What is it gonna take for the devs to stop dicking the villians around and give them sets that really make a difference. Super Reflexes for Brutes? WTF! Could any set have been lamer for brutes? This is the villians one AT that could semi-tank. Super reflexes does nothing to add to this dynamic, and for PvP? Forget it. You dont see too many SR scraps or stalkers in PvP anymore, do you? Defence has been gimped by IOs and Focused Accuracy. Fiery Aura on the flip side for scraps, gives them yet another way to inflict even more damage then they already do. Scraps actually have a way to deal non-crit damage comparable to a blaster now, even more so. Who cares about the half-baked(no pun intended) resistances. Healing Flames and Fiery Embrace make this set more then worth taking, especially for the Crit-laden scrapper.
Psi Blast for Blasters has already been beat into the ground so I dont think I need to touch on that. Storm Summoning for MMs? Are you bonkers? What does this set offer for the MM? It has no buffs to assist his/her minions and no heals. Hurricane is a rock solid power, but I dont think it makes the MM any more difficult to take down. Does it give tp protection? No. Nuff said. Empathy would have been my choice for them. Heros got Thermal, why wouldnt villians get Empathy? This reeks of prejudice.
Every hero AT got something that improved its lot in some way or another. I touched on scraps and blasters, but controllers got Thermal radiation, Defenders got Cold domination and tanks got, well tanks got LOLZDA, but with the tanks resistance mods this set might just be as devious as its names sake.
What did the villains get? Mace/Axe for brutes. Yaaaay! Another Smashing/lethal set that is all glitz *Yawn* (granted it was long overdue. For aesthetic porpouses these two sets should have been available to Brutes since the beginning), Electrical Melee/Armor for Stalkers. Seems like sets for stalkers are gravitating more and more towards Resistance rather then Defence, considering the massive amounts of Acc buffage in PvP, but in my opinion any stalker set that does not have a self heal is still... *Yawn*, Earth control for Doms *Yawn* (was never impressed with this set on trollers), and Electric blast/ Storm summoning on Corruptors? Storm summoning is a great disruption set. It is great when combined with a trollers Mez, but will it allow corruptors to excell at what they do best (i.e. Blow stuff up and buff/heal)? Not in the slightest.
Needless to say, Im thoroughly un-impressed with the proliferation thus far. Hopefully this is just the tip of the ice berg and we see changes that make more sense in the near future. I like the devs directional thinking though, it just needs some fine tuning, and a little more non-biased decisions being made.
