Quote:No bueno! Also noteworthy is that Ultra Mode does not currently support SLI configured cards. Were working with NVidia and ATI about this, but you all can speed up the process by contacting NVidia and ATI about updating things on their end to get it to work.
Please make that a priority. -

Does it really, though? If the only part you can't customize is the glowie parts, then make 2-5 versions with primary colors for the glow. Not a perfect solution, but one that should be (relatively) easily implementable.
Also... don't the Arachnos Wolf-Spider have glowing eye-lights? I know they are colorable... -

Quote:In the abstract, I completely agree. I will say that in the case of the situation under discussion here, what you are talking about doesn't really apply. And it is also a failing in the service industry. Sometimes your customer is a moron and expects too much. Sometimes, IMO, it is okay to tell them they are an idiot, and there is no way in heck that you, or anyone else, is going to accomodate them.
I know of TONS of examples from the restaurant industry in which a manager was forced to give-in to some ridiculous situation due to not upsetting the customer. Well, as far as I see it, some customers are okay to lose... especially if it costs you almost as much to keep them happy as they bring in to the business.
Most customers are not familiar with the full saying. The saying is "The customer is always right... except when they're not." At least that's how I know the phrase...
Of course, you did try to seperate yourself from this particular discussion and just seemed to want to vent.
Feel better now? -
Quote:I (and many others) love your bat-[WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS]-crazy, random-[WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS] posts, but please refrain from anything that, no matter how jokingly, casts any aspersions on the players.
Because it will create unnecessary drama, and we have enough of that as is.Quote:So because some people have no sense of humor nobody else on the Interweb is allowed to? Screw that! Full steam ahead on the U.S.S. SexyJ! Torpedos away baby!
Here's the deal: Jay is not just some random poster. He represents the company, and as such, he should think a bit more carefully about what he posts. Any post by any dev criticizing the player-base, (or seeming to) should be given some serious consideration before the submit button is hit.
I didn't say he shoudn't post. I didn't say he shouldn't have fun with his posts. As a matter of fact, I said I enjoy his crazy, random posts. I specifically pointed out that a post that (even jokingly) points fingers at the players is probably a bad idea. If you can't understand why... <shrug> -

Ordinarlily, I like more detailed and realistic art, like Happy Dan's piece. Lousy_day's piece is stunning, but does not spreak to the theme for me.
Surprisingly, PyroNympho's piece really, really appeals to me. It could be a promotional poster for the event. Well done. -
Quote:Jeesh Mistress o' Math... retract thy claws.Wow. That's a long way to go just to slip City of Spies past Castle.
It all makes sense now. Positron creates an entire boxed set of content which looks like an upgrade to the Praetorian dimension, when all along he's just trying to trick Castle into working on City of Spies. And then on the eve of everyone discovering his master plan, he hands War Witch the keys and hides in his secret lair while he prepares to launch his next master plan: a massive update of the Shadow Shard based around aerial combat with the Rularuu that tricks BaB into working on the animations necessary for an underwater zone.
Genius.
I'm pretty sure that the term spy was meant more along the lines of "special operative". Think "special forces" as opposed to being a "shock trooper". At least that's how I read it. -

I've been known to rage before also... but luckily not whilst in the forums. I have however had several epic (and embarrassing) tantrums in game >.>

Hallowed; I get what you are saying, and I admit I was in the very wrong here. However, being patronising is a surefire way to *not* sort things out. You comments might not seem offensive to you, but they were to me. Make of that what you will. And, since the disabling of comments, I've not bothered with the rep feature on the boards anymore.
Hell, I'll give you some to balance it out
Either way; NPC or PC or w/e...Resistance armour is still shiny.
So...can we poke the tech guys to give Jay the tech to make even more shinies?
I also won't pretend that i wasn't trying to agitate you. My main purpose was to refute/discredit your position, but... well... I ain't above a lil' agitaitin'.
Also, I have no idea how to turn off rep, or I would have done it a while ago. It's rather silly.
But yes, I'm totally with you on the idea of having some form of resistance armor made available to players. More importantly (to me) I want costume pieces with glowy bits in general. I don't care who we have to poke (though not in the biblical sense... I have some morals) to get it done.
So peace, yes? -
Oh look! Someone neg rep'ed me. <shrug>

b) = plain insulting. Kindly leave my mother out of this. Just because our opinions do not meet on the level doesn't mean you have any entitlement to attack me specifically for no real reason.
"Kindly leave my mother out of this" implies I said something negative about your mother. I didn't, and wouldn't. I simply derided your assertion that you could do Jay's job better than he could. You can take it as a personal attack if you choose, or you can view it as an attack on your silly assertion, which is what it was.
Quote:Your lack of understanding does not Jay a bad dev make.
It just means you have "No idea".
And the irony of someone who claims he can do Jay's job better complaining about "his ego" is priceless.Quote:No. I'm claim I could do so based on a level of professionalism when it comes to design and communication. Good communication examples are BaBs, WW, Castle... heck, any of the other Devs.
Up until this point, I did think you were a decent poster who had a bit more grip on calm than I did at the time of posting (Mostly due to repeated dissapointments from the costume design dep in the past)
But personal attacks? Really?
That having been said, it is the job of the community reps to effectively communicate with the player-base, and one of them should have said "uhm... (many of) the players seem to think this is a PC costume set... we really should immediately correct that misconception" or, if they didn't know, they should have asked Jay/WW if it was an NPC-exclusive costume or not. As much as I like our CR team, and appreciate Ocho's follow-up post, they didn't step up to the plate quite fast enough this time. I don't expect a fast reaction to all threads. I do, however, think a thread started by a dev, should require more careful monitoring and rapid response.
On the matter of personal attacks, if you don't like them, don't use them (which you most assuredly did in your "anti-Jay" posts).
Usually, I tend to be a bit of a good-humored smart-[WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS], but if I think someone's acting like an [WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS], I have no problem pointing it out. In this case, the hypocrisy and personal attacks against Jay caught my attention. I still tried to keep my responses somewhat light-heated. I may or may not have succeeded. Clearly you think I did not.
I think my criticism on this thread has been pretty even-handed. You can, of course, disagree. That's the beauty of the forums. -
Quote:Your lack of understanding does not Jay a bad dev make. The only 'dev' I have a problem with is Jay, as I have mentioned on multiple times. The level of communication from the other devs is good, very good. Its not the level of communication that gets to me.
Its not even a sense of 'entitlement'. It's a sense of certain things, mostly costumes, could be better, so much better. And yet we are stuck with Jay and his non-sensical posts, his ego and his 'reasons' for stuff simply not happening. The Resistance armour here, the PPD Shell armour. Not robes, because I can understand WHY that doesnt happen. It probably would look horrible. The others? No idea.
It just means you have "No idea".
And the irony of someone who claims he can do Jay's job better complaining about "his ego" is priceless. -

Quote:LOL!Personally, I think they need to consider swinging harder. If they are going to be blamed for "arrogant, immature, antagonistic face-slapping" anyway, I say swing for the fences.
I would.
Over the years, there have been so many instances of player uttering the phrase "the Devs slapped me/us/the players in the face", or variations thereof.
In no instance did I ever feel that perception was warranted. -
Ok, let's dissect this.
You can't believe that the discussion of a costume reveal with a feature most players would love (glowy bits) turned to disappointment when it was revealed that they would not, in fact, be able to access them? Especially when it took quite some time for the fact that it was NPC only to be revealed?
Quote:It never once occurred to me that the screenshot was of an player character costume set.
Quote:In fact, it occurred to me that it's standard for the NPCs to get things the players generally can't, and this was almost certainly such a case.
Quote:I do hope it means we can get glowing bits in the future, however.
Quote:The preposterous sense of entitlement people can have never ceases to amaze me.
I would also point out that, unlike in other situations, the amount of over-the-top outrage has, thus far, for the most part, been pretty minor.
