I would say not. If you know that you are with non-rpers and you want to be understood I would say drop the quirk. Some will tell you to inform them you are RPing and they need to deal with it but I disgree. Too often non-rpers are required to just "deal" with RPers. But there are times the RPers have to bend a little.
But it really comes down to your own personal preference. On this particular server if you use (()) when speaking out of character then it is accepted. -

THE PARAGONIAN KNIGHTS & THE ROGUE KNIGHTS
The Paragonian Knights are now looking for brave heroes (and villains!) of all levels and archetypes. We currently have 8 supergroups across both CoH and CoV. We are very active in all aspects of the game including but not limited to role-playing events, player versus player zone events, arena battles and friendly instant base raids. The Knights often have events going on every night of the week and several on weekends. It is not uncommon to see 2 to 3 task forces or strike forces running at the same time with the Knights.
Paragonian Knights are our core group and are what makes us who we are. We are a lite role-playing supergroup, meaning we support RP-ing and enjoy it from time to time, but most of it is mission based. We strongly encourage character development and good backgrounds for your characters. If you are not an RP-er don't worry because you are just as welcome to join. The PK currently boasts a fully functional base, an extremely active roster and a fabulous web site with active forums. The PK has been around for more than a year now and in that time has made a name for itself as a supergroup that is here for the duration. If you are looking for a SG that enjoys having a good time and being there to lend each other a helping hand then look no further!
Paragonian Knights - 2nd Battalion are our second "main" Knights supergroup on the Virtue server. Due to restrictions by CoH developers on SG size, the 2nd Battalion was created to allow the Knights to continue to recruit new heroes. This supergroup operates under the same guidelines as the original Paragonian Knights.

Sisterhood of the Paragonian Knights are our all-female theme group. The main requirement to be accepted into the Sisterhood is that your character is female. The Sisterhood is a rapidly growing branch of the Paragonian Knights that does get involved in some lite role-playing during all Sister team-ups. The current leader is Gwendolyn Snow and she can be reached in-game @Graes Babe for additional information and possibly an in-game interview. Membership in the Sisterhood grants you all the same privileges as membership in the main Paragonian Knights supergroup.

Currently, the Elite is on its way to becoming our foremost base raiding and PvP supergroup. All members are not required to participate in this however. Obviously you must be level 50 to be a member. Upon reaching level 50 the Knight is honored in a brief ceremony attended by all available Knights and coalition allies. It is a sight to behold.

This group is very casual and currently does not have any activity requirements. RP missions for this group are posted on the website forums on a weekly basis and it is up to each player to carry them out as they see fit.

Paragonian Knights - Victory Outpost are our Victory server branch of the Knights. It is set up under the same guidelines as the core group. Currently most of the member ship consists of characters under the level of 20 and most are Knights on the Virtue server as well. However, this does not exclude players who are exclusive to victory. Each player is allowed one character on the core group. (This SG is currently in hibernate until interest is brought back).

The Blackguards are the Paragonian Knights affiliated Role-Playing villain supergroup. To be a Blackguard you need to be a dedicated role-player. Nox Angelus (@Nightangel23) is the leader of the Blackguards. To join you can either post an application on the Paragonian Knights website or send a in-game tell to Nox and he or a representative of the group will meet with you. The Blackguards have a lot of fun and interesting RP events in progress both on the forum boards and in-game. Blackguards are the only PK group that a villain does not need to be a Knight to be part of. However, membership in the Blackguards carried the same rights and privileges that membership in the Knights carries.

The Paragonian Knights are now looking for brave heroes of all levels and archetypes. We currently have 7 supergroups across 2 servers. We are actively recruiting for our Virtue team. We are very active in all aspects of the game including role-playing events, player versus player zone events, arena battles and soon friendly base raids.
Paragonian Knights are our core group and are what makes us who we are. We are a lite role-playing supergroup, meaning we support Rp-ing and enjoy it from time to time, but most of it is mission based. We strongly encourage character development and good backgrounds for your characters. If you are not an RP-er don't worry because you are just as welcome to join. If you are looking for a supergroup that frequents Gemini Park and enjoys sitting around talking about beating down the bad guys more than doing it, we probably are not the group for you.
Paragonian Knights - 2nd Battalion are our second "main" Knights supergroup on the Virtue server. Due to restrictions by CoH developers on SG size, the 2nd Battalion was created to allow the Knights to continue to recruit new heroes. This supergroup operates under the same guidelines as the original Paragonian Knights.
Paragonian Knights - Victory Oupost are our Victory server branch of the Knights. It is set up under the same guidelines as the core group. Currently most of the member ship consists of characters under the level of 20 and most are Knights on the Virtue server as well. However, this does not exclude players who are exclusive to victory. Each player is allowed one character on the core group. (This SG is currently in hibernate until interest is brought back).
Sisterhood of the Paragonian Knights are our all-female theme group. The main requirement to be accepted into the Sisterhood is that your character is female. The Sisterhood is a growing branch of the Paragonian Knights that does get involved in some lite role-playing during all Sister team-ups. The current leader is Gwendolyn Snow and she can be reached in-game @Graes Babe for additional information and possibly an in-game interview. Membership in the Sisterhood grants you all the same privileges as membership in the main Paragonian Knights supergroup.
Honor Battalion is our Heavy Role Playing group. It is a very select group based around a silver-age superhero theme. To be a member of the Honor Battalion one needs first be a Knight for 30 days. If you are interested in this group it takes alot of commitment. Lady Graviton is our current Field Chief and she can be reached in-game @wynne aislinn for additional information.
Paragonian Knights - Elite are our group for level 50 players. This group is very relaxed and spends alot of time helping others and participating in server wide events. Obviously you must be level 50 to be a member. Upon reaching level 50 the Knight is honored in a brief ceremony attended by all available Knights and coalition allies. It is a sight to behold.
The Rogue Knights are the Paragonian Knights villain supergroup. Currently to be a member of the Rogues you must first be a member of one of the Paragonian Knights superhero groups. The Rogues are villains but continue to treat each other as Knights with respect and dignity. All members of the Rogue Knights must be active within 30 days or are in danger of being removed from the roster.

The Paragonian Knights are now looking for brave heroes of 15 or greater level and all archetypes. We currently have 9 supergroups across 2 servers. We are actively recruiting for our Virtue team.
Paragonian-Knights are our core group and are what makes us who we are. We are a lite role playing supergroup, meaning we support RP-ing and enjoy it from time to time, but most of it is mission based. We strongly encourage character development and good backgrounds for your characters. If you are not an RP-er don't worry because you are just as welcome to join. Paragonian Knights - Arena Gladiators are the Knights player versus player Arena team. This team covers all levels and is built for the enjoyment of the Arena. The team has a set costume that all members must wear in the Arena, this does include level 1 characters. All Gladiators must have be members of the Knights first and understand that this team is a diversion not the soul of the Knights. A strict code of conduct will be adhered to while conducting Arena matches to keep from taking away from the enjoyment of others. There is no activity requirements for this group but all members are encouraged to participate in scheduled Arena events when possible.
Paragonian Knights - Reserves are the reserves unit of the Knights. This is a supergroup for Knights to place alts on the Virtue server and still remain part of the Knights.

The Paragonian Knights are a growing supergroup on the virtue shard. The Knights are currently comprised of 4 supergroups: The Paragonian Knights (core group), The Paragonian Knights-Reserves (alts), The Sisterhood of the Paragonian Knights (female superheroes only) and the Honor Battalion (heavy-rp supergroup).
