Fenian Girl came to life, Caem! hurry up and find her... then live happily ever after.
As for your question...not really. In my mind, physically, Gray was inspired by Famke Janssen, except with a Latina influence (and by default, so is Jackalynn).
-
I decided to sleep after class because it was rather long (yay, color theory), but now I can finally respond
Caem - Aha! and you implied nothing could really be done in Buffalo, the City Hall is quite striking. With the story rough I've been developing so far, I think Giant's Causeway could fit in rather nicely.
Ironik - Those are a lot of characters, and each has a little bit they can each offer to the theme. Granted I'm not going to choose all of them, but they all have the potential to be really helpful
McBoo - Your story was amazing! And great job capturing the personality and contradiction of Gray: she completely believes the ends justify the means, and yet she also struggles with a crisis of conscience that sometimes make it seem like that mantra wouldn't be entirely accurate (but it is with her). Thank you for sharing your creativity with us; I loved reading my character
Thornster - You'll be hard-pressed to try to sway me with charm and good looks, you'll need to be 5'8, dark hair/blue cat eyes (not the slanted pupils, but rather the shape) woman with a lethal Ukranian accent; otherwise, my willpower is strongBut yes, your scene idea could fit in really well with some of the ideas I've been having.
Clobbertime - Very nice characterA battle on the high seas would be amazing (that and I finished watching the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy a couple of days ago. Cool character design too.
Foo - You'll pay for a crossover between two characters that aren't yours? Well, knock yourself out, but in light of GK's question...maybe not, I probably shouldn't be so quick to trust ya -
Currently in class at the moment, so I can't really go into too much depth at how incredibly impressed I am with everyone's recent contributions! Trust me, I'm gonna have plenty to say when I finally get out in six hours, but until then I'm sneaking in to say "Wow!"
edit:
And like Caem said, going above and beyond my basic numbered outline of requests is not required, and hopefully no one feels they need to do the same in order to compete -
Wow, Bobby! Thank you, Jackalynn looks beautiful and I agree with CR, the warm golden tones provide a nice color scheme for the piece. Great facial composition on the face and shading

Quote:I hope the initial theme isn't misleading; essentially it's a "Provide me a setting and I'll write you a story" situation, and if I do select an individual there will be PM convos discussing the deeper details behind the scenario rather than just having them strike a pose in front of Great Wall of China; overall, I hope there will be a great deal of character-story development. After an agreement has been reached then I select from a variety of artist's who I believe have the talent to render the quality I'm looking for (Don't worry, I'm not pulling you inKim Paler/FireBrandi's been doing crossovers too, though I think both of our aims were mostly character-story related rather than background scenes. What I've been doing is selecting characters that I can see guest-starring in a Bayani comic book, if one were to ever be made. As far as scale goes though...*shrugs* well everyone knows I'm extremely picky about artists and shoot for high-level quality commissions so I don't have a whole lot of volume going. (not volunteering my characters by the way, but I'll be interested in seeing what you end up with)
).
-
Just imagine the background is an incredibly thick fog
-
Thank you for the fine additions everyone! Who knows, perhaps I can actually make a Gray backstory adventure out of this as it progresses
So far there are strong European themes going on so it definitely means things could be tied together (inevitably exploding on a more global scale).
Got plenty of ancient heroes involved as well, hehe. -
Sweet, thanks for the refs so far peeps, already got some ideas brewing in my head and I'm matching them to artists so some of you may hear from me by the end of the day.
TA - From what you've given about Mikel and Niobjorg so far, I'm imagining it will involve a bit of time travel so I'm not crossing paths with the modern era Sassy and TA, right? Got some cool ideas either way, I have some Asgardian mythology ties with Jackalynn, and what interests Jackalynn means Gray is equally intrigued.
ShadowWings - Cool character concept, and I got some neat ideas. Though don't know if the two would have had a passing relation in the past (at least of the intimate kind). Gray tends to be the dominant pursuer type who chooses her targets carefully, don't know if she'd associate with a one-nighter again unless it was business. Though the two could definitely work together on some Circle investigation
Foo - You've been touched by this thread, now I'm going to ask ya about a character ref for ya. You need some fan art for all the work you've done for me in the past.
Caem - Don't worry about sidetracking the thread, not going to use the whip.
Sapphic - Got an idea each for both Neko and Shock, I'll flesh them out a bit and perhaps I'll get back to you sometime soon.
Meanwhile, since Eddy needs some fan art too for the beautiful art he's done for me, I've already begun arranging a piece featuring a team-up with his character, Blind Matter, in France. I hear it's lovely this time of year. -
Caem, you know you're gonna get featured! Gray will just have to drag your sorry *** out of PC to give you a breath of fresh air elsewhere...like maybe England or Malaysia. That goes for you too Eddy, you need more fan art.

Heya everyone,
Got this lovely idea (well, actually one that has been in my head for a while now) featuring a globe-trotting Gray Huntress in various crossovers (because they're amazing) in variously-themed scenes (fights, stakeouts, parties, and such, maybe even a one-night stand) in various locales around the world. I've always viewed Gray Huntress as an international vigilante, rather than the protector of the superhero breeding groundHeck, I've often used personal liberties with the CoH canon to place Salamanca, Croatoa in Russia or Founder's Falls in Venice. One of the biggest reasons I'm excited for Going Rogue (other than finally becoming a true vigilante) is that I'll have two fully developed alternate regions to explore (i.e. Rogue Isles and Praetoria).
I figured I'd change my regular routine of hosting the D.R.A.T. for this instead. It's open to everyone, but it's not randomly chosen; I'll be as likely to choose people who post in this thread as finding OC's I admire elsewhere (possibly even in deviantArt) so please don't be offended if you're not immediately chosen. Pretty much what I need to know from anyone interested in leaving the City with Gray is:
1. First, you're not guaranteed to be first in line.
2. I need to know your character, references, and alignment (if it's complicated, then detail it)
3. Knowing your powers would also be a good thing.
4. What is their native country, or is there a specific region in the world that is associated with them. Please keep it on Earth though...I don't plan on going to heaven or hell, or in space.
5. If they're good old-fashioned Paragon City born, is there somewhere else in the world that holds a key interest to them? For example, is the source of their power from a Egyptian deity? Or do they have any friends or relatives elsewhere? Perhaps they're on vacation?
6. Is there a particular scene you'd like to see? Remember, while Gray mostly plays the hero, she does do some rather unsavory things and could team up with a villain just as soon as she'd fight them...she just wouldn't likely associate with them outside of the workplace. She wouldn't likely fight a hero, unless they started it.
7. The U.S. is a big place, so the term globe-trotting is not exclusively referring to everything outside of it.
Just a few things to remember now. You're not guaranteed to see instant results (trying to see how many different ways I can say this). I'll be choosing the artist and the final terms, but I will collaborate with you on an idea you'd be happy with. The fee is all on me. Any of my commissions that are completed under this theme will be posted in this thread, unless the chosen artist is a CoH regular and would prefer to make their own thread so they can receive comments and critiques.
Everyone is welcome to join, and I will find OCs outside of the thread as well. Let's see how many countries she will vist.
-Gray
P.S. Oh yeah, even though you post your information in this thread it could take quite some time before you may be featured; just remember it's nothing personal. -
Definitely a difficult choice and I'd love to go in depth with each piece about what strengths and weaknesses each holds, so without further ado:
((edited due to long-windedness, contradictions, and getting off on a train of thought about bacon and tap-dancing penguins))
So in the end, after much personal debate, I'm choosing Foo due to the dark tragic emotions conveyed through the scene, the appearance of the seldom seen Rularuu and his minions, and perhaps even the 'smaller' scale of the people involved have all affected my final decision. I've always like the idea of there only being a handful of heroes (rather than going Marvel and having everyone multiply like rabbits [granted Marvel is my favorite universe ((aside from CoH))]) <------Epic fail for triple parentheses...
See why I shouldn't go in depth? I'll end up talking about the proper way to make the lattice-top of a pie...
Though I should definitely give Shia the praise he deserves for delivering a complex, perspective-efficient final piece to make this final round a truly difficult decision for anyone voting.
Thank you, Foo and Shia (and in fact, all the participants), for sharing your talents with the forums and delivering fantastic art to the forums to pick-and-choose. I'm sure it wasn't easy, and definitely was probably a job to be juggled with your real life. There are a lot of art appreciators in the forums, but the foundation the fan art community wouldn't even exist without the artists who contribute their talents here. Also I applaud TA for hosting this community contest and keeping everything as neutral and open as possible; for understanding what rules were too binding and could bend, and which one would cause issues if they were ignored. I've enjoyed observing this event since I first arrived.
Thank you -
Quote:Lol, I am not bias on who I choose for the D.R.A.T. It's all based on the luck of the draw, you can feel free to enter Midnight Man again if you want. When's the next DRAT? I need to take some more screenies of my other toons, since Midnight-Man isn't floatin' yer boat.
Since this D.R.A.T. has been resolved, I figure it's almost time to start round 4. -
Quote:Ya know, Meri, your defence comes the day after Thanksgiving(*fends off GrayHuntress's attempt to turkeynap Mr. Lurkey*)
(*looks at Crestent in a confused manner, as she doesn't know what sweat patatos are, but thinks they sound really nasty ... and sweaty*)
Hey all the Lurkey had was pumpkin cream pie... -
*tranquilizer arrow flies in and hits the turkey*
*invisible person stalks in and steals the Lurkey to have him over for Thanksgiving dinner...really! Not to eat*
-
Thanks LJ! It's very appealing too...so is your avi...

Quote:I'm really happy you like it, Powerstream; Celtic Bolt never fails to deliver a piece I wouldn't be ecstatic about, his attention to detail is amazing and the combination of the black background with the deep shadows really work well together.Like it? I LOVE it! That is awesome! I really am speachless. Ok I'm never speachless. That is too cool.
The look on Crescent's face is awesome. It's like "Oh CARP!" and "I'm takin' this chick out NOW!" all rolled into one. And Jackalynn is all cool and calm.
Thanks again for the contest and spending of your own hard earned cash Gray! If there is anything I can do to repay you somehow please feel free to ask!
I had to lol when you said "Oh CARP!"
And as far as repayment? Don't speak such nonsense, it was intended as a free gift! Well not entirely free, since I got a lovely crossover out of it (Crossovers = win)
And for Jackalynn's chest? I'll blame foreshortening -
Well I finally got around to commissioning CelticBolt for the third D.R.A.T. piece (funds didn't fall into the right place at the right time) but here is the final piece that Powerstream won featuring Crescent Blade versus Jackalynn (this is the fourth commission CB has done with my femme fatale).
Hope you like Powerstream: D.R.A.T. #3

That's what I said, and I came back...so will you
Have a nice break though, tuter, we'll keep a light on for ya. -
The person who won first place wore this?! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...id=47323760423
Please, I could throw that outfit together in my garage; certainly doesn't have the originality or invested creativity in the other costumes, even the Wentworths made me lol.
Alright mods, I know you'll probably see all of our disappointment here in the forums...be sure to channel it to the judges for us. -
Psst, Pyro, he hasn't added anything to this thread yet...unless I'm missing it?

Quote:Some call me the destroyer of worlds, so here is the bacon apple pie:I think you just made my head explode. You can not logically combine two things of such awesomeness without taking into account the fragile nature of the universe.
There is a reason Mr. T and Chuck Norris never had a lovechild.
Actually many reasons.......
Oh god....the image is stuck in my mind.....
And here is the lovechild of Mr. T and Chuck Norris:

But now that that is out of my system...can we pull this runaway train of thought back into Cashoo's station? -
OMG! You have an Andy Park! I can't believe it!
*fan squee*
The penciler who got me into comics with his work on Top Cow's Tomb Raider, and you have a personal piece!
Marry me? -
Probably safer just to stop searching, Caem, all the real women I've come across are already taken
