    like this.
It was/is also entirely possible to make a werewolf character before this booster pack comes out. You know how I know? I've made and seen 'em in the game.

Because the people who made the tail are the ones that fix bugs... right? RIGHT?!?

In other words, everyone asked for a "Beast Parts" Booster Pack, and what we got was a single piece tacked onto an unrelated pack. I don't consider those to be the same thing.
    Do you honestly think

    a) that the tail was made in about a week, just in response to people complaining
    b) that if you believe "a)" they could have made an entire animal part booster pack in time for the pack to go live?!?

Thank you David! Thank you Sexy Jay! Thank you thank you!

I had no idea I would be this excited about one piece. Yes, I've wanted more animal bits for quite a while, but I thought I'd just be like "yay!" - but no! I am all atwitter over just this one piece! I've had a character idea mulling around in my head for a while but was unsure what direction to go with her, and seeing this, now I know! THIS IS SO AWESOME!
I have such an amusing image in my head that goes with this post.

It involves much runing in circles, jumping up and down, and waving of arms/hands...

Given that the "OMG teh mutant booster ISN'T AN ALL-ANIMAL-PARTS BOOSTER!!!" outcry is only a few days old, and that it certainly took The Sexxy One longer than that to make the tail, I tend to think that the "Jay hates Furries!" notion is a bit overstated.

Besides being available in beta, you also get previews via the NCSoft store.

I didn't beta the Natural Pack, but I had a very good idea of what was in it before I purchased.

Alpha, we know you're not happy that EU Test is being used for GR, but we really don't need to hear you complain about it multiple times (and on multiple threads). I like you, but it's getting that "broken record" quality.

Agreed. i'd really like to have the art department go over all matching costume pieces/sets and make sure that the colors actually match up in transition.

This would seem a good way to get a lowly minion familiar with how to manipulate the basics of the costume engine.

Actually, I would say that statement is most likely true. Many were expecting it. Now, whether that was a reasonable or very limited expectation is another matter.

All of whom you can make very reasonable copies of (depending on which incarnation of Beast you're talking about) in the game right now. You don't need any new costume pieces to do them.

You do need them for many full anthropomorphic concepts, but again, that is not the same as a "mutant".

I'm in full support of this idea.

Anyways, I can dig the costumes. The Bio set looks pretty cool and useful for reptile/aquatic themed characters. And the Organic looks like it'd fit for a wide variety of characters, depending on how far your imagination goes. I could see it working for fire, earth, spines, maybe even ice related characters, which are all common mutant abilities. Too bad everyone's going to end up using the whole set at once and won't even attempt to be creative with it. Also digging the new costume change emotes.
This sums it up pretty well for me.

The term "mutant" has far greater scope than just "furry" in the sci-fi/super-hero genre, which is what CoX falls into.

With few exceptions, like TNMT, mutant has nothing to do with anthropomorphic.

I can already see dozens of potential applications for some of these parts, provided that I can get decent texture matches.

That having been said, I think that tail(s), monstrous hand and foot/lower leg options are very much needed.

This has been a rather big point of confusion of late. Thanks.
At the time of that announcement, the pre-purchase system was not yet in place. Use the term pre-purchase (as in via the NCSoft Store, the same way you get early access to DuPi and DeSu) instead of pre-order in this instance.

There is no mechanism in place for retail pre-orderers to get into the beta.

HOLY [WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS], that sucks!

You know, as bad as Craptastic! is, this puts things into perspective.

UPDATE: As of this afternoon, nothing has been communicated to the local GS stores regarding this promotion. They still don't know if my pre-orders, placed prior to the promotion announcement will qualify for the stuff, or if they need to do anything to make them so.

But in X months, I, as a LOYAL CUSTOMER who pre-ordered the retail via GameStop will be SCREWED and have been LIED TO, because I WILL ALREADY HAVE the special enhancements THAT THE DEVS SAID WERE EXCLUSIVE, and now ANYONE CAN HAVE THEM, so I feel LESS SPECIAL and CHEATED and LIED TO and DECEIVED and SMACKED IN THE FACE!!!

What people have right now is buyers remorse. That's not the same thing as being screwed, or NCSoft being evil, or anything like that. People need to get the hell over it.
Could not agree more. It's an important distinction, but one I suspect is lost upon those complaining.

So, this is a break with what has happened in the past. Something only available to preorders from a specific company, and no apparent plans to make them available to existing players.

That's disturbing. Even as other MMORPGs are moving towards the "make everything available to existing players" model that City of Heroes has, City itself is hinting that they're moving away from it.
Given that you list 2 specific examples, it is, by definition, not a break with that has happened in the past.

And, given that you don't know if this will eventually become a vet reward, it may be exactly like other store-specific pre-order perks.

    Right.

Did you use any of the new sets since you pre-purchased? If so, you got your perk.

    I didn't pre-purchase, and I didn't get access. I will purchase and I will get the GameStop/Razer perks.

If I wanted both, I would have pre-purchased and pre-ordered. If you want both, you can do the same.

So from what I gather here, Paragon/NCSoft/marketing slap (hard) & kick (in the teeth) players, particularly EU players, while ignoring them, and lying to them... and their intentions are to shut down the EU servers.

I'm really trying to picture how you can ignore someone you're slapping, and kicking in the teeth...
And if you're kicking them, why are you slapping, and not punching?
And if you don't care about them, why would you waste the energy to beat them?

    ===>===>

Pre-purchase is paid in full, and in this case only available through the NCSoft Store.

Pre-Order is available through various channels, incl. GameStop, Best Buy & Amazon, and, depending on the retailer, may simply entail a deposit, or may also require a full pre-payment.

    Hope that helps.
