Quote:The Lambda Trial isn't connected to this Floating Fortress - it takes place at the Lambda Scetor military base in Neutropolis.I couldn't remember what book that raft was from, but that raft was the first thing I thought about upon seeing those images.
When Lambda was announced as the name of the next trial I noticed a defintion on Wiki that sounded cool
At first I didn't think that defination of Lambda had anything to do with the trial but now that I see all those shield ships I think it does. -
Quote:I'm hoping we start to see NPC Powers Division members as AVs in some of the Trials and other Praetorian invasion content. There's, like, 15 of them, and a buncha robots. And about half of them have, like, a whole two lines of characterization. I mean, sure, Praetoria's pretty cool, but I'll admit that they're already starting to feel a tad monotonous.
I know Tyrant doesn't fully trust them, but there must be a few he'd risk sending along to Primal Earth with his giant war robot army
I think a Powers division "Rogues Gallery" would be very cool, like the costumed NPCs who show up in the Tip missions - the Powers Division ones could be a mix of existing ones from the 1-20 Praetorian content, plus some new ones, and they could be scattered throughout any new Paretorian invasion arcs or missions, along with the actual Praetors themselves. -

Swimming's good for you - it helps keep you healthy.
As for the floating Fortress, I think the key things so far for guessing about what it is and who runs it is that it has an aircraft carrier area, several factories, a rift portal, and that they mention the "heroic arrival" of the players to the place. -
Right now, it is

I think it's the setting for an Incarnate Trial. -
Quote:The mention of our "heroic arrival" makes it sound more like it's going to be a Praetorian place we go and smash up - either on Primal Earth or Praetorian Earth.A thought: maybe it's a Primal Earth forward base in Praetoria.
There's a rift portal marked on the sketch mapQuote:*Crosses fingers and toes and prays hard to his gods that this new zone has absolutely nothing to do with Praetoria for a change.*
Yes, I know I'm going to be disappointed, but I can hope can't I?

Again, see the mention of the "heroic arrival" of players

Or the entrance could even be the rift portal - like Vanguard might have found a way to hack it so we can use to to get onboard.

Quote:The aircraft carrier area seems to suggest something military and mor5e sophisticated than a normal criminal operation, and the factories could be for producing Clockwork. My current bet is that it's Emperor Cole's forces building the fortress, and trying to get a solid foothold on Primal Earth. They didn't expect their initial invasion to be repelled (they expected to just steamroll everyone), so their followup plan would likely be rushed... hence using a bunch of stolen ships and building a fortress based off of them.
Just a guess, though.
If this is the setting for another Incanrate Trial, then it's likely to be co-op - Villains have to help Heroes defend the world from Tyrant and the loyalists. -
Quote:I wonder if the wall ships are linked below decks, so you could go almost the whole way around the fortress? That's what I thought too, I think the use of the word "zone" in the preview is misleading. I do think it has something to do with Praetoria since everything else lately seems to, and the "rift portals" seem to heavily imply that.
It does look like the kind of map that would contain a lot of "maps within a map," which should be neat. -

Quote:Well, from the description, it seems like we'll doing heroic things there - so there will be some vaillainous types controlling the place - but it's way mroe likely to be a co-op rtaher than a single faction zoneNew zone? New zone?

...
I'm guessing probably not
but cool.
But I really really want a new villain zone anyway.
Well, we're making progress - we're now able to go out over the deep sea - we just need to work our way downwards

Quote:What some players want has to be balanced out with ideas the devs come up with for stuff we hadn't even though ofHrrrm. I suppose it's interesting-looking. It'll depend heavily on the writing, of course.
But excuse me for being cranky? But, well, as far back as when Mission Architect was new, and then repeatedly since then, we keep getting asked what kinds of environmental art assets we'd like added to the game ... and this is not something that anybody, let alone any significant number of us, asked for. I would really have preferred the art department's time had gone into something a little more interesting AND useful, like the long overdue space station and lunar colony and underwater city maps.
Right now, I'm leaning towards something to do with the Destroyers - it just looks a lot like something they'd come up with - although it could be something Crusader related too, even if it seems a little low-tech for them.Quote:
OK, seriously now, some thoughts:
During the BAF test people found a new mission contact in IP stationed on a battleship. He's tasked with defending our waters. The floating fortress has a good chance of being related to that.
That would suggest that that Fortress is located on Primal Earth.
Since they have a Rift Portal, it could mean these ships are from Praetoria.
It doesn't look like something Cole's forces would have put together (too ramshackle).
Perhaps these are refugees from Praetoria; Resistance or simply people who are not loyal to Cole who have taken to living at sea to escape the Hamidon and have now traveled to Primal Earth to escape Cole's forces. Just because they're not with Cole, they could still be hostile to Primals, Perhaps no government would grant them asylum or they live via piracy and it doesn't matter what world they're stealing from.
If they're not from Praetoria, perhaps they're related to the Sky Raiders, or this is an offshore "rogue state" or some sort.
EDI: I wonder if it'll be a raid setting too? Like how the RWZ has story arcs to flesh out the story of the zone, and then has a raid located there too. -
Quote:Well, the "somewhere hidden in this zone are a few hapless fishermen just waiting for your heroic arrival" bit means that the fortress is being run by naughty typesPretty cool, can't wait til you show off some of the interior... and it better be a Red-Side city...
-
If it's in Praetoria, I think it might be a Resistance base, as a loyalist one probably wouldn't look so "thrown togther" - but if it's on Primal Earth, it could be a loyalist one that they made in secret off the coast.
And whatever it is, I'm pretty sure it's connected to the warship in Independence Port and Admiral Sutter.
The Facebook picture looks like it shows a floating platform of some kind, but its shape doesn't seem to match anything on the Floating Fortress diagram:
