such - that the fun for Dominators has been sacrificed. It's fun, or at least feasible, to win a battle in PVP for everyone OTHER THEN A DOMINATOR. I would like some fun... instead of pavement, for a change.
I read thru this thread and see all the numbers given. All the "raise base damage" and "get Domination off faster" and etc etc etc. I am not going to add my .02 to that discussion, as I don't have .01 in my mind to add. The only real answer in my mind to this nonsense - this "nerfing" of Dominators - is so simple it should be obvious.
The same resistances you have in PVE against holds from Dominators is the same holds you should have in PVP. The more damage you can deal out, the more susceptible to holds you should be. If you PVP, you can expect to get held. Just like you should expect to be damaged, or knocked around, or stunned, or sent to the hospital. If you do not like it, then don't PVP. But if you PVP, you should have a CHANCE to win.
I really would like a DEVELOPER to respond not just to my post.. but to the posts of everyone that has taken the time and thought on this thread. I feel, as most of my fellow players feel, pretty ignored about this issue.
How about a "what we are thinking about doing?" or "we haven't a clue" or "well.. someone has to be on the bottom of the PVP food chain, and the Dominators are it!". SOMETHING! would be nice.
