“Well Super Pizza is just down the street,” Alex smiled at Blake, “If we get there soon enough, we could set up an ambush for the wolf.” She punched him lightly on the arm before heading across the Port to the door, though her brow crinkled when she noticed a pair of cop cars with their sirens on speeding down the street.

“Um,” Alex started walking faster toward the exit, “Unless you want to be delayed for who knows how long answering boring questions, I suggest we let the cops clean up this mess alone.” She turned out onto the sidewalk and paced her way back to the apartments.

I had indigestion, and then....

“Well duh,” Alex quickly ran up to Blake and wrapped her arms around him, thankful that he was alive, “You’re right where I left you after I saved your butt! And you still owe me a pizza.” She joked, after what just happened that was the last thing that needed to be addressed.

A brief strike of fear hit her when Erik mentioned that there were more in Galaxy, and she turned toward him as he was exiting the wrecked Pizza Port. “Do you know what they want?” she stammered, “I mean aside from eating people and causing havoc…just some random evil?” Though something like that wouldn’t be completely out of the ordinary in Paragon City…

Alex immediately recognized Ramon and his Vanguard company; she headed straight toward him, her eyes slightly moist with tears.

“Ramon!” She was relieved to see him, “The Pizza Port was attacked. Blake is still in there with the big wolf. Erik arrived too, but I’m worried about him. Hurry to them, please, make sure Blake is safe.”

By this time, however, the giant flaming wolf could be seen sprinting outside of the Port exit down the road, then after a few moments of escape it exploded in a burnt, gory mess. Alex just stared in shock at the unusual phenomenon and held her arms close around her middle, not really paying attention to those around her. Then she began running back to the Port to see the others.

Alex looked in shock at the proximity of the wolf after Erik stopped it’s leap telekinetically. She glanced at Blake at the other side of the room, then at Erik. She didn’t want to leave Blake behind, but she knew that, if anything, she would only get in the way.

She nodded at Erik. “Make sure Blake makes it out safe, Erik,” Shivers from fear could be heard in her voice. Alex glanced one more time at Blake and raised a hand to show she was ok before she ran out of the Pizza Port back to the apartments.

Sleep is for the weak

The stray bullet hit Lord Recluse, and then...

Alex couldn’t scream or really breathe for that matter; she was caught between terror from the wolf-beast and awe from Blake’s hidden talent. She also really couldn’t move so much, so she ignored Blake’s command to “Go” as she witnessed the events unfold.

She took a step forward when the beast shattered the pool table with Blake sliding underneath it but had to quickly dodge an eight-ball that was flung in her direction from the explosion. Alex finally got her wits about her and decided it was time to act as adrenaline pumped through her veins. Fight or flight? She thought to herself.

Then Blake got slammed against the wall, and, in the orange glow provided by the flame in the center of the room, Alex saw Blake’s head-wound. Blake was a fool to think he could handle this fight and try to play the hero; she grabbed the previously mentioned eight-ball and flung it at the wolf’s head. While the ball was traveling accurately on its trajectory, Blake summoned his flaming sword. Perhaps he can… Her thought was cut short as ball slammed into the beast’s head. It immediately took notice of its new, and weaker, attacker and charged toward Alex. Who’s the fool now? She thought as she turned tail and ran the other direction.

All the heroes and variations there of also puked 5 gallons worth of disgust, creating a massive tidal wave of disgust flowing through the city streets resulting in mass chaos. And then..

Alex smiled when her combos were having their desired effect. She decided she was going to go ahead and finish this round then take it easy on him for round two; she didn’t want to discourage him from playing after all. Positron sent an Electron Haze toward Synapse and began the extra-long combo for his nuke attack, which would quickly conclude the battle.

“You play well enough,” Alex began, knowing the end was near, “Just need to get a feel for the…” She stopped talking as the lights in the Pizza Port began dimming then brightening, as if a power surge was coursing through the building. Then suddenly the power was lost, plunging the area in darkness…which was met by at least a dozen screams.

Silence overcame the Pizza Port and a few kids began joking about it, and whispers were exchanged between groups. “Blast,” Alex cursed, “Just when I was about to…”

Then the sound of a deep growl could be heard emanating from somewhere and a bark. Panic ensued and kids were blindly trying to flee through the darkness, someone nearly pushed Alex to the ground but she used the momentum to lunge forward into Blake. She grasped his arm because she didn’t want to get separated.

As Blake was performing his double-jump, Alex managed to send three little neutron bolts that caused minor damage before his overhand slam sent Positron crashing into the ground. As the falling animation continued, she was setting up another combo but held off on the activation button until Posi got back on his feet. As soon as she clicked the button, she activated Neutron Bomb and hurled a large orb of green radiation at Synapse.

Alex did not wait to see what the effect was before she was already rushing forward and starting the close-range Cosmic Burst combo. Alex was half-tempted to casually hold her arm behind her back, but she didn’t want to seem cocky…just skilled. “We can knock the bid down to five bucks if you want, Blake.”

I was met with the vengeance of all the super heroes and villains he ever created, including their spin-offs, clones, alternate dimension selves, and the dead ones...because death is always easier to cure than a hangnail. And then...
